EP 963 Blind Tasting of Southern French White Wines

Gary Vaynerchuk recently asked for show suggestions on the WLTV forums and ran with Weston’s idea to taste more Southern French whites. One of Jimkay’s suggestions come through as well! Gary decided to make it more interesting and taste blind!

    Great idea for a show and a nice show it was! Love those Rhone whites. I am especially partial to Viognier, but the Southern whites are quite excellent as well and the blends are tremendous.

    In case it hasn’t been mentioned yet… Per some comments GV/Mott made on the WLTV Forums, it will likely be next Monday before a new episode is posted. Episodes for last week/this week were supposed to be taped a week ago Monday, but then the East Coast snow storm hit so the store was closed; GV is currently on vaycay for a week & a half & said there would be more episodes taped the 2nd week of Jan. I wish it were earlier too 🙁

    Wow just counted and saw there were only 7 episodes for this month. I’m guessing that’s the least since the show started. I’m looking forward to the next episode.

    G, I’m not going to throw down any criticisms about show quantity.

    Cheer up, your Jets made the playoffs despite a lackluster finish.

    I just watched Ohio State get a sniff of big ten redemption against Arkansas. Plus OSU basketball is on a tear. You should jump on the bandwagon!

    Looking forward to a new year of WLTV and mad thunder.

    Just finished off a fantastic CdR by J.L. Chave. And drinking some victory bubbles….a Cremant D’Alsace I believe.

    How about some optimism from the Vayner-Nation! I know we hold G to a high standard because of the great job he does. But what is with the whining and criticism? Do you all have cabin fever already? Is it not enough that he’s thrown down 963 show more than any of us?

    The negativity in this joint is ridiculous.

    Why are we burning G because he isn’t entertaining us enough? It’s a free show in which there is generally a high education and general thunder quotient. I think we should enjoy what G gives us, and concentrate on sharing our own knowledge when G is busy.

    This rant is far from over. Attitude checks are needed. You can feel happy without G. Life is just a little better with a thunder injection.

    It?s just me, or every other Vayniac is logging in the site everyday to see if there is a new show?

    Hope GV is having a good time, we are not. GV could have left a replacement (Mott, Sasha, WL incredible Staff?) doing the shows! I would not bring the same Thunder, but would be way better than nothing?

    Hmm.

    No. It’s not at all unreasonable to be annoyed with Gary; he put out a total of eight shows last month mostly without any explanation of the lapses (though of course I’ll happily give him the last week of the month as a break) and now we’re already nearly a week into the new year and have yet to hear a peep from him.

    The bottom line? Gary is SUCKING at communication here. Time after time he’s gone a week or so without putting out a new show, then he comes back and says he understands why people are frustrated but the show isn’t going anywhere. And then he disappears again.

    Does anyone still honestly believe that we’re going to be getting fifteen to twenty minute episodes four or five days a week, like we used to? I just don’t think it’s feasible; clearly Gary has taken on a significantly increased workload of late, and the show is suffering for it. And that’s his prerogative. But I think at the very least he owes us some candor and explanation. He doesn’t need you apologizing or making excuses for him. He just needs to be honest.
