Great tasting! I love learning about Taurasi wines. Have you tried other Aglianico wines? Which one is your favorite?

  • Thnx for watching and the nice comments, really!

  • I have been feeling it lately πŸ™‚

  • Loved your explanation of why we’d like the Terredora Taurasi, Gary. Apparently others liked it as well since it’s sold out at Wine Library. (Gee, what a surprise). πŸ™‚
QOTD1: Nonfat milk with whip (Starbucks )

  • Make it -Change!

  • so happy to turn u onto something new πŸ™‚

  • for sure!

  • Great wine BB!

  • its a value for sure!

Rockin’ episode today, GV. Makes me excited to see the next 1000 episodes. I like my hot chocolate with milk. Last night I made some hot chocolate that was basically just dark chocolate ganache dissolved in chocolate milk, and it was unbelievable. Holla.

My house red this year was probably the Charles Smith Boom Boom Syrah. Simply delicious. And I moved to WA state this year (Seattle), so I have been drinking a lot more WA wines in general.

Try a Trader Joe’s if you have one near you.

    Starducks overrated πŸ™‚

  • Thanks for breaking out a new wine not on my radar and providing the education with entertainment that I love and have come to depend on! Have to say, keep forgetting to go back to your links when the deal is actually on so I am finding them frustrating.

    QOTD: Milk of course!
QOTD2: Whites- Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc-Viogner and El Barcino Cava. Reds-Alta Maria Pinot and For Ross Pinot.

  • Are u kidding? It was the least I could do. Hey, if you didn’t open the zin, I would have.. It’s cellarrat’s fault. πŸ™‚
Loved the wines.. Schramsberg blanc de noirs was yummy, Thanks.

  • This seems to suggest that you’ve now hidden all the bottles of the Terredora WL may have ever had. Oh, that poor WL inventory!

Awesome gathering/party folks. Great to meet all of you and share some fine wines. Cellarnut gets the blame for all lost brain cells.

  • I agree.. Alta Maria Pinot is lovely (and less than $23)

QOTD. Milk + Sugar + Cocoa Powder. (Frys)
QOTD. Always trying new reds – so it is hard to say. As a BC boy I’d put a shout out to Road 13 Rockpile Red blend – as I’ve bought it more than 3 times in the last year.

  • Well done, Castello! And thx to all for making the trip to Palo Alto for Vayniak shindig. Yeah, I’m still looking for my brain cells.

    Milk!
I buy futures at David Coffaro for 11 to 13 bones after barrel tasting. He has one of the oldest wine blogs around called Dave’s Diary. http://www.coffaro.com/
Good Barbera, Zin, Petite Sirah, Cab as well as strange but yummy blends including Lagrein and Petit Verdot.

Nice show! Loved to hear about Taurasi!

    QOTD1: MILK!!
QOTD2: I am using my cellar for daily drinkers. I have too many wines that are getting old and I want to drink them before they loose it. That said, I’ve been drinking the Torre Quarto Bottaccia ’07 a lot lately, and still have 2 cases from WL to enjoy. At $12, it’s a killer daily drinker!

  • BuffaloLou

I purchased a couple of the Dr Loosen Rieslings from WL, too. Fantastic!

  • Thnx BL, u ready for tomorrow? πŸ˜‰

  • Thats What I am here for πŸ™‚

  • and sorry about the deals πŸ™ are u on the WL email service?

Sforzato Della Valtellina. It would be a good opportunity to have your dad join you.

  • Missed the past few episodes, but it’s awesome to see you bring your A game today. Great EP!

QOTD1: Milk with a bit cayenne pepper for a nice kick
QOTD2: Tyee GewΓΌrztraminer (http://www.tyeewine.com/node/11) Perfect for when I’ve had a rough week.

Just a thought: It would be nice to have quick access to recent eps on each ep page. Either in the form of a ‘click here for ep #XXX” or a “previous ep” button.

    I’m always ready GV! 8)

  • BuffaloLou

Dave has nice wines at great prices!

  • QOTD #1 Milk all the way
QOTD My house wine of the year was by far Alamos Malbec… Good (not great) malbec that you can find in almost any liquor store (even a small mom and pop) for around $9.99 on average… (Really fits my CKC lifestyle)

    Soy milk.

QOTD: I’d say the Los800 2005 from Priorato, really neat for the price.

Milk with the chocolate. Make my own starting with Ghiradelli Cocoa Powder. Have had Anglianico but not Taurasi. Need to give it a try. House wines are Michael David Petit/Petite red and Elyse L’Ingenue white

    QOTB 1: Milk 100%
QOTB 2: For my house wine I love the Peter Lehmann Shiraz from the Barossa Valley. At around $16 a bottle it’s a stand out for me.

QOTD1: Water, but perhaps that’s why I never make hot chocolate.
QOTD2: White – Charles Smith Kung Fu Girl Riesling, Red – McKinley Springs Bombing Range Red

  • QOTD#1: I prefer milk but am usually too lazy so ends up being water.
QOTD#2: Finally, a question I can unequivocally answer. Ryan Patrick Naked Chardonnay was/is our house White. For 8 bucks, or less, you can’t beat it. For our house Red, it’s Principato.

Great show, I had the radici just a month ago and was a little disappointed too..

QOTD: My red house wine is our homemade Chianti and the white is Giogantinu Vermentino from Sardinia (great value from a producers cooperative).

  • tjvalla

Awesome streak this, going toward the magical 1K, GaryV!
    Side question: Always milk.
QOTD: white – Dominio de la Vega Sauvignon Blanc, red – Casa Cadaval Padre Pedro

Energy overlord – gotta love it! Plus, I learned a new region and a new grape today. I’ll take it in the back of my head as I’m off to work.

    QOTD1 : I never have hot chocolate…
QOTD2 : I am way to curious to have a “house-wine” – so many wines out there to try!

  • Nothing to kick out of bed.

    LOL

In the best possible world my house wine would be Billecart-Salmon. In this world, my house wine is not wine. I “suffer” with hopilicious beer.

Love seeing new wines for me on the show, that’s what it’s all about!

    QOTD:
    1. If you put water in my cocoa you will hear about it from me. Milk or go home!
    2. 2007 Domaine de Pallus Chinon – best expression of Chinon I’ve been fortunate to come across. http://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iWine=778697

Had the Alta Maria PN yesterday for first time! Very solid.

Cocoa with neither water nor milk, but instead with heavy cream. I miss that cocoa espresso that starbucks had for a while.

House wine for me lately is either Masi Campofiorin when I’m cooking, since the 06 and 07 vintages are both great but very different, or d’Arenberg Footbolt of which the 07 and 08 are a revelation in terms of the cliche old/new world blend.

Qotd 1: I usually just do water but I haven’t had hot cocoa in a long time so I couldn’t tell which tastes better to me anymore.
Qotd 2: I don’t have a house wine. I only have a new wine once every week and its always something different. I’m a ckc so that’s just the way it has to be most of the time. πŸ™

  • hepp, a varietal (Aglianico) and a region I haven’t tasted. Nice. Have to recify that pronto.
Checking the monopoly and they only have two (2)manufacturers for ordering, and pricy tooooooo….

QOTD: The wine I drank most of 2010 was the Crozes-Hermitage Le Launes 2007
QOTD: lots of dark chocolate or pure 100% powder with full milk but not that much, a sprinkle of sugar

  • Scabs and Mila Kunis. Very nice.

QOTD1: Always milk. It’s an insult to the chocolate to use water.
QOTD2: Probably Domaine Vlassides Shiraz 2008 & 2009 (8-9 Euros) from The Rock. It’s not available outside of Cyprus so I cannot link it up…

  • yes, hot water
