You hit the nail on the head, Randi! Gov’t is waaay too big. Here’s to hoping I can keep my family doctor…

I understand Ray! Im waiting for Big Brother (& Sister) to tell me which salon to use, which jeans to wear, where to live, who to love….you get the idea!

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

Great minds think alike! = )

Our Founding Fathers are rolling over in their grave right now.

Looks like a great sight and with better selection. Thank you very much for the link.

  • Wow, so I just started the episode, and get bombarded by a giant ad! That is all…

  • zrm

Gary I love the Wine Biz talk! Keep it coming! Shaping up to be a great 2 parter

  • jolieelman

WONDERFUL to see Brian on WLTV! Hey Brian! He's one of the best. (1999 Sharon's Vineyard was my first Loring!)

  • Jesse

Gary, Brably Nowell from Sublime, had his fame posthumasly

  • jenna35

    1st….clever ad
2nd…great conversation between the two of you. Brian is very knowledgable, down to earth, and honest about his wine!

This guy makes the whole wine thing sound relaxing, fun, enjoyable and respectful. I don't get the labels though they would keep me away from even trying it, as prejudice as it may be, aesthetic appeal is what usually draws me in. How would a screw on top fair in the long run? I've heard of people keeping wines for endless years, does the screw top lead to an expiration date?

  • This guy is night and day from yesterday's guest. SO much better. Look forward to tomorrow.

  • Great episode so far… Cant' wait to see part 2. Recently signed up to Loring and picked up the 3-pack special they were offering. Look forward to trying them.

  • lucresmith

This is probably my favorite guest I've seen on WLTV so far, though I haven't seen every episode (yet, about 200 down, 650 to go!) I'm excited for part 2, can't wait! And loved the screwcap talk! Good juice. 🙂

  • Scott

Good Show and if you have never tried his wines you will not be disapointed. Last year I had the pleasure to taste his wines, from every year, going back to 2000 from grapes he sourced from Cloe Pepe in the Santa Rita Hills, just incredible have they have evolved. Keep up the good work.

  • corkscrew

    Very good Pinot's….. http://www.winelx.com

  • johnfarrin

WOW! Like night and day from yesterday. Brian appears to be completely genuine and very passionate about what he's doing.

  • taciturnforsale

I got very interested in the wine and checked it out online. The only place which ships to PA is sold out of all Loring wines. Philadelphia's Wine and Spirits are never a good bet either. I keep hearing about reform which would update the wine shipping laws, but never see anything come from it. Damn litigious old farts!

  • Amazing episode (glad I cooled off enough after that garbage ad in the beginning to actually watch it). Best guest I have seen so far. Amazing insights all around. We need more people like this making wine, love the honesty. Looking forward to part 2.

  • johnfarrin

I really didn't read your comment until I posted my own but our first sentence is IDENTICAL!

  • Close your eyes and this guy sounds like Owen Wilson! Interesting show and great guest…appreciate his enthusiasm, knowledge and humility. A bit garrulous, but refreshing after yesterday's guest…

Excited about the next two wines…

  • AntonT

I love this episode! I was thinking last night when is Gary going to do a Loring Wine? That is so funny that the next day here it is!! LOVE IT!!

  • johnfarrin

GV QOTD: Duh, Elvis! He's sold way more records posthumously than when he was alive.

  • drt999

So, there's a 'coming soon' short ad reel now?
Do we get a cartoon next?

    Interesting guest, though

  • AWESOME! Episode….I would look for his wines just based on his passion and enthusiasm!!! Can't wait till ep2!

  • RANDINTHECITY

    GARY!!!
    BRIAN!!

Love this guest! Love this wine!
I have been drinking the wine, Ive been collecting! Its SO much fun!
And its not the ONLY thing I remember, but I DO hope the bottle/cork gets better, rather then goes away..
TOO much govt .. Govt is TOO BIG…less govt!!
QOTD: Life after death fame= Vincent VanGogh 🙂

OK, for tomorrow, will open a bottle of Gary's, watch the end of part 1 and part 2.
    Cant wait!

    xoxo

  • jimchem

This is really a good show. Can't wait till tomorrow.

You need to get lane Tanner on your show.

  • kv47

Gr8 episode. waiting for part 2. love the talk about the wine biz, startling the cost savings in screw caps. imho u shld do more episodes with guests where u nerd it up (like with Nicolas Joly and Jennifer Simonetti-Bryan). been going through a lot of the older shows and enjoying it. keep up the good work!!

  • jparadise

Not to rail on yesterday's guest but Brian is everything that he wasn't. This so far is a fantastic show. Honestly after the amount of interesting and intriguing conversation you've had so far I wouldn't give a a crap if this guy pitched me on a ponzi scheme or a timeshare in Boca. This is a real winemaker and great content.

QotD: To some extent Kurt Cobain. Yes he was successful while alive but in a more pop/scene way. Nobody really discussed that the guy was a true artist and and innovator until he was dead.

  • guymandude

That's a great guest, liked hearing about the start up.

  • ONUMello

Outstanding guest, I love the discussion & sharing of knowledge. I could listen to you two talk for hours; looking forward to part 2!

  • jaybloxham

Gary, I have a hard time believing you can't find a video recorder can't do a longer video than 30 minutes. My Flip camera does 2 hours. Sorry, now that I'm done ranting…I think Brian is a great guest. I can't wait for episode 2. I am on his e-mail list and I can't wait until I am able to buy his wines.

  • Scott
  • I suspect this is one of the best episodes of the year so far (I might be exaggerating a bit, but I enjoyed the guest and the conversation very much in this first part).

  • winecrazy

Yo Brian!!!! Why didn't you call me and tell me you were in town!!!!

  • Sonoma M@

    Fantastic guest!

  • FullOnNelson

Brian is an amazing guest and you both are jelling really well. Brian's honest take on wine and wine making is refreshing! A great balance of enthusiasm, knowledge and ego. As for the reference to the proposed law HR 5034, I wrote my congresswoman yesterday to tell her to vote NO for that stupid, special-interest-money-ridden law.

    Can't wait for tomorrow.

    QOTD: Bob Marley

  • srdonjulio

This dude is coooool! I'm sure there are many wine makers who have this gentleman's attitude toward the business of selling wine… just wish they could it! Looking forward to part 2.

  • Scott

Not a problem, hope they can ship to your state?

  • laurieinvt

What a fun guest- good job so far, Brian!
We particularly enjoyed the whole screw cap cost discussion. Stuff we had just never thought about- cool.
I'm impressed that he is focused on keeping costs down, and pleased to see demonstrated, once again, that when you start by building solid relationships the growth follows.
Two-parters can be annoying, but not this time!

  • slave2thevine

Biggie Smalls got a lot more attention for his music after his death…

  • orangebottle

    Gary,
Great, great, great show. is that 3 greats? 1,2,3 yes.
You were right yesterday telling us about the coming episodes.
This is why we watch the show. so much great info and insights. can't wait till tomorrow.
    thank you!

  • NIB

Finally an episode where Gary actually had to cut in, otherwise Brian would still be talking….kind of ironic. That being said I really like Brian and his attitude about wine making is pretty awesome, can't wait for Part Duex.
