100/100

This is my favourite episode ever. As a fellow Jets fan, that is exactly how I felt and exactly as I acted. We’re not greedy – just one Superbowl will do. Just one.

    GV – Sorry Brotini! It’s a tough one…Go Pats!

  • That’s cold, esp since the Wine Library is about 8mi or 15 min from Jets Headquarters…

And that is a team I would be proud to play on!

I think it was actually hard for him to sit that still for that long. Great episode! Instant classic.

Sorry about the Jets Man! but I have never laughed so hard in my life! I love you dude! not shit!

  • I am seriously sorry about the Jets. Even though I am a Bills fan I just HATE the Steelers and their “Terrible Towels” Oh no they are soooooo Terrrrrribblllle.

How was the Bourbon? I love anything from the Hudson Valley!

Gary…it’s a freaking GAME! 🙂 I lived in Buffalo for 15 years…be glad you’re not a Bills or Sabres fan. Super Bowls – zero (can you say “wide right”?). Stanley Cups – zero (can you say “no goal”?). That being said, my condolences. Do yourself a favor…give up Football and start watching a real sport…RUGBY! Check out http://www.usarugby.org/

I agree with OROldSchool… nothing like cheap Jose Cuervo to envelope you enough physical pain so you forget about the emotional anguish your team puts you through. Being a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, I could go through a bottle a year 🙁

But as I always say “there’s always next year!” (because, really, there is no other choice)

  • Next year GV!!!

  • PERFECT!!!

    ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ………………………. and 5 min more.

  • Sorry about the Jets loss. I was rooting for them from The Rock. And I couldn’t help but laugh while watching this clip. Great comedy even if it hurt so bad.

my friend I feel your pain and understand; I had my mind made up to go to Dallas for Gang Green!

This was an epic catharsis Gary. Loved this episode!! Your sullied exuberance was truly emanating and even I for a brief moment felt your monumental loss. You rock Gary!
P.S. I knew this was coming; I visited my folks on sunday and as i passed through the living room, i saw the final score, i said “ah shit, gary is gonna be pissed!” my dad said “who the f@#K is Gary!?”

    Come-on man!!!

This might be the stuff of legend, but I STILL want my 5 minutes BACK!!!! =)

You go LM, Really dense offering from the Team at Ardbeg, Super Quality Whisky, maybe a bit overpriced for what it is; ie a circa 7 year old whisky. The U, I have a bottle of, but haven’t opend that one yet…………….

  • Scruff

put it this way, the Jets will be a little cheaper for you to buy without another division championship…

  • As a Jets fan, it took me until Wednesday night to watch this…

This is how i felt the previous monday. Classic ep gary, equal parts sadness and humor. In the end the super bowl is between the two toughest teams though. Pats didn’t have the D yet and Jets are still developing consistency (plus schottenheimer is absolutey terrible, pass on third and goal? really? mangold had a great push on that play, they shoulda run it up the middle. and then run on 4th with pitt keying on the run by then? just stupid. that non-score was the end of the game).

It’s only grown men playing with balls.

If you really wanted to do this right, you should’ve shot this in jail. Look, at least you got close… I’m a Lion’s fan, we’ve only had a couple of shots at this since 1957…hell we drink like this all football season. At least you could’ve shown a couple of other alternatives…you could’ve chased it with a Old Style or better yet a Goose Island Bourbon County.
Suck it up buttercup, the N.F.L. is no place for crybabys!

God, watching this hurt more than the loss. Kept rehashing failed opps.

Seriously, since Wine Spectator did scotch last month, how about a scotch tasting??

OK Gary here is some advice! I’ve been a Jets fan for a LONG time(1971) and I’ve have this way of avoiding the crushing feeling of defeat in a huge game like this. Don’t have such high expectations! I’m a real and HONEST fan of the Jets. Wherein I hoped they would beat Pittsburgh, I didn’t think they would. Going into Pittsburgh against the #1 defense in the NFL, a offense that gets it done etc… So when the Jets lost I was upset but not crushed, because I kept my expectations lower.

  • Aww. Hugs for you, Gary! Loved this episode. It showed the flip-side to your boundless, almost childlike enthusiasm. Both are entertaining!

How did the bourbon rate, by the way — or was it too adulterated by bitter tears?

You’re the best, I’ll keep watching if you keep taping.

gary youre a funny guy 🙂 sorry for your loss

Sorry just catching up…Brilliant! True! Sincere! Beckettian! I sent you a consoling email in the aftermath (it is no small thing to have an intense emotional attachment to an only occasionally achieving team – sports allegiances without the local component just don’t compute…and I grew up in Detroit) but this just demonstrates it. When you’re a real fan it’s real despair. It’s a gut punch and silly (but no less real) at the same time. Kudos for having the grace to wish the twin victors good luck on the board. Next Year GV! Next Year guaranteed…

Sorry about the game man that really sucks. I m pretty pissed to just keep drinking that bourbon and you might forget about things for a couple of hours. This by the way is going to be a classic episode.

    Hey Gary!
First off I wanna say I love your show! Second I have been a lurker-in-hiding but I’m coming out. You are very entertaining and I just love some of your discriptive terms. I like how you keep it real and even if the wine sucks you don’t try to hide it no matter who the producer is. Anyway it is funny how I have watched many episodes of WLTV and the one comment on is a Bourbon one? But I feel your pain you see….because I am a die-hard Bear fan from Chicago and was tortured from a loss against Green Bay! This is my first post and just felt like I wanted to comment. Keep up the awesome show and fantastic energy and continue changing the wine world!!!

  • Hey, at least its not the 3RD Conference title game lost in a row. As an Eagles fan in Jan 04, when the final dagger was hammered in before the game was officially over, I fell prostrate on the floor. When the game was officially over, I went out on the porch and screamed a four letter explitive beginning with F and held it for five seconds. It helped slightly. By the way, drinking whiskey neat is an ability all men should learn.

  • Don Simpson

Gary – I’m glad you did a show on Monday, even though you were devastated. I look forward to watching the rest of the shows you taped this week and hopefully you’re progressively feeling better. You are the man!

  • Anonymous

so sad. i noticed there was ZERO spitting in this episode. poor gary.

  • Best episode ever. When the season finishes you’ll know what it’s like to be an Eagles fan 3 conference championships in a row and 3 loses.

Hey, Our Buffalo Bills went to 4 consecutive Super Bowls and came up short….Gary, I really enjoyed this episode and actually sent it to a few people. Good Job!
