I hate to say this but that was one of the worst episodes ever. You have to bring a bit more to the table as a guest than bare-faced hustle and this guy…(and I’m sure he’s okay) by his own admission brought absolutely zilch. AND he used the spit bucket which is an absolute no no for guests who are not big wig wine people. Shocker.

Weak show, wine & guest. Last few shows have not done anything for me, how about having only guests who grow grapes or make wine? Enough of the salesmen.

I have not looked at thier website, but I find some Scottish art and
Celtic art in general interesting. Lots of blues greens, keltic
designs etc. Glennorangie signet (one of the most amazing I have tried
out of the 40 or so. Gold leaf Celtic design unlike anything I have
seen on a wine bottle or otherwise. The QPR is not that good on that
one, but I needed it. One of the three I got in Scottland when I was
    there last.

I’ll be there Brother…..this week. Very lively fur sur….I think we even mentioned you.

  • Good show. Good work to M2 for getting on the show. You get my competiveness roused up by doing what you did. Good for you!

QOTD: My pref would be a multi week wine country tour. Too many places to choose one (Italy, Cali, France, etc.)

  • missatiejacket

I always complain about the non wine business guests, but I liked this guy. I still say you should only have people on who are really into wine, but I understand that you respected his effort.

dream vacation? New Zealand. both islands. wineries and sightseeing about 50/50. definitely climb at least one mountain, probably 2 or 3.

  • scottEJ

Sadly, I had very high hopes for these two wines. Whaaa…whaaa…whaaaa………

QOTD: Too many to mention. But, I'll certainly do an extendo wine trip touring ALL the major regions in Italy – from the top of the boot to the bottom of the heal.

  • cellarrat5

Look out castello, I'm gunin for ya! πŸ˜‰

I would be honored to sit in the room of brilliance, however I fear my “hustle” would fall short.

  • Michael "M2" Malanga

Hey guys this is M2! thanks for the love. It was a blast on the show with Gary. Sorry to those who were disappointed! if you want to join the group Search Facebook “Get Mike On WLTV” or follow on twitter @mikeysteaks

    thanks again!!!

  • cellarrat5

That would be an epic show, doin 5 knots wind wippin at my coat!!

  • cellarrat5

I must say that I do agree with you John, however the fact is that he made it on through social networking. Superficial as it may be it served its purpose in this instance. Take it from someone who has tried desperately to fight the good fight and lost, it is whats in.

  • njc2o

Weak weak weak weak. Gary enough with the guests already. Let's get some good 3-4 bottle episodes in before I rip my hair out.

  • I don't care what anyone says. Love the guests, maybe not these kind of guests. Sorry, Msquared. I think I'm just jealous that it's not me on the show. πŸ™‚

QOTD: Japan, Ireland, Scotland and Wales and Egypt. Then, there is this place in Vermont that has a Falconry school. *Sigh*

  • cellarrat5

Decent show, going to have to agree with most of the posts thus far; if your a fan of the show you need to have at least two QOTD ready (one back up). Will be looking for the Paolo, need to broaden my Italian horizons.

QOTD: I would find the most isolated exotic island paradise, take 15 or 20 Vayniacs with me, somehow fly in a giant shipping container of wine hand picked by GV himself and have blind tastings all day every day. Brown bags, Mott GV, the whole WLTV staff and all the scotch I could drink. Hey, you said DREAM vacation, although it would end up turning into a dream permanent vacation.

  • Randall

“points @ MelbaLI” Er, there'll be some complex 'cool temp' beers, not any crappy 'ice cold' macrobeers… πŸ˜‰

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

I like the change of pace, Gary! Congrats on getting on the show, Mike! I like your honesty on the wines. You didn't try to impress GV with some off the wall flavor. I suppose I'm up next to join the show, but we'll be smoking cigars and pairing wines…lol.

I have not ventured into Italian wines very far, but am open to all suggestions. Maybe I'll post that up on the board.

QOTD: I'd like to go to Cuba once the embargo drops. It would be a dream come true to tour the El Laguito and Partagas Factories!

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

    Good job, Mike!

  • JScott

Hmmm… second in a row “cannot be played on iPod” episode. Can you publish a non-HD version for the podcast subscribers? That might solve the issue. TIA.

  • johnfarrin

I guess I'm just too old but the idea of achieving some noteriety by
becoming a Heidi Montag or Spencer Pratt has absolutely no value to it. At
the end of the day it's who you have become because of your personnal
accomplishments that will define your worthiness in th8is life. If, in the
end, you can honestly say that you tried to do the most with what you were
given then I deem your life a success.

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

You might not adore me, but I would be more than glad to go with you. That would be a great place to visit!

  • Just Jack

All that wine and scotch on an isolated island and no ladies? Now what kind of a vacation is that?

  • Randall

    They're automatically IMPLIED, Just Jack!!

  • Just Jack

Now that is indeed a question bubbles would ask. Well, actually Ricky more likely but you get my point.

  • Just Jack

LOL. My mistake. Of course you are right Randall, I should have taken who the participants in the conversation were into consideration and I would have come to that conclusion automatically.

QOTD: Dream Vacation–A Villa in Tuscany with a personal guide to show us all the best food, wine, and sights to see. Fiji, Tahiti, French Riviera, Greece, CA Wine Country,Pacific Northwest Wine Country, British Columbia….I can go on and on…..

  • Randall

    Vayniac Nation, baby!!

  • Just Jack

would you settle for two weeks in Vegas with a man you barely know?

  • cellarrat5

Hey, I said I would include 20 or 30 Vayniacs, there are more women
    out there than we realize!

Getting a couple hundred people to join a facebook group is not “crushin it”…but congrats on raising $11 for charity. That was very thoughtful.

  • Randall

    Ep #868… CALIFORNIA BUBBLIES!!

  • Nice. I feel the guest episodes are great, I hope you keep bringing guest albeit a more controlled pace maybe.

QOTD: trip around the world with a finish in the Seychelles for a week.

  • Sweet! *Opens suitcase* Now let's see…some Brooklyn Brewery, Bluepoint, Oh! Some Long Ireland too. *Looks at now full suitcase* Oh well, who needs a change of clothes and clean underwear right?

    πŸ˜›

  • Aw yeah! Cellarrat5 is getting a Christmas card this year. ;P

  • QOTD: Southern Spain / Portugal !!!

  • The show was fun, being a novice it was nice seeing a novice's perspective on WLTV!
I was shocked that he got surprised by the QOTD, I thought he was pulling your leg when he made out like he was unprepared, I seriously thought it was an act and he was going to come out with the best QOTD ever.

It landed up being a pretty good question anyway.

I would love to go on a french wine country vacation for as long as possible.

  • Randall

    I am suitably humbled!! πŸ˜‰

  • Amato De Civita

I love it! Tasting wine is such a passion for me that I bought a wine aroma kit company and am driven to educate the world on our olfactory senses. The sense of smell is the most connexted sense we have…can save your life…can awaken the deepest emotions…and excite the rest of your senses instantly.
Wine Awakenings…sharpen yoiur sense of smell…be smarter…enjoy your life!

  • Randall

    The party's getting bigger, cellarrat5…

  • yeah calm down the guests, i'm guested out

  • Sorry Gideon

  • huh

  • cellarrat5

There are many more important things to bring!

  • A dumb Rhein king

lol. You call yourself Vay-ner-chuk on the phone.

QOTD: Somewhere I wouldn't get pwnd.

  • Pot Bingsu. Not a fan. Way too sweet for me and the canned fruit pushes my limits.

Great show. Congratulations to Mike for both his persistence and thoughtfulness.

QOTD: Dream Vacation would be two weeks in France, two weeks in Italy for a total of four weeks of food, wine, fun and a little education.
