Great episode on tasting value wines! Loved how different wines from around the world were explored.

It's nice to see quality doesn't always mean high price.

Do you have a favorite budget wine pick from this list?

First Gen. iPhone, but I gotta say in the last 18 months I have been more and more disillusioned with Apple’s declining quality with their hardware products. Have had multiple issues across pods, laptops, and tower computers for both work and personal use. πŸ™

  • iphones – 2 ,3gs and 1 iphone 4 and 1 ipad in my household !

Absolutely love the idea of blending sauv blanc and chenin. I have been known to blend insipid white wines with some ripe South african Chenin for partys . Always a big hit !!

Show idea for Gary – – Time for a boxed wine show with all the new wines showing up in boxes – grand veneur from the rhone, From the Tank from the rhone , and MAN from South Africa, for example. Lots more higher quality wines in box or tetra appearing around Boston.

I’ve got an iphone–I’m hoping that with people jumping ship to verizon that Att&t’s service to current clients will improve…
Last summer I went to S. Africa and spent 1 day in Stellenbosch for wine tasting. That was my first real wine tasting experience so i was a little overwhelmed and my palate wasn’t quite ready for a day of wine tasting, although I did enjoy a couple local wines that I cannot honestly remember their names now. the brandy i didn’t like at all.

Another good show – the Chinon sounds right up my alley as I prefer reds on the lighter side…

    QOTD: Yes and yes.

  • QotD: No, I do not own an iPhone or iPad. I don’t own any smartphone. I don’t even have a cell phone plan. I’ve got a crappy T-Mobile pre-paid phone account. Why? Because I can’t afford a real phone and real plan. Why? Because…

QotD2: I’m not even a CKC, I’m a GSC (Graduate Student Crew). I’m pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing at The University of Alabama’s tremendous program. My funds are pretty limited.

  • that’s the best part Castello. Gary’s totally serious on gossip girl

  • QOTD: If you must know, I don’t. I have an android phone.

I have been really meaning to try more from South Africa but I always forget!
I’ve definitely noticed your energy! The shows from about a month or so ago were not as good but the newer episodes have been a lot better! GREAT STUFF!

  • Is this the 1st alternate intro in history today – played at the very end?

zippo on both ipad and iphone….but may roll on them now that Verizon on board.

I thought I got a shout out there for a second until I heard “Atlanta.” Apperently there’s another John__J out there. John__J if you could comment on this episode or if anyone else could comment and confirm there’s another John__J, that would be great. Cuz I don’t recall ever seeing another John__J on the show in the 950+ episodes I’ve seen, and forgive me for not remembering you.
I’m from Baltimore and have always listed myself as such.

    Anyway, Qotd: nope

Good episode, I can never get enough of Loire Valley wines.
I love Uruguay too, although just like anywhere else, there’s definitely wines there that aren’t that good either.
I really like their dry tannat’s and have a had a tannat dessert wine from there-Vinedos de los Vientos “Alycone”, that is just screaming chocolate on the nose. It’s like Banyuls on steroids.
I’ve also had a delicious marselan from there (that cabernet/grenache cross) that was loaded with blue fruits and really juicy but with a enough acidity to bring great balance. A great wine for its price that’s drinking well right away

Funny at the end to add a few retakes.

  • John__J

Oh yeah that “hidden track” at the end was great. I’d have no problem if you had more of those

    Sorry, no iphone, no ipad.

Although I did pick up an interesting madiran today It appears to be a 98% tannat, 2% cab franc
