Line of the day – ‘I start making kangaroo references that piss off Australia.’

Always love these on location episodes although could’ve done with Mott at the beginning when the light wasn’t right, GV looked like he was in a shadow.

    QOTD (again): “if you’re a lamb player…”

  • CONGRATULATIONS GARY!!! I’m not one of those that have seen every episode, but I have to say that you have gotten me to be a bigger and more appreciative wine drinker, and over the time I’ve known of you you’ve inspired me in so many ways. I’m happy to have met you and I’ll be around for a long time. Thanks Gary!

QOTD: Episode 127, your birthday, 2006, White Zinfandel. Hilarious. “You can drink an entire bottle of this in 3.9 seconds…” HA.

As it is every year, we share a birthday. WLTV and ME!
Enjoying the show as much as ever Gary. You know, most of the time.

Congratulations Gary you along with this show have fanned the flame that is my passion for wine. Five years is a huge accomplishment I know you’ll celebrate it well. Best wishes to you and your family. Stay humble, stay hungry, but most of all stay another five years because hey we’re gonna need tasting notes on the 2016 Bordeaux vintage. =)

QOTD: I love learning about wine so Kermit Lynch show was huge, Raj the somm was awesome, but Mott sitting in your chair with the Don P and saying link it up Vaynerchuk in a Giants sweatshirt………….Amazing!

  • Congratulations Gary on your 5 year! Virginia Tech John Boy’s Wine Class celebrates with you: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v252/HlySd/JohnBoyerWineClass3.jpg

QOTD: How can I name an episode? You got me appreciating the bouquet, and I love when you throw the cork! You have a great personality and passion for your love for wine. Gary V changing the wine world at Tech!

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!
    QOTD: Can’t do just one.
    1. Episode #820 the four year anniversary. Sasha tells the dude who told you that you were a joke (very early in history of show who didn’t like you going bombastic and over the top. guy said he wasn’t going to watch him anymore and Gary was going to fail) to go sit on it. Well, not exactly he tells the guy, “Guess what, you were wrong.”He says that he believed in you before you even came to the shop. To sweet and affectionate! Love the chemistry you have with your dad.
    2. Episode #884 Gary “You smell it? It just smells dark!” Mott, “Oh yeah, yes it does.” Gary, “Right? It’s like smelling Batman! Raises nose in air and sniffs/breathes in deeply. That one is Priceless.
    3. Can’t forget about the sticky episode that’s always on the right side of the screen palate training episode #148.

Thank you so much Gary for bringing us the thunder for so long. YOU ARE DA MAN. that was a period at the end of YOU ARE DA MAN in case you missed it. 🙂

  • Love it Gary! Congratulations on 5 years from all of us at John Boyer’s Geography of Wine class at Virginia Tech!

I’m gonna go with 814, Bordeaux in Snaux, which is when I first got into the show. Something whimsical about it that grabbed me and sunk its teeth in.

  • There is no doubt about the best moment of WLTV: Episode #318, Minute 6, were you dumb the overoaked Chardonnay from NZ on the table and get pissed about this category of wine compared this to white burgundy.

Thanks for the great content and entertainment your delivered through the years! I really watched _every _episode! I can’t believe this! Cheers from Germany my friend, Nico

  • Congrats Gary! Great work and I hope you are around for another 5. I must admit that one of the highlights was the episode (#148) on how to train your palate. Knowledge and comedy all rolled into one…

It was a contest so I don’t thnk it would be in an episode.

I…am…ECSTATIC about your five year anniversary!! I remember when I first stumbled upon this show (about 70 episodes after conception), watched it, and immediately backtracked to episode #1 to catch up. I’ve watched every single episode since, and commented on every episode after I started watching religiously. I’ve enjoyed all of the free content, including witnessing the changing of your “pal’s” preference back and forth between vegetal/earthy old world, to extracted new world wines, and back again, because I simultaneously went through similar transitions! I’ve sent sincere birthday emails to Sasha and Lizzy, as well as to your sister. I’ve loved the ride, and I’m glad it isn’t over just yet.

HOWEVER, my favorite memory isn’t listed above. It isn’t the amazing opportunity you afforded me when I got to sort the fruit from Carrefour vineyard for the ’07 Vayniac Cab., or even when I met you for the first time at Crushpad in SF for the first Vayniac Cab barrel tasting, NOR was it when we met up with other Vayniacs at a local wine bar after Crushpad to enjoy a glass of vino.
My #1 Vayniac moment was months after that when you coincidentally came into Tasca (the wine bar in LA where I worked at the time) when you sat down I looked at you in disbelief and, to my surprise, you pointed at me and said “Hey, Dave.” You remembered me from this comments section and from our brief meeting in SF. That solidified my belief in your passion for this outlet and your commitment to your viewers. Recommending list items and serving you and your party that night was more fulfilling and exciting than any of the many lame celebrity serving experiences that I’ve had here in LA. (Catching up with you at an LA “Crush It” book tour stop wasn’t so bad either.)
SO, congrats, be well always, Godspeed, and above all THANK YOU, SIR. CHEERS!

  • Happy Bithday WLTV!!!
Thanks Gary for what you brought in these years and I’m sure for many years to come…
You can’t leave us alone, not everyone has expanded his palate and still needs your help!

QOTD: many moments come to mind, but the unforgettable ones are still to come, I still have to meet you personally!
Don’t forget to try to become internationally, I think the vayniac community is still growing up a lot and from all over the world, thus I’m sure many of us would like to taste your wines and wear your t-shirts and wristbands…
    I’m one of them

Thanks again and keep going this way mate

  • Nick

Congrats on your 5y anni of WLTV.

QOTD: Don’t have a favorite episode. What stays with me most is all the all-nighters i’ve already pulled to catch up every episode by region/country through the archive

keep up the great job you do

  • I’m extremely impressed with the endurance and tenacity to keep this up for 5 years. Not many things last this long. Somehow one must reward that, I don’t know how yet.
I think we drink all wines to early. I try to cellar every one I buy 2 years minimum regardless of varietal.
Love the show and will keep on looking and sometimes learning. have a nice anniversary Gary and push on to 1000 next!

Ohh yes, the palate episode is also one of my favorites.

    QOTD: Challenging preconceptions about wine.

  • Charlotte K. Jensen

Me too. Yesterday, I burst out loud (by my self) when I checked: “damit” cause I was so disappointed that there wasn’t a new episode for yesterday. We are spoiled by Gary 🙂

  • Charlotte K. Jensen

    Janic Robinson is EPIC.

  • Charlotte K. Jensen

Good choices. Among my favorites as well.

I discovered WLTV over 3 years ago. I haven’t been here for 5 but I’ve commented and watched every show for over 3 years. And I’ve had a wine job for over 2 years now. Happy Anniversary.

QOTD: I’ve enjoyed Spanish wines since my early wine discovery days and I thoroughly enjoyed the Jorge Ordonez episode. But I don’t think I have a true favorite WLTV moment. My favorite part overall is that I continue to expand my palate.

    QOTD

  • Anonymous

I am so relieved to know that you’re not throwing in the towel just yet! You are such a bright part of my day and I’m sure the same is true for countless other Vayniaks out there.

QOTD: As much as I love the show and your efforts to expand palettes everywhere, my favorite moments have been the 1 or 2 personal emails I have received from you and the dialog that occasionally happens between the members here. I can’t imagine how busy you are or when you have time to sleep, but the fact that you truly care about this community is what touches me the most. Thanks for everything and congratulations!

  • Tom B

Enjoyed seeing behind the scenes and how they repackage wines for the samplers.

QOTD: Loved the moment in the Oklahoma episode when you were floored by the wine made by college students. Although the rest of the wines were disappointing, your overall reaction to that one specific wine was awesome.

  • Anonymous

QOTD: In one episode you dumped a bunch of coins into the voga pinot grigio to see if it made it better but it didn’t and scored it 48 points or something. That was so funny. 😉

AWESOME 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY SHOW!! TR packs are a must buy for expanding palates, I would definitely buy them, if they shipped to Brazil.

Gary, I have to thank you a lot for this 5 years of your life doing this amazing job of preaching wine around the world, for me It?s almost unbelievable we are already on the 5th year, I?ve been watching for more than 4 years now, It passed like a blink, as good things always do. I hope this journey has been as good to you as has been for all of us around the world!! Thank you very much!!

QOTD: That?s the toughest QOTD of all time! There are so many great moments: Sasha appearances on the show, the Laid Back Couch w/ Cheese and Angelus, the Harry Karis Shows, Misha?s appearance, and most of all, the episode 601 with Ian, (@25 min) you gave me a shout-out for my B-DAY .

Best wishes for you, your Dad, Lizzie, Misha and Mr. Mott & the WL Crew.

    Mauricio Fernandes.
    Your #1 Brazilian Fan!

  • A_S

Congratulations Gary! 5 years and still an awesome show
    Keep bringing the thunder!!!

QOTD: That’s like asking me, “what wine do you like?”
I can’t mention all those moments.
I can mention one of the recent episodes that I like very very much

The last time your dad was on the show and you both had Napa cabs. Classic!

Thank you for all the time you spent making WLTV, so that we can spend time enjoying it

Hi Gary, congrats ! I still really enjoy the show. You are an inspiration,so much so that I started my own online winetasting show targeted on the Dutch market. Today I taped my 50th show and it is going great. My favorite moments ? pfooe ! I guess the show were you tasted a Fitou, that I had a couple of days before or the Terredora Aglianico that I tasted a year before, that rocked my world. To see you enjoy it too was great.
Love and to 5 more years !

BTW: My birthday is also WLTV’s anniversary!
    QOTD: Nicolas Joly

  • Grats on five years Gary!! Hard to pick a favorite episode…but I have really enjoyed some of the recent formats. Really enjoy any episode that expands my knowledge base. Keep it going!

Happy Birthday Michael C in MKE! 😉

Cool to see I’m not the only one you inspired to start a videoblog on wine, Like seb10, I started my own thing albeit for the Quebec market in Canada. Haven’t started promoting it yet because it’s not fully ready but I already have a couple episodes, and Crush it!, the book will definitely help me with that.

Anyways, the moment has to be the first show I saw with Sasha, I got on to WLTV only a couple months ago when I was doing market research for my own show, so I heard about your dad before seeing him and when I saw a show with him, that was my best moment.

Otherwise I guess the first show that started it all, you were not as good as you are now but its THE moment that started this movement for us Vayniacs.

    Happy Birthday aaroncello! 😉

  • Thanks for 5 years man, kind of a lurker, but have probably left 2 comments in the 800 episodes or so I’ve watched.
QOTD: Funny was the 2 buck Chuck ep; “this taste like a gi joe that you played with in your underpants”. On a serious note, Jancis Robinson episode was fantastic.

  • Thanks for the link ! Been looking for it quite some time !
