91/100

lines of the day, ‘I despise the Patriots to such an extent that it almost suffocates me’ and ‘Mott’s head just went crazy like a bobble head so I know I got it right’

I loved it when Mott chases Gary out of the room in the search for a clean glass. GV basically infers that although Mott couldn’t find clean glasses, he’ll find them no problem. Mott smacks this one out of the park when none are found, much to his delight and GV’s annoyance!

  • Nice shout out to Bear Republic! W00t!

For a Cleveland guy, you sure do like the Sonoma County goods! Nice shout outs on the site for Lagunitas, Russian River, and on the WLTV for Healdsburg.

SchneiderMike, you need to try 3rd Street Aleworks, one street over from Russian River. They just released a new Hop Monster Bombay Rouge, reminiscent of blind pig from Russian River.

  • Zino

QOTD: Wine is what is keeping me from expanding my beer palette.

  • ah, beere, yes, good 3 guests left…

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

Awesome!!! I love craft beer. If it wasn’t for wine, I’d be drinking this kind of beer all of the time.

    1 more episode to go!!!!

  • And Gary, there is a Beer you, and she is awesome @thebeerwench http://drinkwiththewench.com/

    top 10?

  • Love when you do the beer episodes. You’re wrong that beer doesn’t evolve the way wine does in the bottle. You have to search out some sour beers or even the Stone Brewing Vertical Epic series.

  • Anonymous

    top 11!

  • Looks like I’ll have to go craft beer shopping before watching this

  • Love love love @schneidermike / @belchingmonkey (and beer) and STOKED to watch this episode. Thanks for putting two exceptionally charismatic and awesome men on the same screen for me.

  • Always expanding my beer palate. Go to brew is usually 3rd St. Aleworks, Bodega Head, IPA. Or my own homebrewed IPA.

    Great show GaryV.

  • NY Pete

    hmmm … beer

  • TheSmirkingLurker

Currently watching a non-wine WineLibraryTV and am enjoying it. Of course, the second guest in as many days despite Gary’s promises to the contrary. Gary’s got a great memory, but I think it’s kind of short.

  • Tim

    GV to Wyoming…bring it on!!!!!!

  • QOD 1: The only things that hold me back are availability and finances. BC is getting better mind you, and I feel I’m at the forefront of the movement here.

QOD 2: Red Racer IPA or ESB are my go to every day beers. That said, it’s hard to say there is even such a thing as a go to every day beer.

  • Beer, I have a big stash of different very strange ones in my home. Vintage ales good for storing 20 years.
Really good Mott, love the cameo 🙂
70% cacao count dark ale, , porter, stout, yes. Mocca and stout, hmm
I don’t like grapefruit, and IPA is often very grapefruit, maybe I’ll go Double IPA oaked next.
QOTD: Nothing, I try different beer all the time. Gary; Right now its Black Rocket Porter, a Swedish made porter made with Californa hops.

  • Bear Republic need to stop breaking out the lawyers and focus on making quality beers. Good beer, bad ownership.

  • Jvieceli

Schneider Mike knows beer but he doesn’t know Jets football… as a side note I won my fantasy league in ’85 when I had the Wesley Walker/Ken O’Brien hook-up.

Awesome show!! Love it when the guest is as relaxed about being on as Mark was. It just makes the show so much more fun!!

I echo Bur.gr earlier comment – wassup with the big news coming sign?? tell us already or is that saved for tomorrow and episode 900?

  • Anonymous

Fun show! You and Mike had a real “stream of consciousness” thing going on there. I don’t drink enough beer to worry about expanding my beer palate although I have been to a beer tasting sponsored by my local cigar store that was very interesting. My “go to” beer is Fat Tire from the Belgium Brewing Company of Colorado.

  • QOTD:
Blue Point Toasted Lager – Sam Adams Summer Ale – Mission St. Hefeweizen

  • Brandonglee

Great show as always Gary keep up the good work.

  • On the cusp of 900 and you move to beer, controversial, or revolutionary! Dug the change-up… MY FAVORITE EPISODE. I dug this sooo much yet I do not get too excited about beer. I loved this episode!!!!!!!!! It official I am traveling to NJ to this place. I also want to have a bottle of beer ( I am WFM/Hitimewine immediately). M Schnieder is a funny dude. You called him Mark (Twice!!!) mr. V. I loved the “Greg” play at the end.

QOTD: I am not sure why I am not more into but I am going to work on it. Taste has been a factor.
My go to beer is the Rogue Hazelnut Brown Ale.

    F*&Kin’ Best Episode!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Guys, I laughed so hard I got in trouble in my cubicle.

QOTD: I am not sure… I am going to work on it.

  • Love the White Birch logo, excellent branding and packaging.

QOTD: I dislike beer, not sure what it is, but something about beer is
off-putting to me. Gimmie wine, cider, mead and spirits, pass on beer.

  • Dude…. you are awesome. Again, I feel you on the beer thing but I am trying to work past it since I am the only guy who loves wine in my close clique.

  • Correction: It is Official…

  • Beerbro

Beer…so many different styles. David Copperfield’s House of Beer, the Hop Devil Grill, and the Belgian Room of NYC have huge beer selections. Don’t forget to to the big beer fest in October. Visit worldbeerfest.com to find out more about it.

  • Nice Esiason jersey garyvee!

  • #899 – the beginning of the end. I can hear the irish bagpipes playing in the back of this episode. An episode you covered beer, the beginning to the end of Winelibrary TV as we know it. Drinking beer out of wine glasses…. waste of time.

  • eastbayrich

Gary, I think you were remembering Rogue “Dead Guy Ale”. I am surprised that you both love Rogue, as I’ve never been a fan. I’m thinking I need to give them another chance.

I am also enamored with Bear Republic, though Red Rocket is more my style… slightly less on the hops and about 3 times the body and depth.

QOTD: I love trying new beers, but I know my palate and I’m pretty picky, so I’m hesitant to drop $10 on a 22 oz. bottle unless it’s a “sure thing”.

QOTD: My “go to” beer is Red Rocket for an Ale, but I’ve recently branched out to Lagers (which I have basically ignored for the last 20 years). I like Trumer Pils and Kronenbourg.

  • Yeah! I love me some Oak Aged Yedi! Thx for the mixup Gary.

  • Good one: Beer and Sports.

QOTD: Well, this town is home to Cervecería Cuahutémoc Moctezuma (recently acquired by the Heineken Group), and Sierra Madre Brewing Co., and Casta Beers, so we have several go-to beers around here: Carta Blanca, Bohemia, Minerva, Indio, Regio, Tecate, Negra Modelo, Victoria, Pacífico, Corona, Sol (all of these are available everywhere). In the last 3-4 years there has been a wave of imports like Carlsberg, Newcastle Brown Ale, Heineken, Gallo, San Miguel, Stella Artois, Saporo, Kirin, Guinness, Shiner Bock, and everything from Anheuser-Busch, Miller, Coors, Sam Adams, etc… I personally buy depending on the occasion, I drink beer sporadically, but try to mix it up, there is always something different to try.

  • JonSpade

I don’t know if as a Canadian, I could drink a beer that smells both skunky and fishy in the same boquet…taste is so subjective.

    Happy anniversary, Justin!

Questions otd — nothing, and porters!

  • Really enjoyed this show, probably because I’m a HUGE sports fan and football fan.

Not really a go to beer but I’d say a nice refreshing Summer Lager when it’s hot out.

  • Nothing wrong with refreshing Benjamin. Do me a favor and try a Saison like Victory Helios or Great Divide Collette. Let me know what you think. Thanks for watching. You are awesome.

  • Haha funny thing, I was just searching Wine Library last night for beer videos and watched a few. You read my mind!

I’ve been homebrewing for about a year now and would love to see more beer videos, or perhaps even Beer Library!

  • Jon, you’re right, but you’d be missing out. Often the worse the bouquet, the better the brew.

  • I will echo NY Pete and say “beer?” Given that, one must assume there was a bus from Austin that showed up at your door with a myriad of guests since you have worn the same shirt for 3 days now? 🙂

QOTD #1: Umm, 10 bones a bottle will keep me from expanding my “beer palate” for sure though one every 6 mos might work.

QOTD #2: Guinness on tap at a bar or a very, very cold German beer at home during the summer.

    Cheers!

P.S. Welker is >>>>>>> Edelman. Not even close.

Beer? oh, sure. Why not. Just don’t do bottled water library TV, ok?
good guest. Blatz, I knew he was from Cleveland! (I’m from Youngstown) short funky dark brown bottles. yum.
QotD: Beer then wine and you’ll be fine. Wine then Beer – you’ll feel queer. I like IPAs and Guinness, but rarely drink beer (like once every 3-4 months) Blatz isn’t available in NC. :* )

  • Rich, YOU are the reason I do belchingmonkey.com. I don’t want anyone to drop money on a beer that sucks. I taste them so that hard working people like you have some information before they drop that Hamilton.

Glad you like the Bear Republic. Red Rocket is amazing. The Hop Rod is amazing, but if you don’t like hops, wait to find it on draft and ask for a taste. Thanks for watching Gary’s show.

  • That was my fault. I came down from Boston and did not bring the right glassware. To be frank, we should have used something like a snifter and wine glasses are pretty close.

  • Anonymous

    too funny.

  • Thanks for the reminder!

  • As a fellow Canadian I can tell you it’s quite possible. I know tons of sour fans, myself included.

  • How much would you spend on wine per bottle? Just curious.

  • First of all, your handle is awesome. Dinosaur Jr is one of my favorite bands ever. J Mascis reinvented the guitar solo.

Who knew that Greg Voinerchock had such a beer friendly audience? Thanks for watching!

    😉
