Punchy, funny, enjoyable episode…love it when GV crucifies a wine as he does here!

Blind tasting, can’t wait. Keep it up Gary. Doing this show and keeping up with all of us must be like running a marathon everyday…..wait, you’re A.D.D, like running a 10 K for you.

Thanks again. We love Wine Library, you have added much to our wine consumption.

So the first wine was like the polo you had on in the start of the week…? πŸ˜›

Super serious show this time, and great “disqust” for the last wine. Just tell it like it is!

The Mulderbosch has a fantastic label i must say…..

    Qotd1: No, sorry.
Qotd2: The most dissapointing wine experience was a bottle of Shiraz from Wolf Blass which was WAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY TOOOOOOO OAAAAAKKKKKYYYYYY for my palate. The Oak Monster is alive and kicking!

    Rock it tonite G! πŸ˜›

Even though the profile of these wines didn’t appeal to me, like seeing the brown bag tastings. Will try to listen tonight but the timing here in the Mountain States and the fact that I have to listen in the car may be restrictive.

  • ooh! nice timing…almost like live.
This will be interesting because I never look SA for SB…

  • Top 10 woo hoo. now off to watch the episode. Will be listening to the radio show tonight as well.

  • I would love to listen to the show but I have school from 6pm-11pm… Education is over-rated.

  • GV, congrats on the radio show! Don’t think I can catch the episode tonight, but hopefully can listen in in the future.

QOTD: 2004 Venus La Universal Montsant Venus – Got a bottle from Cindy a while back. Really looking forward to opening it given the pedigree of the winemakers, etc. Popped it for some family and got the big ‘ole corker. Corked bottle. First in a while too. Oh well, gonna have to dig up some more later on.

    Top Ten!

  • Good show.

QOTD: Haystack Needle 08 Rose. had high hopes because it came highly recommended… NOPE!

  • Brownsquirrel

Saw your picture this morning on XM, advertising the show. Looked good, you definitely had your look on!

  • how about that, now that I see the bottle…we had the Mulderbosch last year…pretty OK.
viva los vinos chilenos…Casablanca, San Antonio, Limari…

QOTD: night before last…university test lab wine from the trial vineyard 2008 La Crescent…killed the aromatics and left it quite bitter…too bad, that was a good fruit year.
Granted, they were doing a standardized ferment to dry…but we did a bone dry run with fruit from nearby, at very cool temp, same yeast, and it was a world of difference.

For all those folks who only have Sirius (or XM) in their vehicle, you don’t have to listen in your driveway or garage. Go to sirius.com, register and listen to Gary online.

QOTD — 2005 ChΓ’teau du Grand Carretey (a Sauternes) — wasn’t expecting a whole lot, but got even less.

Most bottles that I really love disappoint me the second/third time around. Expectations cannot usually be met.

  • whoops, already? OH, yes the radio show 4 am CET. I’m sleeping Gary, sorry. Bur have a nice show.
Hmm I dream of Jeannie, Motts generation, that’s rude πŸ˜€

    QOTD1: Nope
QOTD: Jacob’s Creek Chardonnay 2009, yesterday at a function, chilled but still just blaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, and full of grape pits bitterness, spit, spit, spit……. @?2yt439y&Β€

Hey! Hey! in before NY Pete!!!!!

    NYPaD

    Good show Bozo….

  • most dissapointing…SQN Midnight Oil. So over priced, so over hyped…a $30 bottle of Syrah from WA (2005 Bunnell Clifton HIll Syrah) blew it out the water during the night.

  • BTW, Gary/Mott, do you guys ever fight off camera? You are always nice to each other on camera, I am wondering if you ever have to film even when you are pissed at each other, like brothers or something…

Hey Gary I saw you on CNBC today but I had to watch it twice because I was blown away by the sexy hostess with that great accent and pretty as well and did not notice you were even there. I may have to tune into that show more often just to hear her voice

QOTD: Most disappointing wine this week was a bottle of Sean Minor 4 Bears Sauvignon Blanc (2009) (while we’re on that grape anyway). Love their Cab, Pinot stands up, but Sauvignon Blanc was a real disappointment to me. More grapefruit with a little pear and melon, too much like a chard than either the NZ SBs or French which I generally like. Similar disappointment with the Delhommeau Chard which people seem to like. My palate, I guess. Glad there are so many others to try.

  • hokie wino

Louis Jadot Beaujolais…then again I’ve never found one that I actually liked so I can’t say that I was really surprised…

  • waynooo daaa wino

qotd: Had a Rochioli – Russian River Valley – Pinot Noir 2005. That puppy cost
me 45 bones, but it tasted like 45 CENTS……… ;o(

  • QOTD – Can’t remember the bottle but it was a WA state chardonnay and I got dominated by the Butter Bandit.

Damn waynooooooooo, you should find the winemaker and demand your money back.

Decent show, your shirt was giving me acid flashbacks. I will have to try SASB sometime, dont believe I have ever tried it. I love it when you pan wines, I dont know why.

QOTD 1: don’t have it so no, any way someone could rebroadcast it so the rest of us can hear?

QOTD 2: Had a German Pinot (I know, why did I even bother) the other week that was HORRIBLE, had to dump it.

GV – Good to see some thunder…good luck tonight!

QOTD 1/2: I hope to listen tonight!
QOTD: I’ve been lucky, I haven’t really had a terrible wine in a while!

  • I’m on for tonight. Good to see they pimped you out on the home page of sirius.

Love the brown bag shows. Break a leg tonight!

The worst wine I’ve had in the past few weeks was a Cupcake SB. Yuck. I have tried the Cupcake red wines and they’ve been ok for a mid-week wine.

  • NY Pete

    hey hey

  • QOTD – it was a red from Austria and I don’t even remember the name. Not as bad a reaction as your today, but pretty bad…

Break a leg tonight. Going to try and catch at least some of it.

  • NY Pete

    and break a leg tonight.

Good call on the vinos chilenos! San Antonio and Limari are two of my favorite wine regions in Chile. Also keep an eye out for wines from the far south regions of Itata, Bio-Bio, and Malleco, and the far north regions of Choapa and Elqui. Saludos!

I don’t remember you ever scoring a wine that low (57) before! Even the horrible ones have been in the 60’s/ low 70’s (unless my memory is way off)!
Sirius doesn’t support my browsers and I have no desire to use Explorer, so I won’t be listening, but Good luck and have fun tonight!

  • Lvine

QOTD – Ravanal Merlot from Chile. Luckily it only cost me around $4 here in Chile!

  • waynooo daaa wino

    YOOOOOOOU GOOOOOOOO, Allan !!!!!!!!!!!! ;o)
