EP 1000 Episode 1,000

Gary Vaynerchuk has finally made it to episode 1,000 of Wine Library TV! It’s been an amazing ride since that day in February 2006, with great guests, amazing (and sometimes awful) wines, as well as a lot of Jets talk. Today, the main focus is a huge thank you to all the Vayniacs who helped make this community…and a huge announcement from Gary.

Wines tasted in this episode:

Lisa, you will always be my FAVORITE “Anyone Else”! πŸ˜‰

  • Wow, it is small. Love for tennis, wine, majors, women (Lisa) doesn’t get much better than that! πŸ™‚

  • Love the “Edit” button! πŸ™‚

  • No problem Dan. I couldn’t find Pommery myself at my neighborhood wine shops. I will need to go to the “big box” store in VA to find it. Though I’m going to the Caps game tonight and the St. Michael’s WineFest tomorrow I won’t be able to report back on my tasting until Sunday after two doubles matches. I will definitely need to find some good champagne after surviving 4 hours of good, competitive tennis in 80+ heat.

    Cheers to TTF!

  • Looks and sounds like everyone had a great time. When I met him at a wine dinner at a VA winery a couple years ago, there were no tickets or schwag distributed to the crowd. Of course, this was an “older” crowd which cared less about wristbands. I do but I’m a child at heart so that’s my excuse.

Of course, they would have loved SB tickets. How the heck did he get SB tickets this soon? I did not think they were even available. I guess he has connections but nevertheless, I need to get mine since it will be in Indy. It will be the first time a team hosts a SB at its home stadium. πŸ™‚

    Cheers!

  • That jacket Boyer was wearing was a “show.”

  • πŸ™‚ My Greek Goddess, I will go check out your comment below. I’m all into Greek food and loved “Zorba the Greek.” Does that count?

And yes, I’ve had Williams Selyem pinots. Orgasmic, up there and better at times than KB and Sea Smoke. The label is a bit “ehhh” but the juice is superb.

Off to check your comments below.

Too funny in that my wife’s name is Lisa. πŸ˜‰

  • If it blows up over here, yes, a major “uh oh” for me. I will be relegated to the corner of my little wine cellar with a glass of ’88 Dominus, candle flickering and playing this in the background. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Su8LXNS16A

Watch the sequence from :20 to :26 in the video. That would be me. πŸ™

Great flick by the way. Highly recommended.

    Cheers!

  • I need to renew my membership at Costco. I have heard they have great wine deals and the selection is great, bar none.

  • Yes I have heard of the infamous (kidding there) Williams Selyem pinots. They are epic. Sometimes hard to find (except in Georgetown) and expensive but who cares about that especially if it’s great juice.

You go to Stanford? Wow, talk about small world. Tomorrow I am going with the father of the goalie (last year starter, 2nd string this year) for the Stanford women’s soccer team, Kira Maker.

So let me get this straight, go to Stanford, love Georgetown, drink high-end wines, you are one “refined” lady. Mercy, getting goosebumps. πŸ˜‰

    Cheers M’ Lady!

  • Also loved your comment “over there” AndersN. Amazing how often the “gRapers” comments on how the format and inspiration is so “new” and you respond by saying it’s the “old school WLTV format!” So right you are. They get excited about it and we’ve seen it for years. πŸ™‚

  • Nice name. πŸ™‚
Seriously, you two are killing me. In a very good way! Cheers to your wife, TP!

  • It’s a small world indeed! All true except one.. let me clarify.. I work for Stanford Univ (School of Medicine) Dept of Surgery, surgical education coordinator/administrator (residency and fellowship, faculty searches, promotions etc) So as a Univ employee, I can take a couple of classes a year (usually at night).. It’s been a long time since I was in college.. I think Prince William was a toddler.. πŸ™‚

Never had Williams Selyem.. but loved how you described it! I’m sure your description was spot on. Yes, very hard to find and pricey!
    Thank you, D!

  • πŸ™‚ You’re a trip, Dominus! A good trip! Awesome video! I love this piece of music from The Piano. Unfortunately, I saw this movie when it was first released in ’92 while on a date. Yikes..What a scary date it was. ..I need to see this movie again.. The music is just beautiful! x L

  • supertrirunner

I just bought a bottle at Total Wine for $20 Bones. I’m Excited to try it!

P.S. Dominus, you don’t have to have a Costco card to buy alcohol. By law you don’t have to pay for a membership to buy alcohol!!!

  • So Lisa, the time over here is 8 pm and I have sipped the Palmer MillΓ©sime Brut 2005.
A champagnes wiff of bread, yellow apples and some orange peel. A lot of minerality on the nose as well, almost limestone.
The taste is clear, dry, sparkling (duh πŸ™‚ ) with lots of acidity and minerals, golden apple, citrus, and component I would describe as mashed roasted hazelnuts spread on some wet white bread. Delish for sure! πŸ™‚

  • I found the Pommery Brut Royal and the Pommery Brut RosΓ© at my local monopoly store and you can order it in magnum and double magnum too. I’m flabbergasted.

  • Gosh damn I’m jealous. I may need to jump on a Concorde, wait I can’t, at least a friggin’ fast jet and get some. Of course, I could fly right to DeGaulle airport and take a leisurely drive to Reims and buy some at the source. Of course, I will have to stay a few nights to recuperate in the lap of luxury.

  • Yes, I don’t think this is a great “date” movie. This is one for those who are emotionally secure with themselves (duh) but can also relate to passion and the idiosyncrasies of the human psyche. And the music . . . sublime. The name of that piece? “The Heart Asks Pleasure First” How appropriate.

“What did you think of the movie ‘The Piano'” would have been a great topic of conversation for Miles and Maya on the porch with Jack and Stephanie rocking the walls in the background in the movie “Sideways.” “Why do you like pinot noir Miles?” worked well too. πŸ™‚

  • Kate is drop dead gorgeous. Wow

  • Really? I thought you had to show your card just to enter the store? This is good news/ And 20 bones at Total Wine! Kudos to you.

I went to their website and it doesn’t show up at my “preferred store.” I should expand my territory.

Thanks for the info supertrirunner. Appreciate it.

  • I can’t believe Castonzo fell to them at #22. Life is good. Caps tonight and winefest tomorrow under the sun on the Eastern Shore of MD.

    Go Caps!!

  • I can only hope and pray that the Apanage is palatable. πŸ™‚

  • Of course it will be.. I can’t imagine that you would drink swill. πŸ™‚ I ddn’t make it to K&L last night but will buy it tonight.

  • Wonderful review, AndersN!! I’ve never heard of Palmer Millesime, but will look for it now. Sounds absolutely delicious! Can’t wait to pop cork tonight
    Thank for posting this!

  • I’ll see if I can download music from itunes.. Yes, what a perfect title for it.

You described it perfectly (scene from Sideways) a contemporary classic.. You can read it here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0375063/quotes Cheers.

  • You’re right, Dom. You do need to show card upon entering store and again at the cash register…Hmmm. Anyway, the stores vary in what they carry… Oh, by the way, they had Dominus in stock around the holidays at my local store. The wine guy was pushing it, but I resisted. What was I thinking???????

  • He always gets the good stuff! Bawler! πŸ˜€

  • Thanks Anders! I so wanted to see the whole thing. πŸ™‚

  • I’m trying hard to be, but sadly I only get to sparkle once in a blue moon and now I’ve gone and spent all the dough on a trip to visit Margret River, Yarra Yarra, Heathcote, Hawkes Bay and something called Napa, Somona and Willamette πŸ™‚

Regarding the good stuff I can only thank the alcohol state monopoly of Sweden for its ever more wider range of products. 17 000 and still counting. Cheers!!!

I truly love your positive attitude, BUT, I think the Colts have a ways to go before they see another SB. πŸ˜‰

Where is our schwag? Aren’t we all kids at heart? That never goes away. πŸ™‚

I went back and bought the “Pommery Brut Royal”. I will be popping tonight or tomorrow night and report also on Sunday I think. So we will have tennispro and myself tasting up this offering from Pommery.

    Nostrovia! TTF

I am going with the Brut Royal also. Just picked it up this afternoon. TTF

I think G had that 69 as a plant just so he can say it “SUCKS” and get the ckc’s in a frenzy. πŸ˜‰

  • Mott

Alright, who’s going to pay the rent for May?

    Hahahahahahahahaha!

  • Mott to the rescue!

  • Wonder if Coach Boyer’s taste in fashion is correlated with his taste in wine…

  • Anonymous

Mott, you made that trip to Va Tech huh? That was a nice job brother! πŸ˜‰

Lights are still flickering over here so someone is keeping it juiced up, is it you Mott ??? JT, or GV πŸ˜‰

Wedding was kick booty. Such a modern vibe yet such British sophistication. “Like it” button was hit hard when the Newest Royal Couple came strolling out in that convertible with the Prince driving that classic. Thought it was a Triumph 6 at first site πŸ˜‰ Loved that car as a teenager!!!

Popped a Enzo 2006 Magic Hill …. if ya like Napa Cabs you will not be disappointed.” Wine Vixen” has it at 98, me 95-96. One sniff of the glass and you are sold, no need to taste. TTF… have you ever had a wine that gave you this same thought???

Playing the National 30 and over “Indoors” tomorrow….. Can a 49 year old still bring it to these young guns ??

    We shall see πŸ˜‰

    I’m in for a tee shirt πŸ˜‰

Glad you checked up on us over here … πŸ˜‰ What wines are you trying these days ???

  • me too

  • I was served a Clos Saint Jean 06 du Pape at a resturant last august. It had the most enticing nose, I totally forgot to drink the wine, just sat there sniffy sniffing for ages.

49, thats not an age, it’s a statement.

  • Question of this day. If there that many hardcore Vaniacs how come so few actually are seen here?
Next question. Are the forum on this site still as active as before?

  • A NWIndianaDan…
A picture for you is HERE

  • The episode 1,000 video is great and so as the Royal Wedding especially the Royal Public Kiss πŸ™‚
