    GV:

This didn’t suck. (And… well… don’t be too hard on yourself. The last episode DID suck. But, you’ve made up for it.) We (my wife, Louisa and I) are watching while drinking “The Crossing” Sauvignon Blanc. It’s an unbelievable deal at roughly 9 smackers. Tonight we’re drinking 2009 Beaujolais Villages. It’s kicking so much ass right now. 2009 Morgons for instance are QPR-AMAZING!

Valentine’s Day wine started with my Red Romance cherry wine, then on to Joh Jos Prum Riesling Kabinett and ended with a 07 Pulenta Estate Malbec…

Good interesting show Gary, will have to try one of these. QOTD: My last 2002 Cafaro Cab with my wife (maybe her all time favorite Cali Cab).

  • First time, long time. LOVING the Campania love over the last few weeks! Very interested in a seeing a heavyweight battle of Campania (Galardi, Montevetrano). Am also dying to see an episode on the Etna DOC (nerello mascalese wines). I don’t care how short the Aglianico episode was, just glad you did it!

  • QOTD: Wish I was have sparklers with my West Coast honeys. 🙂

  • QOTD: Nothing. Wife is pregnant and am supporting her by not drinking either.

  • ALLAN

    This felt a little rushed G :))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Not everything The Beatles ever did was awesome, right? The 984 wasn’t THAT bad! 🙂

Great show G! I sure hope people listen.

Qotd: Goat Roti by myself (watching Batman Reruns) 🙂

    Cheers Everybody!

Way to bounce back, GV! Quality show, great wines, and awesome producers (I dream about Feudi di San Gregorio’s Serpico et al.) I’ve actually had both of these and you hit them right on the button!

QOTD: Girl is in DC, so I’m drinking Dhesa la Granja’s Tempranillo 2002 from their vineyard in Castilla y Leon as soon as my contracts class is over.

  • glad to see the wristband back.. never tried or heard of this one, looking to try.

QOTD: tried the penner ash voigner yesterday with my wife and loved it. great rec, thanks!

  • MattB

Gary – great show – you’re back – Living the dream! The Benito Ferrara Greco Di Tufo captured my attention and I am going to track some down. Thank you

QOTD – tonight is the first Valentines Day I have been home for about 10 years so a little Dom Ruinart 1993 Blanc de Blanc Champagne is the planned bottle of the night. YUM!

QOTD: A glass of milk with dinner all alone, working early tomorrow.

Great show. I agree with NY Pete.

Very good show, I dare say you have mostly made up for the last episode! You brought thunder with a relatively obscure varietal (it was obscure to me, anyway) good little history/background, let us know where it falls on the “spectrum” of whites; nicely done.

QOTD: Don’t know yet (still not off work quite yet on the West Coast). I hear the sanctification or the supplication calling my name from my fridge at home (Russian River Brewery, Santa Rosa, CA). For those of you who are not familiar these both (and most everything else RRB makes) are phenomenal beers, I highly recommend seeking them out if you have local access to them.

Nice show Gary. Way to come back and you really brought it at the end! Thanks!!!!! I really do appreciate you introducing me yet again to another varietal I have never heard of.

BUT! As I have always said; “Never Apologize, It’s A Sign of Weakness”! 😀

  • MattB

Sorry – I forgot to say with my beautiful wife! Cheers 🙂

  • No more having to search for a revised format. You nailed it with this one. It’s perfect.

QOTD: Not sure yet, it will be a game time decision.

  • Anonymous

Well hell, you’ll be lucky to get 100 comments with that content. Just refuse to learn don’t you? 😉

QOTD: 2005 Steve Hoff Aussie Cab. Ain’t sharing with nobody 🙂

  • That is a killer wine! Nice.

  • steve

QOTD: A muscato d’asti with my wife, we will see how it turns out.

More importantly GV, you are crazy if you think Mark Sanchez is better looking than TB, complete homer pick.

  • NY Pete

    2008 Coleman Nicole PN

Where is your heel Gary? And by the way, nice striped socks with the tennis shoes! 😛

  • Gary V. Way to bring the thunder back in a big way. I felt like I was watching a show from the 250-300s era. (You’re like Seinfeld and we can reference the best years (1994). I have not had this wine, but now I know: where it is on the boot, that it sits between Chard and SB, has the effervescence of an Albarino but the white fruit components of Viognier. Your, Sir, are awesome.

Tonight will be a white wine from Fruili paired with a halibut I am doing with mango, pineapple, ginger and red bell pepper. All with my honey; wife of 10 years.

Way to bounce back after getting knocked down.

  • Jay

this episode was much better…more vintage wltv.
QOTD: single and no drinking tonight…gotta hustle in the work place!

  • Anonymous

QOTD: I had a glass of Castle Rock Central Coast Pinot Noir with my mum because I’m single and she’s ill.

Good show, we’ve got a Greco in the wine shop but I’ve never tried it, no I will.

QOTD — Sarnac diet root beer, alone. But the wife will be here in three weeks!

  • Anonymous

Great show. Wrote down the wines in my “wines to buy” book. Don’t feel bad about the large number of comments from the last episode–remember, there are loads of us out there that rarely comment on the good shows. But you will hear it when there’s a clunker in the bunch. Keep up the good work.

  • NJ Big Chris

    Don’t apologize. Family comes first.
    great episode.
QOTD: Firriato Etna Rosso w/ Margherita Pie.

  • Randall

What I think they’re REALLY saying is, “Don’t forget to call Randall. We know he Loves us..”

  • WOOO, within 50.

Done, okay, great episode. You really brought the thunder.

QOTD: I think I am going to get a bottle of Gloria Ferrer. I love her Sonoma Brut. I am gonna drink that with this girl I’ve been seeing. We were together, no we aren’t but we still like to hang out. It’s good. I can’t wait for some tasty bubbles.

  • Anonymous

You knew we were going, if I was in any condition to remember anyone (or their names) I could have bought some deliciousness for said people.

  • Acid for dayssss!

  • Anonymous

Qotd: started with grocery store pinot. ’08 Acacia carneros. meh. So popped an ’07 Loring clos de pepe….much much better.

On another note, the mailer came today for Loring. Would like to buy but $45 a pop I feel is still a little steep for his wine. I’d like to see it ~$10-15 less.

  • I agree, gotta love the striped socks. These are my favourites, if you’re looking for socks to brighten a gloomy February. http://www.happysocks.com/ca/
