EP 1000 Episode 1,000

Gary Vaynerchuk has finally made it to episode 1,000 of Wine Library TV! It’s been an amazing ride since that day in February 2006, with great guests, amazing (and sometimes awful) wines, as well as a lot of Jets talk. Today, the main focus is a huge thank you to all the Vayniacs who helped make this community…and a huge announcement from Gary.

Wines tasted in this episode:

2008 Jerome Prevost La Closerie Les Beguines BrutFrench Brut Vintage

  • I try . . . at least now and then. 😉

  • Ohmigosh yes, though I have never met her. Gorgeous, loves wine, seems to be a sweetheart of a person, what more can anyone not adore? 😉

I wish I could have shared the ’86. Kinda sad to have enjoyed alone though someone had to do it so why not me?

    Cheers to All Vayniacs!

Look who popped in, Hey Mott!

  • Anonymous

Nice to see a familiar face! Always enjoy the mischievous face of bender staring back at me!

  • Anonymous

My ass is not for giving, thank you very much!

I tried to resist, but I can’t help it. SO MUCH FOR THE “DAILY” GRAPE. AGAIN! No doubt he is a busy man. We must give credit were credit is due. That being said, come on GV; it’s in the name this time!

  • I got a a 08 Beringer private reserve Chard in my stash …

  • I imagine seeing her on one of the DG episodes, but it could have been my imagination. Allan have dropped from the face of the world, even from facebook which is a feat in it self 🙂

  • We would appreciate a review once that bad boy is opened.

My adventure yesterday to my local wine shop did not reap any ’08 Beringer Reserve cab recommended by tennispro. Time to hit the megastore in VA or go online to find it.

  • NWID gets a shoutout on DG today! 😉

  • will do when times come

  • Mott, when is your 50 th?

  • Goldfainr

good run Gary! Congrat’s on making it to 1000 episodes! See you at Daily Grape!

    Russ

  • Mott

That day was canceled from the calendar this year.

  • hehe, I think me remember that you was born in 1961 (mentioned on an episode long time ago) and strangely enough I think it is 1 of sep, but I might be wrong.

  • wher’s you at dude?

  • NY Pete

QOTD … is the Daily Grape daily?

  • Mott

1961 is correct. September is wrong. The answer is somewhere in the 1000 episodes. Good luck.

  • Homey don’t think so unless he gets it posted by midnight counts as “daily.”

  • Jvigil8

I Must have miss communicated ….. Sorry …. An everyday drinking wine is the Beringer knights valley Cab -2008. It’s not a special bottle of wine, but rather a decent drinking cab. It’s $21 bucks and you should be able to find it locally 😉

The lights are flickering over here Mott. Why don’t you pull k murph from the WL floor (or where ever she may be) and do a 3 bottle blind tasting. Instead of k murph pulling the bottles to taste, you pull them 😉 … GV will never know he’s busy with DG 😉

    TTF … BV Tapestry 2007 …. I got it at 90-91…. what’s your score???

  • Anonymous

Who really thought DG would be daily ??? Looking forward to GV response to this lapse in posting DG …

  • well, I’ll keep watching 🙂 But since I’m a 61 too I thought I’ll buy you a wine from WL, but I guess that’s not certain anymore 😀

  • No problem. I was going to question that based on being “Reserve” which usually goes for bigger bucks but it’s been some time since I have purchased any Beringer, esp since Constellation (I believe) bought them.

I have an old Reserve downstairs that I should check out but will definitely see the Knights Valley.

Thanks for coming back to clarify. Appreciated.

  • There’s a helluva an idea tennispro. Yeah, Mott, let’s do it! Pleaaaasssse. It would be sooo cool.

Haven’t had any BV in a long time. If I see it this weekend, I will buy it and the members of the TTF will do their own “Taste Test Findings.”

Did I mention I’m having a glass of the ’86 Dom right now? Read it and weep. This is amazing stuff though again, need someone to share this fine nectar of the Gods but that’s another story.

I raise my big ass Reidel glass of ’86 Dom to the TTF!

    Cheers!

  • A very noble gesture AndersN. If possible I would like to go in on the purchase with you to show my appreciation to Mott for all these magnificent years. I’m sure Brandon or Ian can accommodate our request?

If you come back on Mott, tell us your favorite wine. If by chance I have it on hand, I could ship it to you.

  • Finishing off the ’86 with a grilled, thick Porterhouse steak with some salt, lots of cracked pepper and a dash of sugar for caramelization. Since the steak wasn’t taking very long to cook, I whipped up my fresh creamed spinach recipe. Not bad for a rookie.

  • Mott

A generous gesture by the 2 of you and I thank you but it’s entirely unnecessary.

  • Green Pea

Hey “Thunder alert” try the Montgras Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva. I found it for under 9 bucks and it was amazing. It’s a 2009 from Chile and I dare you to find a better CAB for under 10.

  • John__J

    Qotd: more Daily than WLTV

  • rwino

Still missing WLTV……… Guys try the 2007 Muga Reserva, great juice!

  • to young 🙂

  • well, considering the answer below and me usually being a calm and nice person, I may hear Mott’s request. But then I turning 50 and celebrating that with a world aorund trip and not getting WL to fit in the route and Mott also hit the big 50 I thought I’ll be generous and buy the man behind the camera a nice bottle of a sweeter wine or a 07 CdP

  • Yes, but just to celebrate your 50 th? I think you like the sweeter stuff, could I get you the Port in ep 896?

  • Understand your logic AndersN so we will both go our separate routes in celebration for Mott’s birthday.

Mott: Would this suffice? I remember you being a fan of Tokay if I recall.

I have yet to check and see if WL carries it.

  • Agreed on missing WLTV, but not on the Muga Reserva.

  • John__J

I’m really surprised this episode hasn’t hit 1000 comments yet

Who likes the new music on DG ??? That it was kinda corny ……. Still not feeling that great vibe if WLTV. Seems like GV is trying really hard to bring the thunder with so little time to work with. “Don’t force the shot GV” Just saying ……

  • Anonymous

Well, when it’s only a handful of Vayniacs commenting, we better pick up the pace! 🙂

  • Anonymous

It is hard to get it out of your system. 🙁

  • Anonymous

I’ll look for it. I seem to be in the Chile isle every so often. 🙂

  • Anonymous

I also knew he couldn’t keep that pace up! 🙂

  • Anonymous

    I broke my cherry! 😛

    Right On Cr5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Right On!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Music on DG is lame. OF course, if that was DG’s biggest problem, I might rate the new venture 90+ instead of mid-80s. What do you folks think? IMO, the content of DG has improved in the first 15 eps… less rushed now. But the random pairs of wines that often show up don’t do it for me. Much better when there’s some common thread between the wines on a given show and time to compare/contrast and explore. Though better than its earliest shows, to me DG is still coming across as a somewhat watered-down, more ‘monetized’ version of WLTV.
To quote a Bob Seger song…
    “Felt the lightning
And we waited on the thunder”
DG’s still “Trying to lose the awkward teenage blues”

  • NY Pete

at this time I would like to quote Kahuna, or Special K as the Vaynermeister would call him …

Gary quit on us and is a fink – I hope he chokes on his daily grape.

  • NYPete

wtf happened to my avatar …

Great Masters showdown today !!!! Talk about some great shot making by so many….. Time to make the course harder, 14 under is to low for the Masters I know.

    Wines drank this weekend …..

    Stewart 2006 – 90- 91 points – Napa Cab
Louis Martini 2007 89-90 points – Napa Cab
    Caymus 2008 90-92 points – Napa Cab
Tunuta di Trinoro 2005 93-94 Italian Super Tuscan

Butternut 2008 89-90 points Sonoma Chard
Dutton Ranch 2007 90-91 points Russian River Chard

What’s your score on these wines, if you’ve had them ????

  • It has changed for sure. Maybe “old school” Devils logo?

  • john__j

Agreed, I commented on the music over on the grape comments. Reminds me of a job training video soundtrack from the 80’s, or an infomercial from the 80’s or something
