  • Thanks for the tips! I’ve added them to my list.

Can’t even imagine paying $800 for a bottle of wine…let alone NOT liking it. That would hurt!!!

You’re getting too popular GV. Everytime I go to try to buy one of your QPRs, it’s already sold out. But I will keep trying. ;-D

    Merry Xmas Vayniacs!!

Just had IT at my family’s X-mas dinner, and it worked perfectly! Gotta recommend 2006 Amarone Le Ragose, really just perfect balance, powerful tannins, soft juicy fruit, an incredibly clarity of focus on the fruit. Seems like it’s at the top of it’s game now, but please keep it 2-3 years for full enjoyment (or decant it 3-4 hours). And if you wanna cellar this, please do, give it 8-12 years in the cellar and it will be even more complex on the nose and whole I would assume. 😉

And it will please your mouth & senses. Cheers!!! :OP

    Merry Xmas GV!

To You, your friends and family I wish all the best. May you continue to SHINE ON, for all of us wine-wannabees! (sorry for the bad spelling).

I hope YOU bring the thunder to some of the things you’ve missed so far in the wine world…. you know what….
    And
    Who
Cares…. Madeira, Rheingau Reisling, Sherry,.. etc etc….

Give my best to your Awesome Dad Sasha and the lot (that means WLTV staff) and more. Just bring IT! Keep on Crushing It”!!!! big GV 🙂

  • ALLAN

If there was ever one to give ones stamp-of-approval to, it must be you, indeed! You seem to bring the THUNDER to every comment section you shine your light on. And I appreciate it. ;P Merry X and New Y.

  • Happy Holidays to you Gary and all the Vayniacs!

Just finished watching some football where the Colts won and the Jet and Giants lost though Jets clinched playoff berth. Congrats

Nice show, not overwhelmed by southern French whites since they are kinda hit or miss but will seek out the Cosme for sure.

    QOTD: #1 Polar Express #2 It’s a Wonderful Life

    Cheers and Happy New Year!

    P.S. GO COLTS!!!

  • Makes me wish I had a clue about wines.

What you do for this show and for the VAYNERNATION means the world to us. You have made me love wine even that much more. I truely look forward to this show everyday and the VAYNIACS with their responses. Look forward to a great 2011!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

  • Will have to check out some more Southern French whites…been mostly drinking Southern French reds. Great QPR on that Saint Cosme.

QOTD: I’m Jewish, but Scrooged and National Lampoon Christmas Vacation always make me giggle when I see them on.

  • LurkerKing

    same to you!

  • My favorite holiday movie is Home Alone 1 because that is what I grew up with. I am Jewish and live in Israel and on Christmas Day I was walking around a park with families and kids running around, picnicing and flying kites. They had no idea it was a holiday for almost everyone else in the World – it was a regular Shabbat day (and 75 degrees!). Liked the show on Southern French wines…keep’em coming!

PISSED that the Jets/Bears game wasn’t aired here in California!!! WTF CBS????!!!! Instead CBS aired an infomerical for the Shark vacuum. Again, WTF CBS???!!!! Anyway, because the wife is a red-only drinker I don’t get the opportunity to try many whites… but between you and my ‘ol Berkeley buddy Kermit Lynch I’m thinking of making space in the cellar for some closet drinking.

QOTD: It’s A Wonderful Life and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

  • Thanks Gary, it means a lot for us your commitment…I would really like to follow your steps being able to live with all the things you love…

  • DA BEARS!!!!! Gary, Good thing you didn’t take me up on my bet, But I’m sure you were smart enough to NOT bet against the BEAR!!! It was a FUN game to watch.

  • Great!!

  • Ok… I really like the blind tasting! Fun to watch. Shout out to Mott the unsung hero of WLTV. Great camera work! I have always liked Cotes Du Rhone.
    QOTD: it’s a wonderful life.

  • lower hudson valley of NY is having some success with vinifera, but north of that and it’s cold hardy hybrids. A friend west of Plattsburgh has some Cab Franc that manages to survive but not well…the hybrids are thriving though, and 2010 was a great ripening year. I just put a test red blend together with wine I made from this past harvest…Leon Millot and St. Croix from the cote d’ouest of Lake Champlain, and Marquette from the cote d’est. Much better than expected and can’t wait to slip it to some folks on New Years.
    Cheers.

  • QOTD: It’s a wonderful life – while baking and blind tasting sparkling wine!

You have changed the wine world for so many of us already. I have conversations about your show in our humble little tasting room all the time, people who don’t even watch the show know about it and what it has done from various other forms of media. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to Liz, Misha, Sasha and all the rest of your family and all the Vayniacs out there! And happy holidays and good wishes to all who do not celebrate our Americanized holidays!!

Great show! Love the brown bags, and the Christmas/Holiday cheer! Going to have to try and find that wine you flipped your lid over.

QOTD: A Christmas Carol (with Patrick Stewart), And Home Alone is always a classic from my childhood. I classify myself as New Old School in many categories of popular media, etiquette and other social institutions.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL VAYNIACS OUT THERE! ESPECIALLY MANY OF THE PEOPLE WHO I HAVE HAD CHOICE WORDS WITH (BOTH POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE) OVER THE LAST YEAR OR SO!!!!! CHEERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • First time to watch and found it very interesting!! Great job!

Favorite Movie……I too like Frosty because of the animation but I also like It’s a Wonderful Life.

  • Thanks Cellarrat you too. BTW. I hear you may know someone that makes wine. 😉 Have a link perhaps? 😛

  • Vermont! Of course! Sorry about that. 😀

I love White Rhone and especially white Chateauneuf.
    I think its highly underrated.

    QOTD. No movies during hollidays.

  • A little crow told me about it. I am sure I am going to like what I see. 😀

There are clouds in the sky but where is the thunder?

  • Since I’m watching this late, pity about the Jets, but if it makes you feel better, Matt Forte helped win me a playoff game in my fantasy league. Good stuff, by the way.

QOTD: If the Fellowship of the Ring doesn’t count — and it should — then the 2006 Rose Bowl (nothing says holidays like bowl games). If NEITHER of those count, probably Scrooged with Bill Murray.

  • It was dampened by some Detroit lightning. 😉

    Go Bears!!!!!

  • Unfortunately, it’s ALWAYS sold out before Gary can say “Seek this out.”
