Good show; first time I’ve seen GV kinda change his mind about a wine mid-way thru. He loves wine No3 at first, then cools down considerably. Just shows you, even the greats have doubts.

    Hey Hey Welcome back stranger

  • Great timing for a new episode. Just had a killer workout and tired as hell today. Glad I caught the new show! Great stuff!

  • Anonymous

Yay!! I hav’nt even watched the episode but wanted to say i missed you

  • Anonymous

Jets was amazing last weekend. WOW!

  • Initial Comment: Welcome back Gary! (I hope all is well heathwise with you and yours).

You *know* how much I love the brown bag episodes. Now to watch it and answer the QOTD later.

What’s that music in the background? Sounds like Phil Lynott singing ‘The Boys are Back in Town’. Seriously, turn up your speakers real load and you’ll hear it…

  • Wish I could find more Borossa and McClaren Vale Shiraz in the states! I’ll be looking for your appearance in MN!

  • Welcome back!

  • I wouldn’t mind testing out any of those pinots… Been getting into pinot lately, so it’s pretty exciting to see some reasonable pricing.

QOTD: Skins are looking TERRIBLE, so that sucks. Spent this past weekend in Red Mountain area, vineyards are looking good.

He waits for two Jets wins to come back.
    I’m in.

  • Fantastic show with surprising results. I’m on staff at a restaurant opening in a few weeks and we get to choose a few bottles on the list. Might try and get a NZ pinot on there.

Great show Gary, good to have you back! Man, you are reading my mind. Last night I was thinking, “man, a brown bag show would be cool, haven’t seen one in a while”. Then of all things I was online looking into NZ Pinots last night, came across the Oyster Bay, and considered buying it.

Lo and behold! A Trifecta!! Brown Bag? CHECK NZ Pinots? CHECK Oyster Bay?? HOLY BRINGING THE THUNDER BATMAN!! CHECKMATE!!!

    I’m picking some up today

  • Matt

Great to have you back on the show!!! Looking forward on Pinot Noir from NZ, i’ve been quite dissapointed with almost the 5-6 last bottles. QOTD: Amisfield 2005 Central Otago

  • QOTD: Missed WLTV, but happy that hockey’s back. Had a surprisingly good value Riesling over the weekend, the Villa Wolf 2008 from Pfalz. I haven’t had much NZ pinot, but remember liking Felton Road.

Welcome back. QOTD: Chillin’ with my family this summer lots of picnics with rose and sparkling wines. Our daughter is back in school and looking forward to the fall. Giants are still in the pennant race and the 49ers still stink. We watched the Jets win last night. I wish so much we had drafted Sanchez or Rodgers at QB. Alex Smith is not the future. Keeping positive with the Giants and family.

Hey Gary, having you back on WLTV has made my day. Plus I always love the brown bags. QOTD1: I have not had any NZ pinots that I can think of, but at these price points I will certainly expand my palate. QOTD2: I have been loving life with my wife and three kids. Add the fact that I have been enjoying some great Riojas and Tuscans. Life doesn’t get any better.

    Dude,
My boss is the most ridiculous Jets fan ever, I sent him your video today…he LOVED it.
    Nick

  • Good show after the bye week… Glad to see some QPR Pinots!

  • Anonymous

    Yo we’ve missed ya.
I passed my intro sommelier exam recently. Speaking of New Zeland, did you know they have the highest average price on wines of any country?

  • QOTD1: Felton Road QOTD: trying to drink some room into my cellar. I have literally run out of space so I am on a buying holiday.

Great brown bag show. (which are my favourites)

Glad your back and your family are well. Great game last night and looking forward to tonights game, will be the first time I’ll get to see the Bears this year (3-0 BABY?!?!).

You had me laughing my face off with your dip tangent… Up here people call it “chewing” not “dipping” (a dip is just the blob of tobacco in your lip), so you saying dipping dips sounds pretty funny. Great energy today, hope you taped a weeks worth of shows today so it carries over.

  • Oakmon’s BF

Welcome back Mott. It’s been even longer since we’ve seen you.
I’ve been vacationing in Costa Rica. We had an amazing time. Back home now, kids are back in school.

  • It is alive! Nice to have you and the Mottster back again.

QOTD: Graphic Designing and blogging like mad. Had a weekend filled with pumpkin ales and stouts from Southampton, Fire Island, Fisherman’s and Sam Adams and Oktoberfest from Blue Point and Spatan. There was a Bloody Mary thrown in there for good measure. And yelling at the screen because my Giants and Lions were aggravating my colon while Va. Tech. was my shining light.

  • Allan

THE GREATEST WINE SHOW ON PLANET EARTH!

Thxn for bringing back the thunder to our lives. Loved the intro. And Mott’s back, hallelujahhhhhhh!!!

QOTD: haven’t had many NZ Pinot’s but Sileni Estate from Hawke’s Bay was good and fairly priced.
Been busy lately getting a new job. It’s not official yet, so just between us here…and my son turned two on Sept 23. Got him the new Liverpool away shirt with his name on the back and the no. 7 (King Kenny, no one will wear it as you did). Congrats to The Boss (not you GV, the other one) who turned 61 – I believe – also that day…great timing by the misses on that one btw.
Oh, and had 1999 Chateauneuf-d-P from Guigal (just his regular, should have drunk it three years ago, but it was smooooth as silk…)
That’s about it…great to have you back 🙂

  • Allan

side QOTD: Amisfield is a very good premium pinot noir from central otago. I had it before I saw you try it on WLTV. I forget which vintage was out then. I went back for more.

PA has the Oyster Bay as a regularly stocked item. And my premium store has several Gunn Estate wines, pinot noir, chardonnay, and sauvignon blanc.

QOTD: been working at my PLCB store….tomorrow I am lucky that they are sending me to a wine education seminar. The topic is Sicily and Sardinia. I’m looking forward to the education and the tasting.

Rioja month for two months in the PA stores. Selected Rioja wines are discounted, sept 27-nov 28.

    Master Gary!

Most often my comments are ridiculous and absurd in nature. However, today I comment with much sincerity! While most citizens of the Nation of Vayner are loyal and kind in nature, many often lash out after a long absence or unwanted guest. Despite this, you return in good spirit to bring a thunder mighty enough to roar through the heavens and deafen the infidels’ mutinous ways! Many thanks are in order!

We’re here in minnesota – weather’s finally cooperating for shipping wine & receiving the wine we’ve ordered over the summer & those presale ones that are finally in! Disappointed in the Hall cab 06 we just got & drank the other night. Really enjoying brunello & priorat & rioja lately! Watched your pinot video – curious why you are coming to minnesota? Any place we can meet up & share some wine?

  • QOTD – Atarangi!

QOTD — haven’t had enough NZ PN to have a favorite!

The semester if already 1/3 over, which really shocked the students! (‘What were those books I had to read again?’)

Hey Gary, thanks for the WLTV fix. Glad to have you back. So when do you come to Minnesota? I’m here!
