90/100

Lines of the day – ‘Sardine juice meets raspberry juice’ and ‘I’m a huge fan of red radish – Lizzie gets mad because I eat ’em then burp a little and it smells terrible.’

Like the wines, GV gets a bit funky before the Jets big game.

Anyone who watches the “Gary Vay-ner-chuk Show” can certainly recognize “self-congratulatory opinions.” I humbly apologize & hereby plead “guilty” to indulging in “info-packed ramblings.” I sentence myself to one week in lukerville. BTW, you DO know it’s possible to scroll past that shit, right?

GO BEARS! GO STEELERS! πŸ˜‰ Have a GREAT football Sunday! πŸ˜‰

  • Randall

    πŸ™‚
Don’t banish yourself to the barren wasteland of Lurkerville. The good advice and solid recommendations you gave to someone in the Barbera ep should easily cancel out these ramblings and commute your sentence… :D!!
    Cheers!

  • Ouch… it doesn’t get better than “This must be the place (naive melody)” by the Talking Heads. I almost posted another youtube link but refrained from fear of being branded “the youtube kid.” I also think Bryne is one artist I would be in a hurry to meet, he seems super clever. I do not pigeonhole myself when it comes to rock… but I do revisit frequently.

Gary…BIG ASS GLASS…BLIND TASTING…NICE TIGHT SHOWS!!!! Love it all!!! I liked this week much more than some of the more recent weeks because I very rarely like the shows with the guests. I want those expand the palate shows with nothing but you and the wine! So QOTD: Tight and short (10 to 15 minutes with 1 to 3 wines) work best for me! Love the high info/minute ratio!

  • And this is why your awesome. πŸ˜€

  • Fabulous profile pic… πŸ˜€

  • I wish you could join us on Jan 30th for Vayniak get-together, MelbaLI !

Great show Gary.. and keep it tight. It’s interesting for me, to hear your opinion on the wine.
Ok with guest once in a while, but also nice to have focos on the wine and the tasting.. would love if you could do more Burgundy, Barolo, Brunelleo, Chianti … thanks

  • Anonymous

Definitely like the tight shows since we are all busy.

Suggestion in general and especially with the Brunello- open the wines earlier and give them a few hours to breathe. Drinking a 5-6 year-old Brunello without giving it some time to open up just won’t work.

    Thanks!!

Sadly…..it’s not looking good GV. PITT is playing really good.

I know Gary, but at the very least they kept those stinkin pats outta the Super Bowl

sorry gary. I had hope there at the end

Dude, sorry man…the Steelers stole the game. Time to watch HOCKEY!!!

  • Well it’s over. I feel terrible for GV and all the Jet’s fans. I know how tough it is statistically to get there, and how much emotion they have invested into the season, so an opportunity that doesn’t pan out can be tough to take. It does allow me to rejoin the family however. The football stuff was just a little too distracting for me so I had to take an extended breather. I’m not one of these blowhards who rags on GV for the football stuff. Gary is just giving us his DNA and I think he should put it out there and not hide it. It is his show after all. The problem is it just doesn’t fit my DNA, so for the same reasons I had to bow out until the season was over. Glad to be back though.

  • Oh. While I am at it. I just watched this recent interview with a Master of Wine fellow who gives a good nod to Gary. Anybody who is interested can find it at:

the Gary reference is at the end.

Though you probably knew this already, he’s the guest on WLTV Episode #558.

  • Randall

Jack! You are not the only one who’s glad that you’re back! While I was offline for a while I tried to get a certain girl from LI, NY to give you my email addy through this forum. Sadly, she is more of a friend than a secretary… πŸ™‚
I hope you’ve been well and hope to hear from you soon…

  • Hmm I somehow missed that. Thanks for the heads up Madange. I will watch it later tonight. I thought he looked a little bit familiar, but I chalked it up to the many years of neuron destroying activities I engaged in.

  • Glad to be back. I wish she would have given it to you. Now that we are connected in the other place you will know how to reach me. Please feel free to contact me anytime at all for any reason or none at all.

  • Did I say engaged past tense? That may have been a slight clerical oversight.

Very sorry about the loss to the Steelers.
I used to enjoy ( to sell , and to occasionally drink) the young, fruit driven Brusco dei Barbi, when I was in distribution, early-mid ’90’s.
as for the Clos les Lunelles, when I had the ’04 (discounted, as a ‘hard sell’ year!), I noted the hand of Mssr. Rolland, and it was evident. good mineral quality, and as could be expected in such a year, fruit skewed a bit to the red profile, just as you encounter here. At the price (under 30) I took it for what it’s worth, literally, and was glad to spill it during a decent, but not special dinner, among family, who are not even examining the wine. by the production criterion, but not by performance, it was good as, or better than what is drank on a ‘daily’ basis.
Q – hit and run is ok, when it’s gotta be…

I hope you shake it off for a few days, keep busy w/ your many other important enterprises. Or as you often say…. “Let’s move on!” Have a good one. Take care.

  • Sorry my man.

Gary, today is a sad day for you and I sympathize with you since the Bears were eliminated also.

Unfortunately for you the other team I follow, the Steelers look like they will win another Super Bowl.

The Jets tried hard there at the end to pull it out and you got to be proud of that. They could have rolled over and walked away with their tails between their legs, but they didn’t. Congrats on getting to where they did. πŸ™‚

  • Onslow

I feel a week of no shows coming on…… πŸ™

The Jets lost. Time to break out some beer and whisky instead. Wine is overrated anyway.

G, we’ll give you a couple of days of mourning, then it will be time to move on. Looking forward to more “THUNDER”, “The Big Ass Glass”, “Laidback Friday’s”, “THE COUCH”, “Sniffy Sniffs”, and just DAMN GOOD SHOWS! Keep the Faith Brother!

Hey Gary, I know nothing I say will make you feel better, but for what it’s worth: the Jets are here to stay. They will be contenders for the next few years.

  • Anonymous

Gary, sorry for the Jets loss, even though I’m not a Jets fan I was pulling for them. First half was ugly, second half they woke up. What makes it worse is that they could have won but for a few poor play choices and some non=calls by the refs. Always next season to look forward to.

*dislike* not that I did not appreciate the rye humor and dripping sarcasm, but still *dislike*

  • Not sorry about the loss to the Steelers!

  • I normally prefer the shorter bang on episodes better

  • David M Roberts

Totally agree. Tough loss for Jets fans (As a Packers fan I REALLY wanted the Jets to win.. namely because I figured they would be more easy to beat at the Super Bowl than Pittsburgh, but oh, well….). That aside, I’ve watched Gary do his thing for years, and expect him to bounce right back and look to next year, while filling this year with all the things we love about him and WLTV. Go Pack! Go Jets!

Sorry for the loss GV – you must be crushed. Cheer up. Sanchez grew up a lot this year – there will be more shots down the line.

Bummer of a show Gary Vee. It is always so disapointing to have that high anticipation and excitment for a wine only to be let down on that first taste.

  • Sal B

Hey Gary-always liked your big-ass glass- where can I get a pair? I didn’t see any when I was at Wine Library 2 weeks ago. Also, you need to work on your Italian- I would be happy to give you some pointers on pronunciation if you want. Sal B.

  • I like Castello Banfi Brunello 2005, since I’m working several states away, can’t drink it until I get home.

( how awesome is it that you have a 12″ figure of a fireman, love that type of action figure/collectible…)

QOTD: I think these tight format episodes are nice actually, very “to the point”.

QOTD: I like them, especially when I’m behind on viewing, but as I’ve said before, I like a mix.

  • Sal B

    thanks- a big-ass glass with a big-ass price!

  • Anonymous

QOTD: I like longer shows–the more content, the merrier!

Really a bummer about the Jets : (

  • QOTD: I like a mix…variety’s the spice of life.

  • Anonymous

GV – I am going to agree with my man, Dan “On Tap,” and say that variety is the spice of life! In regards to the QOTD! I dig the two parters personally…

  • Todd

Love it when a wine bums you out, cause it proof positive your show is all about the palette!
QOTD: I like the longer nerdier shows usually

  • Anonymous

    Good show.

QOTD: Like I’ve said before Gary, The shows should be about quality, not quantity.

  • Hey Gary

I love Italian wine; it’s my favourite, but for me the weak spot is always Brunello. I’ve had quite a few and never loved one. I’m not sure if there’s something I just don’t get but htey always underwhelm me and seem over-priced. Barolo on the other hand …

    Cheers
    Andrew
