EP 975 Beaune Wine Tasting

Gary Vaynerchuk tastes 3 different Beaune reds from Burgundy, on the suggestion of a Vayniac. This region is in the heart of Burgundy and makes great values for a region known for its expensive wines.

Wines tasted in this episode:

1996 Maillard Savigny Les BeauneBeaune White or Red

Lines of the day, Mott, ‘That’s just Awful.’ GV, ‘That’s just like you and I became New Teenage Ninja Turtles, picked up the manhole, went down there and it was like sewer city.’

Hilarious episode full of different ways to describe stinkiness (including ‘a rhino just farted’)

Also notable for a rare swear word having to be bleeped out

Great stuff

havent even watched it yet, but i am already satisfied. LOVE THE BURG!!! next time can you do some “baller shit” like and aged (70’s, 8o’s) grand cru from like meo or leroy??? on another note, i literally not five mins ago finished watching your rails conference 2010, and (in the voice of the kid from jerry mcguire) you said fuck!!!! you intrigue me, but there have been so many before you that are so full of shit, i still kind of dont believe you…yet…………..

  • Question response: Jacobs Field in Cleveland, at the end of a Game 7 Series clinching win for the Indians. As a Cleveland fan I feel your Jets pain, only time 1,000,000,000.

QOTD: I am a bit of a space geek…I would have loved (cause I know it ain’t happenin’) to step foot on the moon and check out our green and blue home!

Good to see your smile back big G!

  • Great show, I’ve never heard of “Beaune.” Thanks for the introduction!
QOTD: My Grandfather’s home in Poland (I have no idea where it is, but if I could “pick” one place, that would be it)

  • Great show. I love Pinots so it hit the spot.

QOTD: (Wine-related) Vertical tasting at DRC… (Non-Wine-related) Radiohead concert in Melbourne, I get to see them live and meet my nephew…

I want to be in the Big Man’s “temple of soul” before and after a Springsteen concert in Jersey. I want to wander behind the scenes at the British Museum. I’d like to taste back vintages in the cellar at Domaine Dujac with Alan Meadows, Jacques Seysses, Hugh Johnson and Gary.

  • I’d love to go and see a american football stadium. I have become interested in this sport since this season. As coming outside of the USA, I am loving the sport madly! Haven’t missed any games of the Jets (when online viewable). That meant staying up till 4AM+ in the morning for me.

So I would love to see their field, dead center, absorb its big ass size and feel so tiny! That is what I would love to do some day

Great show, no… wait… FANTASTIC SHOW. I could feel the thunder all the way over here in CA. Rino horn, the always classic sheep?s butt, poop, Dominatrix, you really pulled out the platitudes for this one Gary! I am a huge fan of (affordable) Burgundian Pinot, and will be seeking out the wines you tried in this episode! Also, that is the first edit of shit I have heard in this show, I know you have let it slip before!

QOTD: Always been a fan of Greek architecture. I would say the Parthenon is something I would really like to see in the not to distant future, and considering Greece is more broke than the US right now, they might pay me to come see it!

Great show, always love to see Burgundy representing.

QOTD: I’d love to sit front row endzone at Lambeau Field at the NFC championship game, Packers vs. Skins. With the game on the line, have Brian Orakpo lay out a GB RB, pick up the fumble, run into the endzone and Lambeau leap with the victory sealed.
(Sorry, not the best timing Mr. V, but that’s what I got)

QOTD: I would like to be sitting in a relaxed restaurant wicker-chair on the outside area of a Parisian restaurant. Sipping a hot beverage watching people mill about all afternoon in a bustling square while playing a game of chess with a good friend. To sit if not for just a moment and admire the scenery.

Hope I was able to paint a clear picture GV.

  • Awesome! love the show! trying to love more wine, especially Pinot. Also disappointed in the Oregon showing, because I’ve had some really good Pinot’s from Oregon and some good whites as well. Anywhere in the world? Plop me down right in the middle of the Virunga Mountains near a troop of mountain gorillas, so I could see something truly majestic.

Nice idea of a Beaune show, gj Ben Browning! Nice show, loved it. Would like to see Mott’s face with that SLB haha!

QOTD: on a boat on the mediterranean see with my girl, a fishing rod, a few bottles of Montrachet and some great champagne ;).

I want to drive a boat through the canals in Venice

  • Curls_CDN

Superb show. Particularly loved the part about how wine #2 smelled as if a rhino farted on you… classic. I suppose a trip to the zoo is in order to see what rhino fart really smells like right?? Time to train my palate.

QOTD – I’m a huge foodie and wine lover… I would love to experience an evening at the French Laundry in California… Going all out of course… sparing no expense! πŸ™‚

I’d like to be in Florence receiving my last fitting on a hand-made suit, and then I would wear that suit to dinner — fried artichokes, florentine steak for 2, and an Italian red of your choosing.

QOTD: Palais Des Papes & Notre Dame Des Doms in Avignon, cause I’d be in the right place to get some great juice (among other reasons).

Some great episodes GV these past few weeks. Really enjoying them. For #1000, how about a double blind and let the personal shoppers each pick a wine. Gotta name the region and varietal. Finish it off with some Dom !!!!

  • I want to go to that Tibet and sip tea with a monk – specifically from one of those houses wedged into the cliff

    As 2nd and 3rd options:

    1. That African farm where the rhino farted.
    2. Randy Macho Man Savage’s palatial estate

QOTD: Middle of Rioja sipping an earthy 100% Tempranillo….possibly with a yummy spanish man and tapas.

PS- Rhino a$$=classic. It should be printed on a shirt. I’d buy it.

  • QOTD: CKC coming out here to say the Great Pyramids in Egypt.

Gary – great show. Awesome to see some value oriented Burgs from Beaune make it onto WLTV. Great Burgundy is like a drug – once you have been bitten it is impossible to lose ht passion to find and taste more -even the funky and stinky ones that taste like no other wine… Hopefully your enthusiasm and encouragement will lead to more addicted Vayniac Burgheads πŸ™‚
QOTD – given the theme of the show, I think I would like to be locked into the cellar at Domaine Romanee Conti in Burgundy with a couple of close friends and a cork screw. One night to see how many fine bottles we could “sample”… πŸ™‚

  • What a show! Sparkled and glimmered in the afternoon sun!

QOTD: That is really tough… I am going to rephrase it to an easier-to-achieve place to visit: Bobcat Bite in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Get in on some crazy burgers (at least that is what I have heard and seen).

  • Meh, Burgs can be great, but they rarely live up to the $$$ pricetag IMO.

QOTD: either Santa Cruz Island of the Galapagos or Crozet Islands where Orcas beach themselves to feed on seals

  • QOTD: St. Sixtus’ Abbey, Westvleteren, Belgium. These monks brew one of the worlds best beers, Westvleteren 12.

Bourgogne delivers yet again! Nice episode Gary and a tough QOTD…

    QOTD:
If i ever get married, i would love to get engaged at the Iguazu waterfalls on the border of Argentina/Brasil. Open up a really nice bottle of champagne with exotic notes, less prominent oakeyness of a great vintage!

I live at the source, yet don’t drink it at all.. I am more of wine (duhhh) than beer guy. Kinda wish i was born in France, not Belgium, altho the French have attitude issues. Hmm tough choice

Come On, “Rhino Fart and a 4H Convention” Classic! HaHaHaHaHa! Great Show, major “Thunder” Gary. Really enjoyed this Pinot episode. Love Me Some Pinot, X-Specially in “The Big Ass Glass”! ” “You are the man Gary Vaynerchuk (Clifford Franklin), you are the man!” (Movie reference)

QOTD: I have had the pleasure of going to many of the places I have always wanted to go, thanks to the United States Navy. Rome (Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, The Vatican, The Pantheon, etc.) Athens (The Parthenon), Istanbul (The Blue Mosque), The French Riviera, and Mallorca, Spain was fabulous.

Specifically these days I think I would love to play three golf courses, St. Andrews in Edinburgh, Scotland (I had the chance once and passed because I had duty), Pebble Beach in Monterey, California, and The Blue Monster at Doral C.C. in Florida.

I would love to spend a couple weeks in Bordeaux, France working at Chateau Pontet-Canet with the Tesserons in Pauillac during the crush.

Lastly I would love to go to Moscow and visit the Kremlin and St. Basil’s in Red Square among other things.
