Thank you for bringing this episode to the Vayniacs! And thank you Budge for all your selfless contributions..your tenacity..and for turning your grief and anger into positive energy.. (I promised myself, I wdnt get too political..but I wonder what Mr. Brown thinks of the new age criteria the govt decided upon, stating how woman should really WAIT to get checked)

    OH..Im back!! 🙂

QOTD: Find the top specialists..visit ALL of them, if this is possible..research alternative medicines, talk with women who have been thru different types of treatment…research the best insurance companies that would cover my treatment and make a change if necessary……and go for a long massage and pop my favorite wine! 😉

Im for certain buying this wine!

    You had me at Cleavage…

  • cellarrat5

    Jesus, plug much?

  • FriscoGrapes

Budge, God bless you and your cause. Thank you for sharing your story with us. You are a great man.

QOTD: Find your website and learn as much as I can about the alternative medicine choices available.

  • mattgmann

Wow SPAM! Way to intrude on a breast cancer plug ASSHAT. How about advertising through real outlets instead of stealing comment space on a site that isn't yours.

    FUCK OFF DICKNOSE!

  • Social conscience wine show…awesome. Funny to see GV hold back on the Oak Monster at 16:30. Budge was a great guest. Good luck Cleavage Creek.

  • mattgmann

If I don't want to buy the wine, can I still donate?

  • You need to get this at Wine Library so I can buy some. Restricted in NJ.

  • Brian Social

Great cause. When I first landed on the site today and saw the winery name, I was going to crack a joke. But watching the video, and understanding the cause, I think it's just brilliant.

QOTD: I don't exactly know what I'd do first, but I'd definitely make a decision to stay as supportive and optimistic as possible at all times.

  • jimkay21

I;m with mattgmann, Poor choice. The asinine way this was posted makes me think the the event will suck equally

  • jimkay21

NIce show, good cause, real guy.
    Nice selection GV

  • FABULOUS episode! I started following @CleavageCreek on twitter months ago because I believed in their cause. It was truly one of the most sobering moments in my life when I was told that there was a spot on my mammogram and no one could tell me if I was ok. Your life takes on a whole new meaning and I just thought of all the woman in my small circle that I know that have been diagnosed. It is a horrible percentage and I am so glad that your winery is calling attention to this and doing great things to help those still alive today. Worrying about how you will be able to pay for treatment is a big stress causer and to alleviate that element is also a wonderful thing. I am sorry that you lost your wife – I'm sure she was a wonderful, loving person.

QOTD: After the initial shock wore off, I asked close friends their opinions and began a search for a less evasive treatment because they are out there, its just not recommended by insurance agencies who then tell us how to treat our bodies. I found an alternative Dr. he took a simple blood test and determined it was not cancer. I was one of the lucky ones but three of my friends were not. Please keep up the great work…we (women) need more of you who care out there!!

P.S. will for sure order a bottle or two!!

  • johnfarrin

QOTD: As a major stroke survivor I totally agree with Budge that ALL people need to take 100% control of their own healthcare. You know your body better than anyone. And last, get stubborn. If you make up your mind to beat your adversity you have an incredibly better chance of doing just that.

    Great show Gary!

My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer 5 years ago, and went through chemo treatment. After losing one breast and all her hair, she was declared “cancer free”. A few months ago the cancer came back, and she started chemo again. Two weeks ago she announced she is no longer doing the “therapy” because she felt like it was killing her faster than the cancer. She is now active, eating properly, and trying to stay positive.
I don't know how this will all pan out, but I know that “quality of life” is very important, and I have to respect my mom's wishes. I'll say my extra prayers, and wonder if someday doctors will look at chemo the same we we now view blood-letting; i.e., “what were they thinking?”

Keep up the good work Budge.

  • maxmurrey

Gotta love Budge! Authentic and interesting. Brilliant and bold. Budge, you've won my heart!

  • The Hairy Hillbilly

My “significant other” is a breast cancer survivor. Thanks, Gary and Budge, for the show.

  • “Charming, amazing . . .” yes he is and this episode must go up on the Hall of Fame. What an amazing guest for a most wonderful cause. On top of that, the wines look to be quite good and I plan on buying a mixed case, at the very least.

I must admit, at the 20 min mark and at the end, I found myself tearing up. Gary, my man, it's at times like this that I connect with you in many levels and admire what you mean to me and everyone in the Vayner Nation. Thank you for having this amazing advocate for women on your show in their battle against this deadly disease.

QOTD: Gather as much information about the disease as humanly possible would be foremost and find out who are the most noted oncologists and cancer centers in the U.S. Also, I would change my diet, no sugar since I found out from a close friend who was diagnosed with breast cancer this past November, has had a double mastectomy, radiation and now chemotherapy and she was told to drastically reduce her sugar since cancer feeds off of it.

I send my condolences to Budge on the loss of your wife and my admiration on your dedication and efforts to rid the world of this disease.

    Sincerely,
    Dom

P.S. Gary, your interviewing skills were impeccable. But what is “Petie Syrah.” 🙂

  • benkearney

    Great show. Seriously. Awesome.

QOTD: Explore options. More options equal better coverage.

  • Really not a whole lot to say because I'm sure that everyone that watches this show will get the sincerety. Great job.

    QOTD: Hugs.

  • Michael Clark

GREAT ep GREAT cause 🙂 Budge is the real deal. GARY you are really bringing the thunder these days my man

  • Michael Clark

QOTD: almost forgot to answer this. Next? Love and time. My daughter is 21 years old and she just scared the crap out of us when the doc said she needed to be tested for ovarian cancer on April 11. It turns out she needs a gull bladder operation. Phew! She will be sitting down with the surgeon May 19 to set a date for surgery. I am going to take off work and just be her dad and her buddy through the whole thing. and cook her breakfast in the morning with all the authorized foods LOL

  • Robby Mac

One is not “invited” as a guest if they must pay $150.00 plus 20% gratuity. We would much rather send those funds to a cause like what was presented today. Were you the distributor that Budge referred to?? All that fancy wine learnin' didn't teach you tact or class. Come back when you grow up and get over yourself.

  • LonelyGrape

Congratulations to Budge for being so genuine and passionate. It takes a lot of guts to actually do something about a cause not just sitting back and getting angry & sad. Watching my daughter just accepting the loss of the use of her legs when she may have been able to walk again if she really tried, has been one of the 2 hardest things I have had to endure (not for a minute am I trying to discount what she was and is going through).

Good to hear Aussie wines getting a good plug.

  • Zeek27

Well done – my wife and I went through this eight years ago – she found it early, annual follow ups – all is well…. Great cause…. ….just wished someone shipped legally to Tennessee….
QOTD – find someone who has been through it and start with the questions….

  • Randall

Sure, I'd love to come… if you donate ALL the evening's take (NOT the proceeds, but ALL the cash) to breast or other women's cancer (my mom is a cancer survivor), you lowlife!!!!

  • Great show
QOTD; Get info on all my options.

  • Randall

Sorry, GV. I try to keep my comments enlightening and worth reading, but my jaw DROPPED when I saw this rude, self-involved individual's post!! I mean, isn't this guy the very definition of “asshat”? Just saying…

  • michael D

It would be great to be able to see your face, but I can't because of the wine bottles. A little tip for next time….

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

    Great post!

Good to see you back! = )

  • orangebottle

I?m speechless. This is a great show in so many ways. Great guest and great cause.
Qotd: First thing is not to be scared. There are so many people gone through it and survived. I would do my own home work, educating and understanding what you have first. Then ask the doctors and survives to see what your options are. You then pick the best choice.

  • ahillsey

    Love him.

  • scottEJ

Thank you G for bringing such a warm and caring person on the show. I am certainly going to be on the lookout for this cause as well as spread the word. QOTD: I would do the best I could to be supportive, helpful in research, and willing to do whatever possible to make her feel the best she possibly can.

  • pbarr

Budge – Sorry for your loss. I admire you for turning this terrible event into a positive. You're a good man. I'm buying some of your wine.

QOTD: I guess I'd track down others who have been through this and start asking lots of questions.

  • Can't believe I'm the first to comment on the “Wnie Library” typo in the intro! Mott, you drinking a bit of wine during the editing?

  • Did she have the BRCA mutation? That is what my wife has. She had both her breasts removed at the age of 30 to decrease the chance of it coming back. Good luck to your mother.
