  • Lot’s-o’Gary > Short Gary > No Gary. I like the info that he is providing in the shortened format but I don’t see a good reason why he couldn’t provide the same data in a longer format.

  • It’s holiday Pete. Probably won’t be one tomorrow either.

  • The format is informative but….it’s so straight forward that your personality doesn’t have a chance to shine through. Story…sticking to it.

PS….Shana Tova. A sweet and healthy new year to all my wine library friends.

  • Unbelievable! %&!$?%! So sorry, Randall. Well, there’s always AT&T.

  • Randall

    That’s kinda what i’m thinking…

  • Love the small format. I know that I’ve communicated this before, but I love the high education factor. Keep up the good work.

  • Gary, I am and am not a fan of the smaller format. It seems like you are reading off a prepared sheet, tasting the wines, scoring it and done. I appreciate this when I am in my local wine store on my BB and want a quick review on a wine I am thinking of getting that you have reviewed. On the other hand, 90% of my WLTV viewing is at home where I appreciate the longer format and believe it or not, I really like guests.

Thanks though for all the content you deliver!

I agree with previous comments… The short format is okay every so often but it’s so quick and straightforward that the show lacks pizazz and a certain ‘Vaynerchuk’ style.

  • I also like the guests! The thunder never fails when you have a good guest!

  • Anonymous

I like both the longer and shorter formats as long as the education factor is there. Love your work GV!

QOTD: don’t know too much about Portugal but Porto is thus far in my top 3 favorite European cities of all time and the Douro valley is probably the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. Great wines, friendly people, gorgeous scenery – what’s not to love?

  • Allan

When will you have Oz Clarke on your show?

  • Hey Gary

The short format is OK – the pros are that it is education focussed and lets you explore the wine, BUT honestly I’m not a fan. I’d much rather you stayed ‘education’ focussed but compared the usual three wines. Gives much more scope to explore and I don’t mind a longer show.

    QOTD: Macau!!!

    Cheers
    Andrew

Not a big fan of this format… Sounds a little bit like a memorized Wikipedia entry…
    QOTD: Cristiano Ronaldo… great eye-candy… πŸ™‚

    about norway-portugal?

Also not a fan of the short format. Gotta have more than one wine. Preferably 3-4. I do like the educational aspect, but it doesn’t seem very educational to me to pick one wine and take it as representative of a region, a varietal, or a style.

    missing the battle between wines.
QOTD: Surfing in Cascais and squid sandwiches in Setubal.

    Favorite thing about Portugal:

2005 Quinta Do Crasto Douro Reserva Old Vines (just amazing stuff)

  • Hey Gary, I guess I was not specific. I did not mean your successes in business but rather your celebrity status: the TV appearances, the book deals, the radio show etc. I would never doubt your hard work within the retail world and that was not my point.

Regardless, I am a huge fan of what you do and will continue to be a huge fan and I did not mean to convey otherwise. I will definitely continue to watch, listen and read what you do. But my favorite will always be WLTV. Just my $.02.

Super short. Thanks for the geeky white wine.
Hmm, liked the info but we need more wines please!
At least 2 if not more would be good.

QOTD: All the fabulous value-driven wines of course.

Gary! Doing a great job to maintain the quality and passion. Keep going! Only 85 b4 a REALLY big SHOW….
Not lovin’ the short format… How are you going to squeeze a guest(s) in?
Favorite Portuguese has to be the Azores! Beautiful place. Goin’ soon. Any Azorean wine shows?…

  • Favorite thing about Portugal is that my lovely wife is of Portuguese decent πŸ™‚

PS…loving the shorter show format. Under 10 minutes is a winner in my book, especially for a daily podcast.

qotd: the churches in Portugal are really beautiful. I love the way the use tile on the outside of buildings. not to mention vintage port!

  • Anonymous

I completely agree. Oporto is so unique and beautiful. And the valley is breathtaking. I found Portugal to be one of the most genuine and warm countries I have ever visited.

  • LurkerKing

I think Vaynerchuk has lost his mojo. First a whole week off. Now midget episodes?

  • Allan

    Whatever happend to Gary Vay-Ner-Chuk ? ? ? ?

  • Feeling cheated with the short episodes. Not feeling the love anymore . . . . .

  • Quincy is a village in the Loire, very close to Sancerre, it makes wines in a similar style, under the radar and excellent value for money!

  • Anonymous

Thanks for the info, I suppose it’s not heavily imported. Lots of SB grown there I assume?

  • .
Hi Gary!! Correction: AragonΓͺs (designation in the south of Portugal) or Tinta Roriz (designation in the north of Portugal) is know as Trempanilho (designation in Spain), not Touriga Nacional.

Favorite thing about Portugal: Beaches in Sagres and the gastronomy.

    Cheers

Not a fan. The show is so much more interesting when another wine is used in comparison. Sometimes tasting another wine helps you recognize how good the other wine actually is. I just watched an old episode where you had to go back to the first wine and scored it higher after tasting the second. It’s just way more interesting and more importantly fun. the show might be educational, but it’s the fun action packed showdowns that make the best shows.

If the show is going to be shortened, perhaps you could at least have 2 wines from the region/ country that you are reviewing.

Great show, why mess with success!

Hi GV, nice show, it’s nice also this tight format, but I like best the 4-wines blind.
Noticed a small error, Tinta Roriz (Portugal) is known as Tempranillo (Spain), not Touriga Nacional.

QOTD: Everything! The wines, food, places, the people…

  • NY Pete

hey oxera, have I told you lately to GFY? no? then GFY … πŸ™‚

  • NY Pete

    who?

  • I like the shorter episodes unless it’s a beer episode. I don’t know anything about Portugal except they are overrated in soccer.

  • Anonymous

It is a good format. Good information, a little more in depth never hurts. Will continue to advocate for good variety.

  • A dumb Rhein king

I think he might be the son of Sasha, the greatest online personality ever. People tend to forget Perry or Jerry, or whatever his name is because of the enormous shadow cast over him.

    Cool episode.
    Will look for this varietal

QOTD: I suppose my favorite thing about Portugal is that they are producing good wine.

I’ve seen that label, Quinta Do Cabriz. PA used to have a red and a white.

  • Anonymous

I think these are episodes are too short – having 3 or 4 wines of the same variety adds so much more to the show.

    QOTD – Vinho Verde
