EP 1000 Episode 1,000

Gary Vaynerchuk has finally made it to episode 1,000 of Wine Library TV! It’s been an amazing ride since that day in February 2006, with great guests, amazing (and sometimes awful) wines, as well as a lot of Jets talk. Today, the main focus is a huge thank you to all the Vayniacs who helped make this community…and a huge announcement from Gary.

Wines tasted in this episode:

2008 Jerome Prevost La Closerie Les Beguines BrutFrench Brut Vintage

  • Ahhh Lisa, glad you found it and let me know what you think. If you don’t like it, tell it like it is. Just curious to see what someone I feel who has a “worthy palate” thinks of it.

Yes, yes, bubbles are good. I’ll celebrate anything when it comes to Champagne. I will check to see if I have any downstairs in my stash. If I don’t, well, I will procur some! What a novel idea!

    Cheers!

  • Tennispro: Wonderful! Well, we could try this, since Dom mentioned Pommery:
    http://www.klwines.com/detail.asp?sku=991533
    or this: http://www.klwines.com/detail.asp?sku=1023646,
or I will open a bottle that I already have on hand:

I guess I’m one of the “anyone else”. I have a bottle of Chandon Blanc de Noirs chillin and I guess this “anyone else” could pop it on Friday.

  • Anonymous

I also had that problem awhile ago and as Lisa noted, I made the switch to Firefox and haven’t had a blip here at WLTV.

  • Ha! You’re so much more than that, Dan! I didn’t want to put you on the spot by calling you out.. Was hoping you’d join us! Chandon is fine, or wait for final consensus (sp).

  • Great! Maybe you could let us know what you’re drinking.. some may want to have what your having.

Thx..Will let you know about zin. Still have Cloudy Bay in the fridge, too. Was Hippolyte Sancerre OK, or not? You can tell me. I can take it. 😉

  • Sensitive Dan? 😉

Got your “Like” and “Edit” buttons “over there” yet?

    Cheers!

  • Nice label of the one you already have on hand. Wow, elegant, femine, reminds me of you.

    🙂

  • It must have been something I said?

  • Agree. I have never had any issues with FF over here or anywhere for that matter.

  • You always know just what to say. Merci beaucoup. I had it at a champagne event last fall and liked it. xo

  • I think we should go Pommery though I’m easy and will go along with any other options.

    Cheers!

  • It was fabulous Lisa. Great choice, I love it, my style. I went back and bought some more and had a glass tonight as a matter of fact.

    Reallly good stuff.

Thanks for the recommendation my dear, thank you

    Cheers!

I just have that inferiority complex going on, ya know? 😛 Yeah right, me? I don’t think so!

No, on the “Like” and “Edit” buttons or anything else. These are the standard answers we get, “We’re work’n on it”, “Have more important things we are working on right now, but we will get to it when we can”. The shows will settle down as soon as GV is done with the book tour and all his galavanting around the world. He is definitely much better in his element, the Lib! 😛

I’ll try looking for the “Pommery” tomorrow. 😉

    Nostrovia! TTF

  • I don’t think so either. You da man!

Settle down, yeah, yeah, ain’t happenin’ but do agree he was much better over here but then again, I’m a tad partial and biased. Rightfully so I might add.

Off to bed. The Habs and Bruins are in OT. Just hope I wake up to a Canadian victory. I want the Caps to spank them like a newborn.

    G’night all (especially Lisa) 🙂

  • John__J

looks like it’s working for me, now that I forget what I was going to say

  • I will too. If you can get the Apanage, get that one.

  • Those buttons, the Android app, and so many other things are coming “soon” …and the check is in the mail, too. No, really it is.
I’m waiting for NWID to make a stand and remove his picture from his DG profile and hold it hostage until he gets his Edit and Like buttons.

  • Now that makes me happy. You are most welcome, D.

i’ll go get some pommery …. is there a vintage?

  • TP: I think this is it:

Pommery “Brut Apanage” Champagne. Looks like K&L has plenty in stock..

QOTD – TTF – at what point does Daily Grape no longer become daily ??? How about an airport wines episode ? Quick 5 minute episode 😉 just keeping it real GV. You know I respect what you do!!!

DG … QOTD answer … Underdog.

  • I think Gary is in Sweden wednesday-thursday next week. Wonder if he will try anything remotely connected to that …hmm and I can’t get to stockholm due to work, grrr

  • If anyone believes it was going to be “Daily” (which baffles me why buy the named the site and advertised it as such) then I have some corked wine to sell you. “Maybe” yes, “daily” no way.

P.S. Good morning all. Looking for the Colts to draft a big, badass OT to protect my man’s blind side. 1) Castonzo 2) Solder or 3) Carimi

    Bring on the draft!

    Cheers!

  • I’m sure it’s “NV.” Blue box, rated 91 by WS so you’re getting a good one even though Dom recommends it. 😉

But, I now have a conflict for Friday night. I have a ticket to the Caps game so I won’t be able to participate and Saturday I will be here: http://www.winefestatstmichaels.com

Sunday is open? Sorry but Ovechkin calls my name and I must answer.

    Cheers!

  • If NWID shows the way in going pictureless over there, I’ll be glad to follow.

Give me buttons or give me no avatars!

  • If he had “any” cohones . . . 😉

  • Ahhhhhhh Cloudy Bay . . .

  • This is the same heavenly Chateau you mentioned a couple of pages ago, yes?? I’m bookmarking this web page. So beautiful!

France is next on my list of countries to visit. Can’t wait!!!
Oh and the Pommery website is very cool, especially the caves!

I may pick up a bottle of Pommery NV Apanage on my way home today. 🙂

  • Sunday is fine… Go to the game and winefest! Have fun! Go Caps!

Back to work… Will be a long day today and film class tonight. Will definitely miss cocktail hour. 🙁

  • Next WLTV episode is made. Interview wit prof Boyer at VT. When it aires I don’t know, but there will be a 1001.

  • Inside scoop huh? Good work.

I’m sure this has been asked a thousand times but what is the legal drinking age in VA? 21? If so, how many of these VT Grapers can actually drink a glass of wine legally?

    Just asking.

    Cheers!

  • Yes, that’s the one! Truly amazing.

I went by two wine stores on the way home and no Pommery! I could have had the usual Taittinger, Moet or Perrier-Jouet Flower (I actually like that one) but no Pommery. I’ll find it soon enough.

P.S. When you decide to go to France, I will carry your bags. No need to pay that “baggage” fee. 😉

    Au revoir!

  • Film class? How cool. I took an “Understanding Movies” in college and I had a blast. I wrote a major thesis on Psycho that was phenomenal. Of course, that was umpteen computers ago so I think it’s gone.

I’m going “low key” tonight with a burger on the grille with a recipe from CooksCountyTV. I’m pairing it with the Morgon. I bought an inexpensive Shiraz today and it was bad from the get-go so I dumped it down the drain. The Morgon should suffice.

This is where I will be pre-game with some nice tapas and Greek wines.

    http://www.zaytinya.com/

    Go Caps!

  • That’s the one.

  • The Greek restaurant menu looks wonderful (both places look great). Love Greek food! I love DC, especially Georgetown area!

    Anxious to hear about Morgon!

Yes, film class is here at Stanford Univ…Mick LaSalle, who is SF Chronicle film critic, teaches a class every quarter. We usually watch a full-length film.. Cool class and very entertaining guy. Can’t believe you wrote a thesis on Pyscho. Would love to read it!

    -Lisa

PS: I just received this email invitation from Bellagio, Las Vegas:
    http://www.bellagio.com/restaurants/epicurean-epicenter-william-selyem.aspx

Have you ever had William Selyem wines?? I hear they’re great.

  • If I can help it, you would never drink alone. 🙂

  • Wow, two wines for the CKCs and a 69 score?!?

  • QOTD: I answered this one just a few minutes ago. Since I have a degree in Accounting and Business Mgt, well, it’s none of those classes so I will say “Understanding Movies” since I’m such a flick fan.

    Cheers!

  • But he’s got cojones enough to complain every day…

OK, I went ahead and changed mine to a “protest picture” to express my solidarity with NWID over there.

Yeah it is true. It looks as if the Va Tech Prof will be the first interview, but when it will air, who knows? The Va Tech GV key note speech, GV let it out that he was doing the interview for here. Remember I said this place will blow up, well, all the ckc’s from Va Tech will be all over here when it airs.

Dominus, Tennispro, John_J, and anyone else, 😉 I went to my stores this afternoon in search of the Pommery and they were all out. The last vintage they had was the 1995 and I think he said the next one out is the 99′ which they hadn’t ordered. They had a Brut Rose and a Brut Royal. I guess I will just stick with my Chandon. Sorry guys. 🙁 When we popp’n the cork tomorrow?

I just love you answering all the QOTD’s over here from “The When Ever I Can Get to it Grape”.

I am also surprised you were very cordial with JT when he popped in here yesterday. 😉

    You’re the best Gary

  • 🙂 I almost choked on my dinner when I read this… Hilarious!

  • 🙂

  • You’re right Dan.. This place will blow up. Uh oh.

Dominus can’t find Pommery either at the moment. Drink what you like and report back by Sunday, if possible..

Signed – Your favorite “anyone else” 🙂

  • Anonymous

I can find the Pommery “Royal” at bev mo so I will try that. When I can get over to K&L I will pick up the Apanage and compare. TTF … Cheers and here’s to the wedding in just under two hours.

Drinking the 2009 Poet’s Leap Riesling from Columbia Valley for the Wedding of this Decade, at least price tag wise 😉 … 32 million for this Wedding … wow.

When I was shopping at Costco today, I did not find a Champagne that caught my eye but I did find this Riesling instead to celebrate the Wedding with. High rating (95pt) and I do love acidity.

TTF … Thoughts on the Poet’s Leap ???? I do feel that Great German Rieslings brings just a bit more thunder and cut just a little bit sharper 😉

  • Anonymous

My degree’s are in Finance & Business Mgt. ;-)’s Small world 😉

  • Unbelievable!!! I was at Costco last Saturday and bought a bottle of Poet’s Leap 2009 Riesling. Well, you know what they say about great minds… I’ve not had it before. Thx for tasting note. I am trying to stay awake (it’s midnight) but can’t do it.. I hope I wake up in time to see royal kiss.
    Thank goodness for DVR. Cheers!
