Punchy, funny, enjoyable episode…love it when GV crucifies a wine as he does here!

Right near the end of the video as Gary is about to unveil the last wine, the audio desynchs and skips and then falls back into sync a few seconds later. I don’t know if it’s just me or not.

    It wasn’t just you.

  • sethsethy

ive never had a sauvignon blanc from south africa but ill keep an eye out for one.

qotd: most disappointing wine ive had lately was actually a south african 2008 herding cats chenin blanc/chardonnay blend. it was weak! today im supposed to receive my first order from wine library. me is excited. and yes gary, ill be listening tonight ๐Ÿ™‚

  • jalapenonate

Fantastic episode, love the brown bag especially when its with something more unique like this. Good luck tonight!

QOTDish- will definitely be listening tonight!

QOTD: The most disappointing wine I opened in a long time was a wine called twilight from Tassel Ridge. It was super hyped up, although made locally they sourced the grapes from a vineyard in california, the tasting notes sounded awesome, the winemaker supposedly studied this specific technique in napa, and it was in the highest price range of their entire portfolio at around $20/bottle; I was super pumped for this wine to be awesome. Despite everything, it was thin, sour, unbalanced and one dimensional, it was so awkward on my palette that it was straight up undrinkable. Biggest disappointment in a while…

brown bags can really make it happening.
    Good luck tonight.

QOTD : Jacobยดs creek Syrah/ Cabernet 07. really Bad.

  • QOTD; Columbia Crest Reserve Chardonnay, Big Bad Oak Monster.

  • Anonymous

QOTD: Francis Coppola Pinot Noir 2008. Not BAD, just no thunder at all, and I expect more from this label and this price.

  • Yes, you are changing the wine world and now you are venturing into a entirely new realm. How will the Vayniacs not being able to “see” you which we have grown to love. It should be fun though my iTouch won’t download the sirius app but my iPhone will but it’s not compatible with my iBox so I have to slum it and use earphones.

Nice show, always love the Mulderbosch. Class SA SB.

QOTD 1: Of course, since I started with Ep 4 here I will be on the ground floor at Sirius.
QOTD 1a: When I have a disappointing wine I dump it down the drain and forget the label but I do rememeber having a 2001 Ken Wright the other day and it was deader than a door nail. Not good.

Cheers to you, your family and the Vayner Nation for tonight’s epic event.

P.S. Did the Jets sign Revis today?

    Enjoy tonight on Sirius/XM!!

QOTD: In wine class on Italy week recently, one of the Brunello’s was probably corked, slightly off. All of the other wines were great but one was off. I don’t think it was a bad wine just a bad bottle. We drank Piedmont and Tuscany, a Gavi, Barbera d’Alba, Barolo, Chianti Classico Riserva, Brunello, and a ‘super tuscan’. And a Brachetto d”acqui for a birthday toast.

  • QOTD 1: Probably not
QOTD 2: 2007 Fratta Pasini Valpolicella Classico

    Good Luck tonight

Is anyone having a problem with Sirius online radio? It won’t play at all. ๐Ÿ™

  • Anonymous

Radio has always been and should always be free. If CNBC (which you have to pay to watch on cable) can put your clip up online for free after it airs live, Sirius should man up and be willing to do the same.

QOTD: I had a $20 Primitivo from Italy that was predominantly steel wool on the nose/palate. While interesting in that aspect, it was nothing like what I am used to from zin and while I can’t say whether or not yet it’s typical of the style (my first Primitivo) I can’t say it’s off to a good start.

QOTD: 1985 Vernaccia di Oristano had it this weekend. It is from Sardinia and supposed to be very sherry like. Was a gift from a friend, while I was living in Italy. Never had this type of wine before. I thought it had a good nose (almonds) , but tasted like petrol. Well, maybe I just thought they were my friend.

  • The 2009 Mulderbosch Sauvignon Blanc 750ML is $16.98 @ http://winelibrary.com Not $10.98 as it says in this video http://twitpic.com/2ih7ig .. I was about to buy it. Is this a simple error or is the wine actually $10.98? Thanks in advance.

So I signed up for the 30 day trial and it ain’t working……. booo

  • Hey Gary

Good luck with the show tonight.

QOTD: Can’t remember the wine, but spend last weekend on a narrow boat with some friends we got through a pile of reds (all purchased at the local supermarket, all of similair value) and the only one that was disappointing – the Bordeaux.

    Cheers
    Andrew

    Good luck tonight bru!

  • Lady L’egance

    Same here Castello. ๐Ÿ™

SQOTD: Sorry man. I will not be.

QOTD: I had a Louise at a tasting last fall which I thought was great. I tried the same vintage/winery this summer and it was not good. I wonder if since I had a lot of experimental ones at the tasting that it elevated my perception of the Louise, or if it was a bad bottle this time, or if it just does not keep long at all.

  • Jrouss

QOTD: Most disappointing wine in the last 30 days was the Wine Club C 2005 Francois Villard Reflets St Joseph. The reason, I forgot I put the bottle in the back seat and when I opened up the door, the bottle rolled out and smashed on the driveway. That was pretty damn disappointing. Anyway it smelled good.

  • waynooo daaa wino

    Yo Castello, I’d Chew-Out those Rascals Big Time….. :o)

  • Wilwrk4pez

Good luck tonight, Gary. Most disappointed recently in the Jean-Max Rogers Sancerre. Paid $17 for a glass at an upscale restaurant in San Diego and found it practically undrinkable. UGH!

  • L’egance

Well guess I’ll be missing the show tonight seeing how Sirius’s media player doesn’t seem to work.

    Sorry GV…

  • Great wine selection! Let’s see if Waynooo has it in his wine cellar

    *Creeps in quietly*

Oh look, a bottle of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2005. Hmmm. Looks good, but Waynooo will probably want this so I’ll put it back.

    *GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR*

Oh boy….of all nights to wear Ode du Pork Chop. *RUNS TOWARDS THE TREES*

  • L’egance

Got it to work. Try searching for the Sirius media player on Google and download it to your desktop.

Yeah, you have tasted a wine I love and you liked it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Big fan of the Mulderbosch Sauvignon Blanc. It and Southern Right are two of my favorite SB’s from South Africa.

QOTD – Do not have Sirius in the house. Only in my wife’s Lincoln. Sorry, would love to hear you.

  • WineWoman

cantine volpetti frascati. Probably was expecting too much from a 9 dollar bottle of wine.

Good Luck, Gary. I’ll be listening.

The other QOTD – Aciano 1998 Gran Reserva Temperanillo. Whoa – not so good,

  • HugeneOR

QOTD: 2007 LaVelle Vineyards Viognier Vintage Select. It was basically flavorless…

Have fun tonight Gary. I’ll try to tune in next week.

  • Good feeling on the show… Just got in from Tulsa, Oklahoma (so I cannot listen…) about ten minutes ago.

QOTD 2: Summer’s Rose of Cabernet from Napa Valley. After so many wonderful French and Italian Rose wines, this one could not compete. Bummer in a bottle.
