Gotta call it like it is, this was one of my least favorite episodes of all time. By the time you spend a minute yapping at the start about the new format (we know, this is like the 3rd-4th of these you’ve done in a row & told us every time), a minute going spaz throwing out random numbers like you’re announcing the lottery, then two minutes reviewing the wine, that’s only a minute of info, which you claim is what you’re trying to get more of in the new format. It ain’t working. Why not double the length (I know you’re busier than ever now hence the likely reason for the format change, but 10 minutes/day? C’mon!) try twice as many wines, and dish out twice the info?!?

QOTD: Never been there, so I really can’t say, other than their wine, of course!

  • Hi Gary,
About the format, I think for this particular grape or wine 5 min of info is just right… Only because I have no idea what it is and never heard of it, so my attention span is short. However, a 5-min. episode on PN, chard, cab, zin, white burgundy, riesling or any other mainstream grape would leave me wanting more. As others have already stated: Mix it up, Gary. We love u in any format really.

    QOTD: Port.

  • I agree that Portuguese wines are so good, specially that they are not expensive and you buy truly high quality.

QOTD: My favorite thing about Portugal must be Lisbon (Lisboa), it’s a vibrant city.

  • QOTD: having a generally better language than Spain.

I keep trying to find Portuguese wines. Port is everywhere and I also had an Alantejo and a Vinho Verde. Any time I do find them I see 90 point ratings at $8-9 (excluding Port), which is amazing, so I don’t know what gives with the selection. Man … when’s the mead show? I’ve been waiting patiently (or not), here.
