line of the day – ‘Kinda like Lebron finished that game against the Pistons in 05 or 06 when he scored the last 25 or 30 points’

The first wine GV tasted was so nice that for a moment he was almost speechless. Now that’s a real rarity and pretty funny

Good to see a Paso producer getting some good press – many good producers, especially on the west side. Another up & comer bringing the thunder is Epoch [ http://epochwines.com/ ]- they just had their initial offering & couple weeks ago & sold out in 2 days. They also have Justin Smith of Saxum in as their consulting wine maker. I am a bit biased on them as I do have an inside connection there – but Spectator also gave them some good score. If they get good scores from Parker later this year, watch out, they will explode.

  • I am fighting πŸ˜‰

  • Luc I always mix it up!

QOTD — haven't had a 'wow' white this summer yet, but 2005 Monarchia Cellars Zen (from the ZengΓΆ grape) was fun and solid

La Sirena Moscato made by none other than Heidi Peterson Barrett. Floral, Jasmine, Kiwi with great mouthfeel. Silk. Yum!

  • A dumb Rhein king

I'm beginning to think that you actually like wine πŸ˜€

QOTD: I can't think of any great outside the box white wines that I've had, but I have had a horrrrrrible out of the box white wine that had a TA of 1.3% That is twice the acidity of normal wine. It tasted like drinking a lemon warhead.

  • Decent show.

QOTD: Depends on what you call “Unique”, 2007 F.X. Pichler GrΓΌner Veltliner Smaragd 'M' if GV counts, if not probaby 2008 Linden Seyval

The couch is in the ER. Someone did a pile driver on it or shot it or???

  • Does it classify you as a Vayniac if you see on twitter a new episode is out and the moment you get to a friends house for dinner you make them get out the laptop to watch the show.

I think the MIT statistics boy should do a study on if Gary rates wines higher on the laid back Friday couch vs. at the table.

  • that viognier sounds like the bomb.
have a great holiday weekend everybody…enjoy and be safe!

QOTD: The lake champlain valley white blend in bulk in my cellar…most of it will be bottled, but we are having a White River White Sangria party in a couple of weeks…test batch last week was wicked.

    Hey Gary,
Great to see some new up and coming Cali Wines…. for the question of the day, most recent CA white I had the gave me the same reaction as you got with the Booker was
the Darioush Viognier (Napa) … All I could say was wow!! Perfect balance, great fruit, great viscosity, and wonderful finish.. It also is around $42.00 but that juice is worth it……Not to mention their fantastic cabs, shiraz, and cab Franc……. And the Winery is gorgeous…..
