Line of the day, Sasha – ‘I nailed it’ Gary ‘No – you agreed with Robert Parker’

Good show – I like the way Gary has so much more knowledge and insight into the wines tasted but doesn’t make Sasha feel bad for not knowing so much. Classy

Great show but…seeing the prices of those wines makes me depressed…

  • Sasha + Brown Bags = Awesomeness! Loved the back and forth with the guesses. Great work on the accurate ones! Shafer sounds like a good gift for my ‘rents. Couch for manana?

    QOTD: Steelers 23 Packers 20

  • what I want: GB: 27 Pitt: 24

    Nice to meet you Sasha!

    QOTD: no idea!

  • THE GREAT SASHA RETURNS! I had no idea he was a devils fan. Man. Poor guy. I love my redwings. Franzen 5 goals … what!

I want Green Bay to win. Rogers is awesome, he wasn’t so hot in that win against the Bears but I think he is going to have the Steelers beat. GB 27 PIT 17

Great show…I have to say it was a bit of a tease hearing about a Sauvignon Blanc…but not hearing what it was. So Gary, are you gonna tell us what it was that you ordered?

QOTD — Greenbay by at least 8

  • So funny, that’s the first thing I thought when I saw Sasha. Oh man, I hope they have food. 😀 I love the way his eyes light up and the big smile he gets on his face when he talks about his granddaughter.

You can keep your fancy, overpriced Cab. I’d rather have a nice bottle of cider instead.

    *ps…no ties….

Great show, always enjoy seeing Sasha. I scored the 1.5 91+ a few weeks ago at a tasting, seems consistent. All three wines are over-priced IMHO, should be in the 30-35 range. You should try Uppercut, made by Provenence. Just decant it for 2 days before drinking. At $16 it puts these wines to shame for QPR.

QOTD: Don’t care, won’t watch as its my wifes birthday.

  • That’s why he left the frame. It wasn’t for business. He said please….bring some food!

  • one of my favorite Gary-Sasha moments….

  • Steelers def secondary will get sliced and diced by Greenbay QB.

    Peace,

Nice to see Sasha again. He was impressive with the wines too.
Qotd: I think steelers are going to win by about 10 points. They’re physicality is going to dominate green bay.

  • Don Simpson

SASHA!!!! YESSSSSS!!!!! Can’t wait to watch later tonight, just couldn’t contain my excitement that long 🙂 This has been a strong to quite strong week of the Thunder Show!

Great to see Sasha on the show as always! I’m not about those Cabs ,no qpr.

That was so nice of Sasha to lend you his star power 😉
He seemed a bit more subdued today — less pugnacious — but it’s always nice to see him.

  • Sasha..always your best guest because he let’s you do all the talking (without you having to interrupt) 😉

    Shafer is an all-time favorite.

QOTD: don’t know, don’t care. I just hope it’s an exciting game and the commercials are awesome!

I looked at the still before I started watching and said: ‘Sasha’s on and there’s no food! Where’s the food?’ lol! I love your Dad, Gary!
QOTD: Green Bay. It has to be.

    Packers providing Rogers is healthy.

Sasha makes my day every time…

I like that Sasha is far more laid back than Gary and interesting contrast to say the least.

Wine number two seemed like a winner in my book. I love a good steak wine.

    QOTD: Packers.

  • Packer_Backer

Always nice to enjoy some great wine with family.

QOTD: Packers of course…Ol’ Benny won’t be able to throw down the field w/the speed of the Pack’s secondary and will end up scrambling and dumping the ball off in the flats. No problems here considering how deep a line backing core the Packers have. Starting “mike” and #5 both on IR and they still tear it up, especially Fabio.

One other thing, did anyone see the game between the Steelers and Packers last season? long TD pass falling out of bounds with no time on the clock to win. Sure I’m a Packers fan all all of this is my opinion but the best part is………. INCREDIBLE MATCHUP that will make for a VERY exciting game—->EVERYONE wins!

Love the blind shows and adding your dad makes it even better. I really have been enjoying Cab lately, but not cali (overpriced).
QOTD: Steelers 27-21, but I am rooting against big ben therapist.

  • QOTD: Loved this show (like everyone would), don’t care about Super Bowl. Sorry.

Sasha and brown bags on the same show????? AWESOMENESS!!! Watching this episode makes me want a huge steak. Which leads to…

A(almost)QOTD – I think Gary was going to ask what our favorite steak house is. My answer would be Harris’ on VanNess in SF. Great steak and HUGE wine list.

QOTD: Packers, all the way. They flew through the playoffs and are surging.

  • QOTD: Green Bay…but I am from Sconnie.

Now I gotta go get me some cheese after watching that…great show!

  • Great, great show! Welcome back Sasha.

I agree with Sasha on having to need food with CA cabs. Very difficult for me to drink them by themselves.

QOTD: Packers, please, let’s hope. The Steelers cannot win this year with Rapelisberger.

    Cheers!

    P.S. I’m practicing my “belt move.” 🙂

Any show with Sasha is always a good show. I loved how he commented that his score should have been above your score.. So funny and “Dad like” We he gave you that kiss on your head, it reminded me so much of me and my son. For the 1000th episode i truely feel it should be with Sasha and AJ. No outside guests, just family. Maybe Lizzzie might make an appearance. It is a major milestone and family should be there, IMHO.
QOTD: The damn Steelers will win again.

  • Anonymous

Gary, I find that a lot of times in red wines that if I let it sit for a while I start getting a hint of sulfur dioxide like the preservative in dried apricots. Any wisdom to offer as to why that happens?

QOTD: I’m looking for Green Bay to win the Super Bowl this weekend.

  • Anonymous

Nice show guys. Way to keep it focused and really enjoyed seeing the two seasoned palates interwoven. Good selection by KMurph, too.

    QOTD: GBP – 30; PS – 27.

  • NJ Big Chris

Great show guys.. QOTD: Green Bay

    Gimmie the Pack 31 – 27.
Great show. Now here is my question for y’all:

I’m going to Napa in a few weeks. I’ve been there plenty of times, but I know I haven’t even come close to visiting all the wineries. What is your favorite winery in Napa to visit?

  • DaveAll

Mondavi, just out of respect. He did so much for Ca. wines.

  • Anonymous

Sasha is great! Wish I was there to help you-all finish off those cabs!
QOTD: Rooting for GB, but barely.

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

Sasha is terrific! I love seeing these two together. I didn’t want it to end. The camaraderie between the two is fantastic. Another great show, fellas!

    QOTD: The Pack! I pray….

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

Great post, bro! I agree wholeheartedly with the Steelers comment.

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

The Manny Casanova? I have a friend by the same name. Not a common name. Good to have a new guy here!

  • Always good stuff when Sasha is on there… but please get him some food at the start of the taping. He’s a much happier dude when there’s noshes around. 🙂
