This guest is probably okay but Jesus…does he like talking about himself…and, I’m sorry mate, your stories are not the most interesting. GV pretends to be interested but it’s pretty obvious that he’s as bored as hell. A rare dud

Wow…that was a great one. How many of you went back to listen to “The Way” after this one (or even spent the .99 on iTunes)? Top '90s tune, that one.

So many good Bordeaux under $70. I'll go for the '05 Haut Brisson (St. Emilion). It really needs some air before drinking, but it gets better every time I open one.

  • Michael Clark

one of the best WLTV episodes EVER. went straight to YouTube and brought up “The Way” and “Out Of My Head” talk about some serious memories. love, love, love the pinot noir / burgundy eps

  • As a celebrity interview show it was entertaining, as a wine show it was not.

QOTD: Still looking though I admit to not have tried many yet.

  • leapinggnome

It's only rock and roll but I love it. Great guest, great stories, and good wine. Who could ask for anything more.

  • Rachel A

I have to agree – loved that episode! Miles was just so interesting and humble, and I really liked how Gary and he interacted. The wine part was good too! Bravo Gary – great guest!

  • TooYoungToDrink

Absolutely amazing episode. His stories were awesome! GREAT show

  • Great ep! Even though you only spent a teensie amount of time on the wine, the stories were quite entertaining.

QOTD: My favorite Bordeaux so far has been Château Haut-Bonneau 2006 Bordeaux from St. Emilion. I loved it! http://bit.ly/bd4D5n

  • Capt_M

What a cool, cool dude this guest is!! Absolutely one of the best. You will always do well, Miles. QOTD: Absolutely Gevrey Chambertin all the way. God placed His merciful finger there, and it is for all of us to enjoy. Very, very cool dude Mr. Zuñiga is, and very good wine picks, I don't care what Gary says. Thanks guys. A pleasure to know.

  • I watch quite a bit of your shows, miss some without a doubt. Nonetheless, I LOVED THIS SHOW! actually sparked me to post my first comment.. EVER! great show Gary. GREAT.

  • Capt_M

Am I missing something here? was the QOTD about Bordeaux or about Burgundy?

  • sbackholm

Good episode. Miles seems like a genuinely nice guy.

Keep up the good work Gary.

  • Just Jack

I’m glad I’m not the only one.

  • YoungDave

GREAT down-to earth guest with an AMAZING non-wine story for boosted entertainment value. Fantastic episode.
QOTD: Tough, tough, tough question. SO many options within the $100 range, and even more under $170, but a couple that will be ready to drink a bit sooner come to mind:
    2005 Chateau Figeac (St Emilion)
    2005 Chateau Haut Selve (Graves)

  • Although, I do understand your line of reasoning, and you are obviously keeping a keen eye on the content, I think that because you could not make it through the entire show, you may have missed the crux of this one in particular. At one point, GV actually says, “this is what wine is about…tasting, talking, and spending time together” (paraphrased). This was the goal of the episode, it seemed clear…in this case the scoring of the wine and the geek data relay were secondary. The stories were primary, and because of that, interesting connections were made, like that fact that Miles actually knew Kermit Lynch when he was working at the restaurant.

Who knows why the guest concentration is high in recent episodes is…GV has a busy schedule, and sometimes the calendar just lines up in funny ways. I’m sure he has us in mind when he sees an opportunity to book someone. And frankly, he should be able to have anyone that he would enjoy talking to, even if it does diverge slightly from hard core wine talk.

Your criticisms are certainly valid, but really speak less to the organization of the show, and more to your own particular tastes in what you like to see. Good on you for expressing yourself. I would however suggest (given that you are a loyal watcher) that like wine itself, there is limitation in only consuming what we know that we like, and opportunity lost when we do not broaden our experience along with our palates.
    Cheers.

  • good for both of you guys and anyone else who hung in there…I’m just not up the music, and had no idea who Miles was, but was laughing my ass off at his adventures.

  • Randall

    I’ve seen some Mex Cabs here in Sacramental… All I can say is… stick with the skunked brews!! (If you feel the need to stick w/ the Mex theme, do Cucuapa or at least Negro Modelo) :}

Yes, mattgmann… her rather copius stash of ELLL—-ESSS—-DEEE!!

  • Brent THANK U SO MUCH!

  • over a day later, since watching the show…and I'm still wishing I'd had the presence of mind to find a job in a restaurant's wine room when I was younger.

QOTD: Bordeaux is a region where the wines are in a constant state of flux…so I guess is that my answer changes each year. My favorite from 2005 so far was the Château La Tour de Mons (about $25/bottle). I think it offered wonderful structure, value, and regional specifics that make it a great deal. However, as each vintage comes and goes I think it's important to get out and taste as much as you can to judge for yourself…

  • golflarsen

Great show again G. Way to mix things up with the guest. Not a big Burgundy drinker myself, as it is a huge undertaking to cope with the nuances and all the wineries in the area. As for Bordeaux, the q of the day, I feel more at home. In the price range you could find all kinds of greatness, but I thought I'd share a little less “known”, or popular at least, chateau. Namely the 2000 Chateau Belair, St Emilion. This is utterly profound, and showing superbly at the moment. I could go on about the Leovilles or any of the other “super-seconds”, but I think it is pretty cool to find this kind of quality in a price point that will suit many a wine lovers budget. It's rockin'

  • Randall

‘Yoko Ono’?? Really?? She may be off-center… but ‘Yoko’?? OUCH!!

  • theDude

Miles was very cool. The last couple weeks of the show have been the best since I started watching!

    I want to be first!

  • JiminAtlanta

That was a very entertaining show. The 30 minutes just flew by. I liked the Fastball hit tunes. They can't be from that many years ago! I too enjoy french wine and other old world wines. I drink more Rhone because of the price and value. I don't drink enough Bordeaux to be able to pick a favorite.

  • Miles was awesome. A great story for anybody who is trying to find their way in life. Not only do you have to bust your ass,you also need to be aware of what is going on around you.

QOTD: I know it isn't french, but it is made with the bordeaux 5. BV Reserve Tapestry 2006
For around $30.00 this wine will make you want to escape to a dark corner alone and not talk to anyone till the bottle is empty. Nearly, a religious experience.

  • Beeper

Best episode in recent memory. Thank you so much for allowing him to tell all of his stories!

  • K4C3Y
