This guest is probably okay but Jesus…does he like talking about himself…and, I’m sorry mate, your stories are not the most interesting. GV pretends to be interested but it’s pretty obvious that he’s as bored as hell. A rare dud

    sangria!

  • GREAT guest! Tons of good stories.

  • dsallen

This episode spoke to me! It's been a great week of shows GV. I was living in Austin when Fastball's hits came out. Good tunes!

  • Allan

    Has Gary written a book? ; )

Extremely entertaining show G. Your interview skills are on the up'n'up, kudos.

    Loooooooved this guest, ROCKANDROLLLLLLLL!!!!
Havn't heard of his band i must admit….. Everybody loves a good rock song, just as well a everybody loves an over-the-top wine….. Admit it!

Qotd: That was a big price….. One of the great Qpr's out there at the moment is a Saint Emilion Grand Cru called: Chateau de Fonbel, made by Alain Vauthier of Ausone. At only a fraction of Ausone's price, i think it could be about 35 bones in the US? It's a steal. Seek out the '06, trust me.. Trust me!!

At 170 bones you can get alot of great wine……. I'm not really into the wines at these price-points, but, maybe Angelus? Can you get that for 170? I dunno.

Try the one i mentioned above though, it's really good!!!

Qotd from me: When will we see a show on Rheingau Riesling Gary??? I'm dying to see you try some of these world-class minerally dry Rieslings: Georg Breuer, Robert Weil to name a few.

Having some white wine this evening in blind-tasting, and maybe some Rock music to go with it, could be classical as well……. Mixing it up!

Have a great weekend Vayniacs, and pleeeeeaaaaaaase keep this comment-section alive!!!!! ; )

    Cheers!

  • SourGrapesFC

    Greg Allman would approve.

  • SourGrapesFC

  • Randall

You are sooo right, Just Jack!! I’m not even into rock or pop, so in my preconceived arrogance I was just going to skip this one altogether. Then I, too, made it through a couple of minutes and was hooked. Thank God for second guesses…

  • Tom

Great video! had my first bottle of wine today after watching videos here.
Can't say it was great, but going to try a few more.
Such a great down to earth guy, with an awesome business attitude!

  • dminsf

Great show. I loved Mike's stories.

  • jaybloxham

    Great Show……
QOTD: Pavilion Rouge Margeaux or Chateau Palmer Alter Ego

  • Fun show, enjoyed it.

QOTD: Recent ones I've had that I think fit the bill: 2003 Clos de Marquis (Las Cases other vineyard) and 2003 Monbousquet.

  • I'll have to check out that Fonbel. I've never had any Bordeaux under $40 that's done anything for me.

  • corkscrew

Another good guest, still prefer Calif and Oregon Pinot's. http://www.winelx.com

  • I was in college when Fastball hit the scene, and such, they were there during the early years of my palette development. πŸ˜‰ Incredible story with Allman, BTW…I think a fictional story with your life as a basis could definitely appeal to people who enjoyed “Almost Famous”. I also LOVED your quote about age, and how it should never be hurdle to doing what you're passionate about. Great take-away from this ep. Magneto, nice.

QOTD: Haven't had a lot lately that have blown me away under the $70 price point. I am due for another case pick-up, so I will pack in some Bordeaux this time.

  • Richie

    Fun episode once again!

  • Peter (Denmark)

Great show, and nice that Gary makes room for the stories..
More shows on burgundy and Pinot Noir, thanks πŸ™‚

  • kosmik

    QOTD : ChΓ’teau Haut-Bailly from the neglected 2004 vintage… great Pessac-Leognan.

  • SourGrapesFC

That was pretty fantastic. On top of being a great story-teller, Miles exudes Austin, and it's always good to see that Bat City vibe making its way around the internets. And the off-hand “how is old Kermit” reference: priceless.

Gary, I am always a fan of wine talk, but, as with wine, variety is the spice of life, and I think these “out in the world” guest shows are a great addition to WLTV. As with good food, good wine and good conversation make a killer pairing. Thanks to both of you.

hah, humbly, no mate. i’m about 3000 pages in the goggle search queue heheh!

  • Thnx for getting it SGFC

  • mattgmann

I'm gonna see if my wine lady can track that one down allan.

Spanish wines for me tonight. One tempranillo, one priorat , and the 07 el nido clio.

Picked up one interesting bottle today, I think I'll open it as well. Domaine des Terres Falmet Cinsault 2008 vin de pays d'oc.

100% cinsault. I've never had one, at least not that wasn't a rose. Only like $12, so I don't expect much, but it will be nice to see what the individual flavor profile of cinsault is like.

I'm taking the weekend off music personally. First weekend without a show in recent memory…..going to take advantage of it.

  • zonk

    Assume show

  • Ozzy

Great show! I was in high school when Fastball had there hits and still love there music to this day. Great guest as well it was a real joy to listen to Miles's stories they were pretty awsome. Bottom line wine + music = killer show in my book. Good job GV and Miles you two nailed it today.

  • flavasauce

Wow that 30 minutes flew by, I could listen to Miles talk forever. Thanks Gary for letting him go on uninterupted πŸ˜‰ Love stories and attitude towards life. Great guest, love the music and wine combo on the show.

    QOTD: 2004 Chateau Corroneau

  • pbarr

G- Great show. Miles is one cool dude.

QOTD: I've got two…2000 Chateau Fontenil for $40 and 2003 Chateau Gigault for $30. Both have complexity, great black fruit and are long on the finish. I think they are really good wines.

  • Well, they were a “boy band product” like any other (NKOTB, menudo, nsync, etc), they had tons of fans and had two or three tolerable songs, but calling them good is a stretch.

    Cheers Gary Vee.

  • That episode was friggin' awesome. Thanks guys for an incredible show.
