Line of the day, Sasha – ‘I nailed it’ Gary ‘No – you agreed with Robert Parker’

Good show – I like the way Gary has so much more knowledge and insight into the wines tasted but doesn’t make Sasha feel bad for not knowing so much. Classy

QOTD: I think it’s somewhat simple. If both teams play their best, Pittsburgh wins. I think in the end the master (LeBeau) outdeuls the student (Capers) and the Steelers defense makes a game changing play. LeBeau is very tough with two weeks to prepare.

Great show. I had an 84 Shafer a couple months ago. It was a gift. Unfortunately it wasn’t kept all that well. It was decent, but I wish I could have had it 5-10 years earlier.

I’m with your dad. I’m starting to move from the fruit bombs to things a little more complex.

    Thanks for all you do.

    Yours,

    B.S.

    Absolutely superb episode my brother!!!

Huge fan of Papa V, he reminds me of my Papi, have to send you a photo so you can see how much they look alike! Give him a hug for me please. We don’t realize how fortunate we are to sill have them around! As soon as I am near your neck of the woods, I will go to meet you guys.

    Love the “healthy” competition!

What did he do in my beautiful island of Puerto Rico??

QOTD: Sorry Papa V and Lil’ V…Steelers going all the way!

Great show. Always enjoy when Sasha makes an appearance. and I am with him.. love cheese and baguette with my wine : )
Being 07 Cabs, did you let these breathe at all before tasting? Always hear 07 is a very good and approachable Napa vintage.
Predicting the Cheeseheads wine the Big Game.

  • Though it’s no less deserving, that’s different film, Allan… “YOU’RE OUT OF YOUR ELEMENT!”

  • JK

    I’d give this show a 60 to 65.

  • Genius, Gary. First time I see one with your dad and I loved the casual, informal nature of the show.

    QOTD: Greenbay

It’s been too long since Sasha’s last appearance. Welcome back! I can’t believe there wasn’t any cheese/meats/breads until the end.

    QOTD 0.5: Del Frisco
    QOTD1: Green Bay

  • Great Show,

Like Sascha, I have been a huge fan of the California Cabs.

I love the feeling of floating down a Minty silky ribbon while enjoying the dark cassis and Blackberry fruits.

There has been a lot hype about the 07 vintage for California cabs.

Maybe you could do a show highlighting some high scorers with relatively low prices, you would probably have to skip Napa but there should some good ones out there right now.

Superbowl, could care less, but The steelers will win it.

    Cheers!

Loved seeing you with your Dad. Makes me really miss mine. Great show.

Oh, and Steelers. Hate Green Bay. Hate em.

Great show GV. Oh how I wish I could afford wines like those. Thank you.

P.S. Any chance you could get better volume from your guests in the future. Granted, my laptop speakers suck, but I can always hear you and can barely hear your pops. Just sayin.

    Cheers!

  • Favorite parts of this episode: (1) 11:59 – The smiles from Gary & Sasha after he made a comment about Misha watching the show & (2) 21:23 – Heartfelt “thanks for being on the show dad”.

    QOTD: Steelers 23-17

  • TheGreatWazu

Steelers should eek it out but I could care less about both teams. Wondering why Cabs add specifically Petite Bordeaux? What component about Carbernet are they trying to hide? Tell Sasha Lou from MB Management says hello. I go to Arthur’s in Morris Plains, NJ for a great marblized steak.

Hey Gary, these shows with your Dad are always great. I also get hungry when he is on. QOTD: Steelers will win convincingly.

Only two minutes in, and I have to comment about the way you starve your father. His pathetic “and no food” comment at 1:55 just pulled on my heart strings…. 🙂

  • It’s cool to see that your dad is on wlTV.

The Russian spy is back! Love it!

  • Haha, awesome show today.

Loved the show including the old style (Shasha) and new style (Gary) – not so much in age but in style from the clothing, to the comments, to the drinking. Loved the brown bags and the contrasting views – great combination.

    Go Green Bay!

    Awesome show!

    Green Bay by 12.

  • Gary, Im kind of new to your show, BUT I want to know why your Dad doesnt spit it out and you do? Im getting the idea maybe you dont drink while your working or whats the deal. By the way love your show and I just finished the book…..WOW…..Loved it.

Luv the shows with your Dad. You have such a fantastic family! Steelers all the way!!

Yo G, what was your steak question?

As far as high end chain steak joints……meh…..super meh. There is exactly one steak restaurant in Columbus I’ll eat at.

Not that the others aren’t good, I just don’t like the atmosphere. There is nothing fancy about eating a big slab of meat, and there shouldn’t be. If I want really good steak, I age and prepare it myself. I’m not wearing a suit to eat an over priced hunk of meat and spend $100 on a cabernet.

The only steak house I visit here is a straight gangster laced time machine out of the 50s with a nice wine list and horrible side dishes.

Great Show! Gotta Love Sasha!!!!! Nostrovia Sasha!
What can I say, Not Just “The Big Ass Glass” But “The Big Asss Glassessss”!!!! Zooowwweee!!! and a “Bag’n It” Episode. Life is Sweeeet!
Love’n the Cabs. Between PN and Cabs, those are the most I have layan down right now.
Should have had the bread and cheese at the start. Great job Josh! Way to take care of Sasha. I am definately with Sasha on the Old Worlds, they just suit my palate right now. The “Fruit Bombs” are, as you would say, “Over the Top” for me. Gotta have the tannins, funk, long on the finish, and yet well balanced. Thanks for a great show Gary and Sasha!

    QOTD: Steelers by 17.
    NOSTROVIA!

It’s Petit Verdot. Mostly for darker color and a little somthin somthin?

  • Sasha shows are the BEST!!! Appears he may be learning the ‘sniffy-snif’ and ‘whirl’ protocol… or was that because there was not any CHEESE!!! 😉

QOTD: Rooting for PACK, but think the Steelers have too much ‘big game’ experience…

  • steve

    QOTD: GB: 23-17

Love Sasha’s face when he’s picking the cork out of the glass, pure irritated distain!

Gents – excellent show. Watching you with your Dad Gary explains a lot… many pieces of the puzzle falling into place as I watched… Now I understand why he is such a popular guest on the show 🙂

QOTD – Green Bay All the Way. To quote from modern poet Lil Waye…

    Money green, yellow broad
    Aaron Rodgers, MVP award
This is Green Bay, bitch we go hard
This is Packer Country, where ya green card?
    Terrible towels, that shit?s borin?
We got the ball, you know we scorin?

    Enjoy!

  • NY Pete

7-1-1 recently … keep the faith Sasha!

  • Alexandre-CF

    Fenomenal show. Shasa rlz.

    QOTD: GB for sure

  • So if you don’t pull Randy Macho Man Savage for #1,000 just go with Sasha for an hour episode.

I’m working and just replaying this show again as background over Pandora. You guys together are just so daggon good.

  • Steelers 24 – Packers 20

  • NY Pete

    Go Packers.

  • Leatherpalate

Sasha is so cool! Steelers will win because they know how- GB will make a ton of mistakes in this game- I HOPE. Other, question would be Morton’s Original here in ChiTown although David Burke is starting to put together a cute little chain play..

  • Here here for the couch!

I’m going to say Pittsburgh by 9

Gee it’s getting close to the 1000th episode I think all the vayniacs should suggest a special guest they would like on that 1000th show and a location where the show should be done, what do you think?
