EP 963 Blind Tasting of Southern French White Wines

Gary Vaynerchuk recently asked for show suggestions on the WLTV forums and ran with Weston’s idea to taste more Southern French whites. One of Jimkay’s suggestions come through as well! Gary decided to make it more interesting and taste blind!

    QOTD: JUST finished watching, “It’s A Wonderful Life.” I don’t think it’s boring at all. It’s a wonderful movie. BUT, my very favorite Christmas movie is, “Scrooged”, with Bill Murray. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!

    Stocked up on a few Chateauneuf Du Pape (all reds) this month. Has been a while.
    Been getting into the Alsace whites. First time for them.
    Try to watch all the Scrooge movies for the holidays. Favorite is George C Scott, but I do enjoy them all including Mr. Magoo and the Muppets.

    St. Cosme did it again! Just had the CdR rouge, stand up really well, in a room w/ tons of Cali Cabs, and several other sundry wines, at a 30-wine throwdown. And their st. James basket press, again, is bursting with fresh, gulpable fruit and milky chocolatey goodness.

    I’m not really thinking of the holiday movie thing that much… always thought it was a little contrived. But for you to diss “It’s a Wonderful Life” ?!!! Well that’s just a pure, generational disconnect. No, I’m not nearly that age,and I never even saw it ’till the 90’s, but it
    s probably one of the greatest, classic examples of Americana storytelling, film making, direction, acting, etc. I’m sure it’s in AFI’s, and every significant source’s top picks… Then you mention Fred claus, and Elf. !!! You are awesome. And do not quit your day job, GV! Or WLTV. Ever. We love you! Happy Holidays!
    Maybe Scrooge – from 1968, or whatever year that was…

    All-time favorite Xmax/New Years movie has to be “The Thin Man”; starring William Powell andMyrna Loy (and their dog, Asta). Classic drinker’s movie and super adapted screenplay from the last of the great Dashell Hammett novels.

    A real treat to watch right before going out to that New Year’s eve party and get into the spirit(s).
