    Too bad you didn't like any of these Pinots. I really enjoy Pinot, but it is really price-prohibitive these days for what you get. That's why I've migrated more to Rhone type wines.

    QOTD: 07 Fèvre Chablis (Fourchaume, Vaillons, Bougros, Les Clos) for big Crab meal with Schamsberg 06 Blanc de Noirs as a starter and Lieser Niederer Auslese 05 Long GC for dessert. Can't wait!! Good show BTW.

    QOTD: Watching the Giants pummle the Dodgers, playing a little poker, Maybe checking out this crazy drinking marathon people call picknick day in Davis, CA. Thats when all the V & E majors (and everyone else on campus) gets shitcanned. I dont go there anymore but I can still drink there!

  • I've been on a pinot 'meh' for a while now. I was drinking a crapload of it, and just got tired of it. I've really been on a merlot thing lately, and made my way back to good old cab. Maybe now that it's getting warmer, I'll move back to the lighter side of things.

    QOTD: I'm not sure. I know I've got to put up some campaign signs, (I'm running for Otero County Assessor woot!!) If I don't get to it tonight, I'm going to have to change the dampers and get the swamp cooler going, because it's freakin hot!

I plan to taste a lot of wine, rearrange my winecooler, and then trough some garabage out ( not wine) Spring cleaning, Oh my parents are coming to congratulate my partner on her 50 th… and sleep late sunday.. write a bit on my novel… change the tires on the car … service the motorhome… order some chocolate for my show … ask a Bordeaux Chateau for a appointment in september, finish the plan for that trip… as I said, not much. What are you doing?

    Loved the descriptions. I get the same sheep butt smell on a lot of Pinot's and I'm not a fan of it.

    I've had the first wine recently. It was a pass. It wasn't bad, but kind of hollow and overly simple. Reminded me of a cheap table wine.

  • Good blind today, I have never really gotten into Red Burgs due to the price considering what you can get from Oregon at those points.

    Yeah I agree as well. I love Pinot but the ridonkulous prices for it have me running for the hills. I blame “Sideways” and the wineries for riding the wave of free marketing.

  • Right? I really like the movie, don't get me wrong, but when is the world going to get over it? I mean the movie came out in 2004. What really irked me was people comparing pinot to shiraz, cab and cab franc, the whole merlot thing…when pinot is such a light and delicate grape…or should be.

    QOTD: Good weekend setup. Saturday, MUSHROOM HUNTING!!!!. The morels should be poppin hard and hopefully I can find a nice stand or two of them. What would be a nice wine with morels? I'm thinking an earthy white wine…maybe bubbles.

    Sunday: Fishing! Hendricksons are poppin, as well as the early hydropsyche caddis. I don't like fishing weekends on this particular river because of some crowding issues. But, I'll pull the private property card and with any luck have a nice stretch and a spinner fall to myself in the evening.

    coolaid drinkers.

    As a movie, Sideways is good. But as a magnet for every douche to get hip to wine…..FAIL. There is a similar in my industry. We just call it “The Movie”….everyone else calls it ” A River Runs Through It”. Good movie, but brought an epic plague of Asshats into my quiet sport. It did make me a good amount of money, but I'd give it all back to be able to fish my favorite waters again without orvis decked out douchenuggets crowding me out and waiting for the Adams to hatch.
