  • Favorite holiday movie? Christmas Vacation, natch! I can pretty much quote the whole movie from memory. And yes, that’s slightly pathetic.

Where in the world is Gary Vaynerchuk??? 🙂

I hope you?re fine GV, and had a tremendous Christmas with your family!
Mott too! Too much snow up there!!!

God bless you, Mott, the families and the VaynerNation in 2011.

    Mauricio from Brazil.

  • It happens with most sports. The introductions during Chicago Bulls games the announcer introduces “your” Chicago Bulls.

Now that I think of it they do that at Giants (baseball) games and most other sports games I have been to. I guess I just read it a lot on this site and assume it’s mainly football fans that say it.

    Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis – How’s that for a word?

I also think that individuals that attend games and contribute to the fiscal responsibilities
of said team by purchasing a ticket somehow feel that they are in someway their teams. :O

My personal favorite is a Christmas Story. Although i don’t think it needs to be play 24 hrs straight like tbs does lol.

  • ALLAN

    YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW !!!

    :oP

Good point, I guess in a way the teams do belong to the city and the inhabitants that attend the games.

    That is one hell-of-a word!

  • any disease of the lungs is hell

  • At this rate my prediction still stands good 🙂

  • BTW Chris Mott 2011 is your year, tell that to the GVdude.

Really you talk to laud in the beginning of the videos, but it is not bad.
Have a great 2011 as well for all your fans.

Love the blind tasting. My movie is Elf, A christmas Story and It’s A Wonderful Life. and guess what it is a wonderful life thanks Gary.

  • hahaha naw… just by itself. The music of Harold Arlen is enough for me. I have an old soul.

How was your Christmas dude (particularly the wine and music)?

My favorite holiday movie is neither an old-tried-and-true TV marathon classic or a more recent attempt to sneak into the pantheon (love Bill Murray, laughed at ‘Scrooged’ once but does it really need to be broadcast All Day?). It’s Whit Stillman’s ‘Metropolitan’ – sweet but not saccharine, hopeful but pessimistic, smart, pretentious even without apology. It’s kind of perfect and broke the Oscar indie embargo by scoring a Best Screenplay nomination way back in 1989. In the ‘classic’ category – Meet me in St. Louis trumps them all.

GREAT suggestion from the forums for a blind episode!! I am a huge fan of these blends for value (outside of Chat. du Pape) and unique expression of place, either with or without food.

QOTD: I was aaaaalll ready to type my film choice when MOTT AND GV dissed it!!
“It’s a Wonderful Life” is such a classic! It is a GREAT tale of strife and overcoming obstacles, it promotes the value of family and addresses much of the same hard economic issues that we are dealing with today. YES it is a longer film, and requires sitting down for over two hours, BUT that is only slow-paced in comparison to the current film model that is tailored to our technology-driven-short-attention-span culture, where few movies last longer than 90 minutes. SO, get a BIG bowl of popcorn and your favorite beverage, sit down on the couch with a loved one, and block out the next 2+ hours to take in and appreciate this great film!

  • and I guess if one look how this where articulated , say in 1960 th it would have been the our team. Late 70th and early 80th brought out the “my” in people. Leaders for teams, political parties and even corporate management used to say “we think, our thoughts” , started to say I think , my thoughts. Naturally all started to say “It’s my team, damn it my team will win!, My team will beat your team”

  • ALLAN

Probably when I went to Duckhorn and told them I worked in the industry. I have posted this experience before so I will not bore everyone that actually reads the comments with details, but there were at least 35 empty glasses on the table when we were ready to leave (after about an hour and a half).

I’m late on this one, but can’t believe Mott and Gary not impressed with It’s a Wonderful Life. What? It should be required viewing from start to finish (every year)! Yes, it’s my favorite Christmas movie along with “A Christmas Story” (you’ll shoot your eye out, kid!) Ha!
    Cheers.

happy, happy new year yo all you Vayniacs, everybody… you have all made my 2010 much more than Mr Vaynerchuk ever could; and he would agree. Every person that logs on and puts in their contribution makes many people’s day, including my own. Reading your comments and discussions is a daily pleasure and reminder that there is nothing better than community. Again, thank you.
