    late today… nice surprise though.

moscato because of hip hop? really? I’m honestly not a moscato. At all. I’d rather have a diet sprite.

  • LurkerKing

QOTD: My old dime piece used to like Sangui di Guida. Its a sparkling red but I’m not sure if thats how its spelled.

  • NY Pete

    hey hey

  • REALLY!

  • And no love for the Raiders?! The hell? Hope we smash the New Jersey Jets in the playoffs GV! ;]

  • Anonymous

qotd: Not wine, but the only semi sweet bubbly I really care for is sparkling cider.

  • Anonymous

sweet just isn’t my bag G.

  • Laury Grimes

It’s Mangenius Gary, not Mangini!!! Bring on the Jets!!!

  • OttawaB

like Moscato ……… drink it often enough , especially in summer for that light, fresh, spritzy taste.

  • NY Pete

you’re awfully possessive about OUR football team.

  • Love Moscato d’Asti with vanilla ice cream, doughnuts, fruit topped pancakes and funny enough gummy bears!QOTD: Demi-sec sparkling Rose with buffalo wings and Sparkling Shiraz with French toast!Happy early b-day Gar!!

  • Anonymous

Wow! Do you ADHD much? Seriously though, great energy GV, you know we love it! I think this episode is a great testament to your scores being inflated after Jets wins 😉

QOTD: sweet: probably Riesling, bubbles: pumpkin ales and spiced winter brews

  • Anonymous

Not sure I have tried Moscato d’Asti, usually not liking sweet wines. Will try some with maybe a crab and greens salad this weekend.

QOTD: Tawny ports as things get cold, goes good with chocolate.

  • Baller Status wine here! Ya dig.

  • Moscato is definitely blowing up in Australia… Perfect combination of value, intense flavours, sweetness, low alcohol and acid balance make it a no-brainer in spring/summer.

Top Australian producers include Wirra Wirra, Innocent Bystander and Two Hands.

Another great episode Gary, keep up the great work!

  • NY Pete

my first love … from germany … a riesling auslese

It’s good to see you so excited on Monday. I like Cava and Moscato for sparkling and port for sweet and warm during the winter.

  • Lacchut

How do you have a football/wine show without Chris The Cop? The world is just not right!!!!

  • Dear Jets Defense,

    Meet Peyton Hillis.

    Browns 27, Jets 17

  • You were flying today/tonight (whenever it was filmed). I love Moscato d’ Asti but I have long wanted to try the Spumante d’ Asti.

QOTD: I will begin drinking a lot of hearty Italian wines come cold weather.

  • QOTD: I have had a lot of Moscato d’Asti and love it so I’d have to pick that as a favorite.

  • Matt from Canada

I’m a lurker from Canada. I loved this episode. Never had a muscato d’asti before, I confess, but I’m planning on making this the next wine I buy this week. Thanks GV.

  • Pretty jazzzzzed for a Monday!! Like the short tight format!

QOTD: Don’t like sweet & bubbles…Colle Dei Venti Moscato D’Asti was the last one I had, but too sweet for me. Weather changed I drink bigger reds-GSM!

I didn’t watch yet. I saw the Bug Juice on the shelves during my first week working at Total Wine & More. I kind of steered clear and recommended others. I’m curious to see the WLTV review.

  • Moscato Di Asti makes me SOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY. Love seeing you rock a show on it.
    😉

  • *scratches head* it’s sparkling?

  • Holy Sparkling Thunder Batman! – Anything with bubbles will have a chance in my glass. 🙂

  • Adam C

I’ll admit, I have never had one. I will be having one soon though. I dont drink a lot of sparkling wine, but have always liked Cava. There are some winemakers here in Michigan who produce some pretty bubbles. Thought the Lions had win #3 this week! Congrats Gary.

  • WineWoman

QOTD:Gianni Dogliani and Ellio perrone Sourgal, though that Bug Juice sounds like I would like that the most out of all 3. At least the last 2. Will have to pick some up on my next visit.
Are you putting together a secret pack for Thanksgiving??

  • pbarr

GV, I’ve been watching for a little over two years now and I think you are absolutely awesome! What a great short show about a wine category I’ve never heard of. Thanks for all the entertainment and wine knowledge!!!

  • norcalking

I had this bubbly at a wedding reception a while back, very sweet, but I can’t even remember the maker. Needs more research.

QOTD; Recently I got lit up by Argyle Brut. Very nice all around.

Carson and McMahon, Letterman and Schafer, Ferguson and Peterson, Vaynerchuk and Mott!

  • Gary,
Shame on your Jets for beating my Lions!!! I must admit that props are in order to Revis Island for shutting down Megatron. Man, it pains me to admit that!

Oh, yeah….the Moscato talk was excellent as well. 🙂

  • Anonymous

Not much on the Muscato scene Homey but I’ll have to pick some up tomorrow when I go get my Robert Craig Affinty…yummy!!!

QOTD: I like my Tattingers Rose..

  • luvgrapesqueezings

Congrats for doing the show for five years!!!! Although I like all kinds of dessert wines and sparklers, I will likely drink vintage or lbv port, sauternes or blanquet de Limeaux.

  • Anonymous

Early congrats on your 35th. Thought that I better get it in early because, even though I’ll be here Friday you probably won’tbe ;-).

QOTD: Probably Muscat Cannelli but I loved that Rivesaltes you reviewed a couple of year’s ago.

  • Pizza Vino Joe

Sorry, but the Browns are going to ruin your birthday.

QOTD: I like the Schramsberg Blanc De Noir for bubbles. And though I try not to schill on here too much, Frost Bitten Ice Riesling really is my favorite sweet wine these days.

  • Anonymous

wow gary, I rarely see you this pumped up, and that’s really saying something. quick question for you, should I take of a point or two off of your wine scores because you’re in such a good mood?

QOTD – I love the sparkles but I don’t drink enough to know what brands I like. I like acidic fruity sparkling wines, hate anything that tastes like I’m eating carbonated bread.

  • WineLou

Love Moscato. Also goes well as a dessert or after dinner wine, particularly after a big meal with a lot of big wines, it’s a refreshing palate cleanser when another big wine might be too much. Completely different from Prosecco, Spumante or Cava (I haven’t found one of them I like, although there must be some good ones out there). If you want to drink Champagne quality sparklers, try Franciacorta, a number of which are outstanding, as are a few of the Trentino sparklers (believe it or not, Cavit — that purveyor of mass-market, floor wax caliber Pinot Grigio — makes a reserve, vintage sparkler that has been rated Tre Bichierri in each of the last six editions of Gambero Rosso). Another Piedmont white that is terrific is Timorasso. Floral — think Gruner or Torrontes — while the Piemontese are exporting Arneis and Gavi, they’re sipping Timorasso. GV: how about a Franciacorta or Timorasso tasting?

  • Jlsyfor

Gary, great episode. You were totally fired up. I am going to have to give a shout out to Brachetto with particular focus on the this wine from the producer Beppe Marino. Everyone should check out this wine!

  • John__J

Hey GARY I JUST WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU. As we’re coming to your 1000th episode I just want to express how much your show means to me and I’m sure all of us. You’re constantly thanking us, and keeping the show new, and exciting, and showing us different things, and RESPONDING TO OUR FEEDBACK! (NO ONE DOES THAT ANYMORE), and encouraging everyone to try new things, and keeping things interestind and providing us with free giveaways etc.. Wanted to let you know that it means a lot. You really have changed the wine world, and you’ve created and brought together community of people who NEVER would have met each other and get to share their passion and find out about new things, it’s been a real pleasure to watch you’re show and interact with everyone else who watches it. Not to mention you, Mott, Ian, Kristen, Eric, Sascha-etc.

  • robbiec

yeah, Moscato is OK. I used to purchase wine for a nationwide retailer and I remember some of the sales staff saying that they were having some famous hip hop stars buying Sirocco Moscato. That was in 2006 and it was about $15 a bottle. Had a beautiful label, but I never got around to trying it…too many samples to try.

  • Anonymous

QOTD: Franciacorta!! I think this bubbly needs some rep on this show.

Does anyone know what’s going on with Thanksgiving pack????

  • QOTD: Vin Santo and biscotti is a classic combination during the holidays. Just wish I could go back to Italy to truly experience it.

QOTD to GaryVee: What is your favorite birthday meal and drink?

  • Anonymous

QOTD — had a few M di Asti, and they were okay, but haven’t had one I enjoyed as much as you liked these! They are fun indeed. But spumante is sort of my ‘comfort food’ of wines!

  • NOVEMBER 14th My son turns 3. What where you like at age 3? He’s a complete madman! I think you should do a show with Mott as the guest…could be mor popular than the shows with your dad even.

  • Anonymous

Love the excitement you brought to this show. Very good and lots of “THUNDER”. Way to bring it, always love when you are having fun and you sure showed it in this episode.

QOTD: I have been liking the Chandon Blanc De Noirs for bubbles and will also go the Riesling route, anything from the Mosel region of Germany. Have never had Moscato, but I think I would like to try the Bug Juice of the three.

  • John__J

qotd: for Sweet-Hungarian Tokaji no question. It has the acidity to balance the sugar and a q.p.r. that can’t be beat. For sparkling, I’ve been going mostly non French and U.S. outside of Cremant de Jura. Lambrusco, Cava’s, Brachetto’s, and yes even the Moscato d’Asti’s.

  • John _ J this means the world to me!
