EP 1000 Episode 1,000

Gary Vaynerchuk has finally made it to episode 1,000 of Wine Library TV! It’s been an amazing ride since that day in February 2006, with great guests, amazing (and sometimes awful) wines, as well as a lot of Jets talk. Today, the main focus is a huge thank you to all the Vayniacs who helped make this community…and a huge announcement from Gary.

Wines tasted in this episode:

2008 Jerome Prevost La Closerie Les Beguines BrutFrench Brut Vintage

Nice Dominus! Did you dump the Round One? Rated 69, I would have! TTF!

I will rate my bottle a little later, letting it breath right now, but the whiffs I am getting are wonderful.

    Nostrovia!

  • What are you drinking, Dan?

  • Well done! So much fun to read. Love those sniffy-sniffs! I may have to find the viognier. Dominus, you could give GV a run for his money. Start your own show, etc.

On another note, I’ve had a craving for roast chicken since you first mentioned a few days ago! So i just had roasted rosemary-lemon chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans paired with this lovely wine:
07 Domaine Lafond Ferme Romaine, Lirac: 65% grenache, 35% syrah and Mourvedre. Nice bouquet of fruit and spice.. Plush, med-full bodied.. pepper, light oak, nice fruit and tannins A baby CdP (and I love CdP!!!) $19

The French are good at so many things, aren’t they?

  • Thanks so much, VanF. I appreciated it! Will definitely look for this iwine.

  • Agree.. PPP? What is the point?

Music is what it is… not a big deal. Could be better I agree.. I must say, however, that the shows are much better now than the first 10. I still like it better over here. 🙂 TTF.

Jon Troutman is Director of Operations. Other than that, I have no clue, except that he seems like a nice chap.

  • I bet it’s wonderful!

  • John__J

Oh wow Ruche. Never had one of those, I’m jealous

  • John__J

I’ve had that same Lirac, they also do a blanc which is good too

  • John__J

Yeah that opening music on DG sounds like the soundtrack to a job training video from the ’80’s or something.

  • John__J

I’ve been slacking over at DG myself

  • John__J

I just had the 02 Spottswoode last night. First time I’ve ever had one, what a great wine

  • Really??? I love this wine.. I love it now more than I did an hour ago. Thanks, John J.

  • Holy Easter. Now I’m jealous and concerned about amount of wine consumed at the D household :). Very nice reviews Sir. Those Rhone grapes of Vigonier, Rousanne and Marsanne is the baaaamb for nice noses. Sitting down and waitning for the Morgon 09 review.

  • Hey Allan is gone so someone have to step up 🙂

  • Wow so this is where the cool kids hang out. 😉 Was going to make banana bread. Missing eggs. Oh well, tomorrow it is. 🙂

  • The French are very good at so many things for sure, especially winemaking.

Your meal must have been absolutely scrumptious and the CdP must have been a perfect pairing. You go girl! Very nice.

I’m off now to watch my Caps eliminate the Rangers and will be having this as I watch.

    Go Caps!

P.s. Tonight the Morgon will be uncorked. 😉

  • Oh yes! Life is too short to be drinking bad wine. 🙂

  • Lucky man, very, very lucky. I have yet to be thrilled. One day, I promise.

I visit winebid.com every couple days to see if there’s any available but alas, not yet. 🙁

2007 Titus Petite Sirah Tasting Notes:

The color is a dark ink and pleasing to the eye and the legs on this wine are very long and voluptuous, it coats the glass very well.

The nose is heavy on the dark fruit, blackberries, blueberries, there is some vanilla, pepper spice and some alcohol comes though also. Very nice, I could sniffy sniff this for a good long while.

Lets give it a Whirl: The taste is wonderful, a good long mouth feel. Well structured with those dark fruits coming out, currants, blackberry, and some plum. The taste lasts a good long time and the tannins are in check but I love the way they feel with this wine. I totally recommend this wine. This is right in my wheelhouse! http://www.titusvineyards.com/product/2007-Titus-Napa-Valley-Petite-Sirah

    I will rate this a 92. Exceptional! 😉
    Nostrovia!

  • John__J

I have to try to come up with a pairing for dinner tomorrow. What’s a good wine to go with rabbit stew?

  • Ooooh yummy, nice review my man. Pair it with something delish?

I need to procur some of this.

    Caps Win!!!!!

Goin’ fishin’ tomorrow. 80s and sunny here in the Land of Pleasant Living

    Cheers!

I will seek it out and try …. Thanks.

  • You’re cooking the Easter bunny?

  • Excellent review, Dan!

  • Melba!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Melba, I am so glad you’re here! 🙂

  • Thx, Dom. So how was the Soter?? Stephen Tanzer gave it a good score (I like his palate).

  • John__J

actually no, I just have an odd sense of humor I guess.

Can I recommend anything from the Running Hare Vineyard? Should pair well with your Rabbit Stew. 😛 Either the Jack Rabbit Red or the Jack Rabbit White should do fine. Dominus, this is right in your neck of the woods! 🙂

    Nostrovia! Happy Easter!

  • Anonymous

Hey Dominus, Ray is trying to get into the site here, but like some others have been shut out for some reason. I’ve heard that Cellarrat5 has been trying also. 🙁
Ray says Hi and wishes everyone a Happy Easter.

  • Anonymous

It was almost hitting 70 today here and was a beautiful day. Have a great time fishing and please share a little bit with us when you come back with a whopper. 😉

  • John__J

    Happy Easter!

Yeah Dancing Hares, I just got on their mailing list now that I can finally start having wine shipped to my state.

  • Go ‘Hawks!

  • Really? Tell them I said “Hi and Happy Easter.”

The big one got away. Really. I was reeling in a 32″ 15lb striped bass (rockfish) and the young gentleman who was “Manning” 🙂 the net did not do it correctly and he got away. No one spoke for 30 mins. Heartbreaking. That was it for the day. 🙁

No grilled rockfish for me this week paired with a nice wine TBD.

Back to watch the games. Phil vs Buff and Hawks vs Canucks.

    Cheers

P.S. Has WLTV become “By Appointment Only”? Interesting.

  • Where’s Ray? He better be able to log on soon.

I knew there were many reasons I like Cubatobaco Ray but especially after seeing his response to the QOTD as to what and when did you open a bottle of Champagne? Eric Z says 1993 Veuve Cliquot La Grande Dame on election night, 2008. Ray replies, “Not a whole lot to celebrate…lol” My man! 🙂 Ask them if they can afford that same bottle of Champagne now than 2008? No need to get political Dom. 🙂

  • Should we close shop here at 1000 comments to coincide with Episode 1000 until we see #1001? Just a thought.

  • Anonymous

Appropriate. You shouid get 1000… for keeping the momentum!

  • I thought that Mott’s off-screen presence gave GV a mini audience that he played off of better than what we see when GV’s alone in a hotel room playing off himself… umm, that didn’t come out sounding exactly right.

  • Anonymous

I hope you watched the game. Went to Overtime and the boys pulled out to force game 7 in Vancouver on Tuesday. Great Game, Great Outcome! 🙂

  • Anonymous

You know if we wait till 1001 that might be a very long time and I don’t know if I want to wait that long to talk to you guys! That is unless your back over a DG?

  • Anonymous

He is still having problems getting on over here. 🙁

  • That’s odd.. Is he using Firefox? It works better than Internet Explorer for me.
