line of the day – ‘Kinda smells like the back of a restaurant’

Gary was on point as usual with the blind tastings but Mott…what on earth are you talking about. you didn’t like ‘It’s a wonderful life’. That’s one of the best films ever made…and in fact my second favourite film of all time. Watch it again, please, with no distractions, and tell me you didn’t like it.

    “Gary owe’s us something?”

Yes. He owes his viewers a *fucking lot*, actually. Like it or not, this is simple economics kiddo. Gary started supplying a quality product, and thereby generated demand. He was then able to parlay that demand into increased retail business, a six-figure book deal, and a new radio show. That’s not free. That’s payment in traffic; we don’t just enable Gary’s business strategy, the one he writes about in those books; we *are* his business strategy. And that’s great! And we’re all happy he’s been so successful, because he seems like a great guy and he produces quality content! But if the content dries up so will the audience, and so will the revenue.

And, so — and this is the part of that equation you’re quite confused about — our job as fans of his isn’t to sit around jockeying for choice position to kiss his ass, telling him things are as good as ever when the reality is that the quality of the show has clearly, clearly taken a dive in recent months. It’s to keep him honest.

If you are worried do not be, I am sure most of us (even the listless, emaciated from no WLTV) viewers will watch when there is new thunder to feast upon.

Have a great time gv, hopefully it’s somewhere in the southern hemisphere. In the mean time I’ll be nommin’ on this Xinomavro with some braised lamb shoulders.

  • Anonymous

Agreed. Maybe Paul Hogan (one of the original Australian badasses) could do a few shows, although he might have problems hardening the fuck up these days.

Apparently there were several indications (on other forums) that GV would be absent. Also there has been a little bit of a transportation problem back east as of late (several feet of snow causing the store to shut down). Granted this does not mean he couldn?t upload a show from his house, but it does hinder his efforts a little. I agree with your sentiment about keeping him honest, but you seem to be doing a good job at that, so I am going to continue kissing his ass if you don?t mind. I am just as excited to see the next show as most other Vayniacs, but this is getting a little absurd (both the hiatus and the comments in this particular forum). Obla-de obla-da… you know the rest.

lol. Gary owe’s you payment for his success? Because he’s worked hard and built a reputation he has to back pay your boredom with entertainment? I don’t think he took a loan on success and is repaying it by drinking wine on the internet ‘kiddo’.

Whatever skewed sense of entitlement has polluted your mind is amazing.

I find this conversation hilariously entertaining. Can you please tell me who I need to pay? Or do you pay me? I’ll just owe you, i guess.

Yeah, this is almost better than watching episodes. Please we must keep this dialogue going, what other inflammatory things can I say to keep this beach ball bouncing above the mosh pit!!?????

    beer is better than wine

Just so I am clear, without all of us Vayniacs Gary would be sitting outside the Jets stadium watching the game on an old portable TV with a box of Franzia freezing his ass off while burning trash in an old oil drum to keep himself alive? I think you severely underestimate his ability. I agree (and have agreed with you before) on several of your points regarding his boost from his WLTV followers and the fact that he should be more transparent about his plans for the show in the past and following weeks. However, I do not think you are giving him enough credit. If you are the voice of reason, and therefore aim to keep Gary and all the brownnosed Vayniacs out there you might want to tone it down a little.

awww shit, I can hear the stampeding hoards now…

  • @cellarrat5 and @mattgmann —> Of course beer is. πŸ˜‰

  • Randall

That’s reasonable. I, too, have agreed with her and also with you, cr5. I think that maybe not enough credit is being given. Life is a give and take… sometimes we give, sometimes we take. It should all work out eventually. So if we All mellow out a bit, life will be a better ride…

I couldn?t even get past the two and a half minute mark. Gary has more charisma in his spit helmet by the end of the day, but they have done a few episodes perhaps SOMEONE is watching.

It’s surprising to think that anyone would complain at all about Gary’s not having a new episode yet unless they’ve already watched EVERY SINGLE back episode he’s done.

I think it’s a shame that he has to keep interrupting his vacation with his family to let everyone know he’s sorry and that he’ll be back when there’s no need for him to apologize.
