Such a big crush on K Murph. And licorice.

  • Just Jack

Why can’t I get perverted on the QOTD? I like to give perverted answers to the QOTD.

  • Just Jack

Oh and the Traturri sounds like a monster QPR. I will be looking forward to a case of that if I can get it.

  • Panda is great stuff. I really liked the stare that Gary gave Mott after missing the 85 ref. I thought that it would be let go… it wasn’t. Nice show, love the field trips!

QOTD: I am Dutch (a great preface to all my qotd’s) so we eat a lot of licorice and I remember eating some with my grandma when I would visit her in Den Haag. Great times.

  • Just Jack

I can do without the Licorice, but I have to admire your other tastes Hyperdrew. Kristen was looking lovely in this episode.

  • Admanscott

No question about it…Good and Plenty! They have been rocking my world for 58 years.

  • Tofferotti

I love that Lopez. I’ve been a huge fan of theirs since Gary had a red one on the show several years ago. Plus they have tons of old vintages available for not too much money. Good for birthday presents. Had this bottling in a different vintage at Casa Mono in NYC. They had about 40 different Lopez de Heredia selections on their wine list. For the price, this is awesome stuff. I advise to follow Gary’s lead and drink it at room temperature. There is dramatically less flavor if it is cold. A little bit of decanting opens a whole lot more flavor.

    nice program.
    licorice rox.
never had it with wine. but thats what i will do this weekend.

    QOTD: licorice drops. love it.

QOTD: It’s mean, but I love tricking people who I know don’t like licorice with licorice flavored things… the easiest is with black Neccos, which look a lot like purple Neccos. Their reaction is always priceless.

  • Jeebus. You called out KMurph live on WLTV. Ouch.

QOTD – All black licorice experiences are the best. Twizzlers ain’t licorice. It ain’t even food. And grapevines are not legit.

PS – Love the no/few guest style of the recent WLTV’s. It’s classic and timeless. The recipe should not deviate. ;]

loved the show, ironic and quirky , I was given just prior to viewing the spectacular program loved the tour thru the building made me feel like i was there, well i was given cherry twizzles and i know its not panda but its effin weird that your show i would be eating licorice scarey sherry, omg, well since we cannot get perverted icannot answer your qod so as it stands loved the show. thanks again so very very very much wink wink

  • MTmax

fantastic show! still waiting for you to crown or dismantle taurasi though…

  • Drew, don’t see it as a call out. A lot of people don’t know this but KMurph is the true force behind wine library tv. GV was going out to pay his respects to the Murph. 😛

  • Wow..this is the do wines and food Melba doesn’t love week. I do love the new shirt. I think Mott was thrown off by it. It wasn’t in Pink family. 🙂

    QOTD: Licorice bleck….

  • Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand. I see is Disqus is behaving itself with you.

  • Just Jack

Ilkka, I checked out your show – watched the episode with Mr. De Pina. I am very impressed. I love how you have taken those elements of what Gary does that make sense to you and made them your own. It is your show with a little (Insert the shoulder bump thing GV does) nod to what he has already created. Kippis!

  • good episode, 2 wines to seek out that look real good. laughed my ass off when GV just stared at Mott haha
    QOTD: eating it

  • Anonymous

    She’s even nicer in person.

  • Anonymous

Not really.. but Mott sent me an email suggesting I update my Internet Explorer…have I dont that yet? NO! LOL And I have not left comments because of it..so I truly will update …

GV – Don’t really have one unfortuneately! Interesting show…I gotta drink more Primitizo!

    QOTD: Answered above!

  • Licorice pairing and you didn’t have a Rhone wine??? What where you thinking, GV???

    😛

  • The bigger question is why I answered you like yoda. Disqus behaving I see. Strong in the wine force you are. 😛

    You better comment! 🙂

  • Just Jack

I am sure you’re right Castello. I haven’t met her yet but I have spoken with her on the phone a dozen times or so, and she has always been exceptionally cool and generous. Even on those very rare occasions when I was being a butt-head.

  • Anonymous

Great Gary/Mott moment with the 85! I’m not a big licorice fan, but I will definitely try the primitivo.

  • Anonymous

    HAHA…Thats ok..I understood!
I will def. comment, watching now.. (I got sidetracked)
    🙂

  • Belugajones

CKC here and you’re totally right, I am def gonna pick up some of that Primitivo!!!

QOTD: I like to roll standard with strawberry Twizzlers. Can’t say I’ve ever had a licorice experience though.

  • Anonymous

    qotd; Never had one.
But had a Trebiano that had a licorice component to it ,guess I’ll try.

  • Anonymous

    GARY!!!!

QOTD: I like licorice in small doses..and cant say that I have a special licorice memory..and really dont have anything perverted to report about it. LOLOL

OH! I am getting involved with a vineyard in Oregon, and wondering if I can send you wine to try on the show…not sure if thats possible or how to go about it…will email you.

    Love you Gary!!
    Lookn forward to Sirius tomorrow!!
    XOXO

  • NeilMc

Well if I can’t tell my perverted licorice stories, no dice on answering the qotd. All seriousness aside, black is real licorice. The red twizzlers are just a waste of time.

  • Anonymous

I’ll just say my wife loves licorice, and leave it there

  • Totally dig this show. Loving the on-location shoots – just a heads up – ustream.tv has an app on the iPhone/Android we use to help our clients broadcast live, or record/post to catch those must-see moments. I think you could upload the .flv files, too…

  • SantaBarbara

I love black licorice. It’s definitely an acquired taste…I used to hate them, both black and red, when I was a kid.

  • hokie wino

I know I don’t qualify as a CKC anymore but I’m definitely going to pick up a bottle of the Traturri Primitivo.

QOTD: I don’t like black “real” licorice but I do love some twizzler’s pull n’ peels.

  • Anonymous

QOTD: Although I DID love the moment that I started to enjoy Good n’ Plenty (post childhood), as well as the day I first had Panda Licorice, I think it was the day that my brain connected Anise and Fennel flavors when finding them in wine… and realizing that they were in many ways the same flavor. Although I probably first picked up Licorice flavors and aromas in a Montepulciano, teh fennel note came through in a Grenache Blanc from Tablas Creek.

  • Phil M’Glassup

Good show but have to disagree with you about that primitivo. I found it to be a bit sweet, harshly acidic and slightly blah. Not bad for pizza but defintiely not a 90 pointer. The label, which in aold friend of mine designed, is easily the best part of the bottle.
And KMurph is charming by the way.

  • Sweet Reverend

QOTD: My favorite licorice experience was discovering Darrell Lea licorice on my honeymoon in Australia. Their old school black licorice is awesome but they also make some great fruit licorices. My wife and I brought some home to the states with us and were very excited to see we could buy it here as well.

Gary, you’ve got me excited about that Primitivo. I’m searching for some tonight!

  • Anonymous

I love salted liquorice (sorry, Canadian spelling) from Holland and the black liquorice cigars and pipes with the little red dingleberries on the end. Twizzlers are kinda lame, but OK in a pinch. I’m guessing that non-fruity white wines like the Rioja that you tasted would be best with black liquorice. I’ll check that out.

  • Pizza Vino Joe

My favorite licorice experience hasn’t happened yet. But I think it will be when Braylon Edwards drops his third pass of a game and Gary V. runs down and the field and rubs licorice on his hands to make them sticky.

  • Anonymous

OK Pitchman, where can I buy the shirt?

QOTD; There was a black licorice toffee, came in a rectangular box with about a dozen individually wrapped black rectangles. I think it was British. I was addicted to that stuff when I was a kid and I used to scrounge money like a fiend, then run off and buy it. Strange because it wasn’t a kids candy. They kept it up on the counter. I don’t see it around anymore, now you’ve got me jonesing for some. It’s not on the web either. Damn you!

Another gem of a show. When I saw the heading I cracked up.
