EP 1000 Episode 1,000

Gary Vaynerchuk has finally made it to episode 1,000 of Wine Library TV! It’s been an amazing ride since that day in February 2006, with great guests, amazing (and sometimes awful) wines, as well as a lot of Jets talk. Today, the main focus is a huge thank you to all the Vayniacs who helped make this community…and a huge announcement from Gary.

Wines tasted in this episode:

2008 Jerome Prevost La Closerie Les Beguines BrutFrench Brut Vintage

Thanks for the referral 😉 Saw a very good orthopedic doc yesterday he said everything will be okay and no surgery will be required. Just a lot of rehab to get back to tournament tennis.

  • Tennnnn hut!!!! Private Dom reporting for duty sir, I mean, maam! 🙂

This will be a work-in-progress today since I’m at work but here goes. First, check out this website: wishlists, links to stores to buy the wine, FOOD PAIRINGS, alot of informative stuff. I likey. Plus, this is one of the wines I brought back with me. I usually don’t have good luck finding any halfway decent PGs at tastings but this one is good.

    https://www.nataliemaclean.com/winepicks/wine.aspx?wid=12567

    2009 Tieffenbrunner Pinot Grigio
Color: Very light, reminiscent of typical Italian PGs
Sniffy-Sniff: Citrusy lemon notes yet also quite floral on the nose.
Whirl: Nice and crisp with good acidity, great mouth feel which I adore and I get kicks of green apple and nectarine. A really nice Italian PG. Fits my style.
    Grade: 88 pts

    P.S. Lovely, elegant label.

    2009 William Hill Chardonnay
Sniffy-Sniff: Beautiful floral nose, hints of honeysuckle, citrus and vanilla with a touch of oak. Very nice.
Whirl: Smooth, creamy texture that’s not overdone for a CA chard. Clean and well-balanced with notes of apple and butter.
Grade: 89+ (Recommended, under 20 bones)

I will add another one tonight. I have to check my stash when i get home this evening.

As Awnuld would say, “I’ll be back!” 🙂

  • Gotcha, makes “cents.”

    😉

  • Good news! Rehabs a bitch (sorry) but worth it. If you get a “good” physical therapist, it makes it that much better. 😉

In the meantime, enjoy some fine wine. You need to keep those arteries clean and clear of any debris. Besides good wine and tennis, what else is there?

I have rehabbed everything on my body though being the old man that I am and as much as I play, I’m in pretty good shape. Work out every day at lunch time PLUS some nice wine in the evening. Never fails me.

Get better so you can kick some butt on the courts!

  • Excellent, review, Private D! Well done!!

I like that website. Very cool. I have pretty much given up on PG but after reading your description of Tieffenbrunner, I will add to my wishy-list.

A customer at a local wine shop last week was just saying how much he enjoyed the William Hill Chard. Sounds lovely. And I do love your sniffy-sniffs.

    Ciao for now. 🙂

  • USA lost to Sweden i todays World championship game, take yet another sip of wine and forget 🙂

  • agree, but I guess that Gary run out of steam WLTV style. Yet DG is becoming more and more it and if that happens, what a waste of time, money and effort.

  • Yet JT also claim that they never will put up WL link to the wines, so the money is just from newsletter… and when ep 1001 comes, they wont add that news to all the Grapers? Well, then its just plain …..

  • Anonymous

You really don’t need a direct link. Everyone on the DG site knows about WL and they will search out the wine immediately at WL. Have you not seen all the comments about this – wine availability. The DG ers are already complaining about the fact that WL runs out of stock of the wines GV is high on.

Do you really think the “add to my wish list button” is about getting you to buy the wine somewhere other than WL … please …. On second thought it could be, once WL runs out. 😉 Again GV I have no problem with that.

No No @ andersN DG is all about the ability to openly sell many things to the DG web viewers. GV had handcuffed himself at WLTV with his initial stance on not selling wines he reviewed. (Yes I know, except for the 10 case max rule)

Again, someone tell me the difference between the two sites??? content ??? They seem to be about the same to me, just a bit shorter which makes it easier for GV to produce.

I’ll also bet you (JK) that there will be a hint over at DG that a new WLTV episode is out. 😉

Oh yea, I forgot. A recurring monthly subscription charge can add up kinda quick, right ???? 😉 probably some good “cents” there along with the wine sales. 😉

  • I am taking your suggestion to the max. I’m having this right now. I’ve been getting into these Greek wines.

    http://www.snooth.com/wine/haggipavlu-agiorgitiko/

  • I agree 100% TP with your stance. I can’t tell you the number of times I saw the dreasded ‘SOLD OUT” screen when trying to procur some of the G-Man’s highly rated stuff. If sold out, I would try elsewhere but was not that big a deal. I was there for the camaraderie of friends I made, the ease of use of the website and of course, GV’s “thunder.” Different house, different bed, I don’t know. I don’t sleep well outside my comfy confines of WLTV. Just love it over here, what can I say?

  • Where’s Mott? I miss him.

  • QOTD: How easy is this one? Peyton and Eli Manning and I like . . . . let me think here a moment, oh yes, Peyton. Why? Because he’s a class act in an era where this type of dedication and passion for the game is unsurpassed. It also helps that he will go down as the greatest QB and he plays for my team. Eli is a great kid too. I like him but will always be overshadowed by the big brother.

Brother, I feel for you, I really do! I’m having to watch my White Sox stink up the place and were predicted to win the division. My Blackhawks are done and the Bulls are stinking it up against the Atlanta Hawks. It is sad to be in Chicago right now.

Hey Dom, you have the Nats to look forward to! 😉 Sorry, I hurt with them also. 🙁

Enjoy the wine bar. I wish I was there with you.

    Nostrovia! TTF

I totally agree with monetization of DG and the newsletter. I called him on that very thing way back at the beginning of DG. I new that is what it was all about but GV would not say that was the case, he totally shut me down on that very fact. His argument was DG was still “Free”, but I knew better. I’m sure there is money being exchanged somewhere along the line. It’s all about the “Benjamins”!

  • But in episode #1 of DG we were told that one of the motivations in moving from WLTV to the new ‘tight’ DG format was to get away from taping ahead…

  • Do you think the WLTV to DG move also allowed for more of a link with AJ and Vaynermedia? Helping out little bro?

  • You’re encouraging me to try Greek wines, Dominus. I have had only a few (which is sad since I have such close ties to Greece). The wine from that particular region is pretty good from what I’ve heard. I visited Santorini in 2008 (a stunningly beautiful island by the way. A definite must-see) I was impressed with the winery tour on the island but wine tasting afterward was disappointing to say the least. The wine I had in Athens was unremarkable as well. Fortunately, they are getting better and better. Please keep the recommendations coming! L

  • Mott

Hello Dom. Hello Dan, Lisa, Anders, tennispro, Colonel, Allan, Cellarrat5,

I see you guys are keeping the fires burning. Hope everyone is well. I still come here every day (on the back end though) looking for spammers. They seem to sniff out sites with no new activity quickly. Anytime anyone wants to say hello shoot me an email.

    [email protected]

  • Mott!!! As Dominus said above, we miss you! Thanks for your email address. Ummm…yes, you could say we are keeping the fires burning alright. See what happens when we are left unsupervised?? 😉

  • no the spammers come out in droves 🙂

  • well I think the thin a little different then your analysis. http://dailygrape.com/users/963/comments/20750-gv-trout-app-idea. read Trouty’s comments. But I’m not arguing with you. All americans entreprenuers think about is actually to make as many bones as possible, right?

I think lot’s of things will change on DG, and all the newbies there will see that, often 🙂

  • it is business as usual 🙂

Maybe helping out John Toutman (sp) and hurting our friend Mott. Mott was the best on camera and in person when I met him for episode 500 in S.F.
Mott gave me his WLTV wrist band, off his wrist, when I could not find one because I was just a bit late to the party 😉 Classy Mott.

Mott thanks for checking in. I guess your downfall is that you do not comment on DG like JT does. JT for sure has the most comments at DG !!!! Mott no need to reply to this 😉

AJ does need help … especially with that Tee Shirt adventure that went no where. Even Vaynermedia could not save it. Also Colonel, remember GV tried to help AJ out at WLTV with his early tee shirt promo’s. So how does a change from WLTV to DG help AJ more??? and how does DG keep them more connected???

The only new connection and vibe I feel is happening is that GV is high on JT with his traveling camera work and with JT’s wine comments that are keeping the DG forums more active. Gotta drive those numbers right, especially when you have to sell anything down the road.

Mott what’s the count on JT’s DG post???? 😉

  • Anonymous

Ya nailed it. I will have to watch episode 1 again 😉

See Colonel post above 😉 Pass revolked 😉

Hello Mott, hope you’re doing fine. Your camera work is still top notch. 🙂

    Qotd: 1001, When?

  • Caps get swept by Tampa Bay! They are good but Tampa Bay? Do they even know they have a hockey team? Time to fire Boudreau. Geesh

Dom is bummed but will pick up his game tonight on the tennis court. I will take out my frustrations at that time and then top it off with a nice pinot on the deck.

Hope all is well with the TTF!

  • My man, it’s nice to see you Mott and yes, we keep the fires burning as best we can over here.

I will remain in touch. 🙂

  • Jack slips into the dark, cold waters. Credits roll . . . THE END

  • Ahhhh the Greek isles. I would love to visit that beautiful country. I have heard rave reviews about it. Another destination to add to my Bucket List.

Tonight I will be opening this white and rose with a friend of mine who will get sliced and diced on the tennis court. He takes his beating in stride since the Dom can grille a mean halibut and serves nice vino. 🙂

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII WWWAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNTTTTTTTTTTTTSSSSSSSSSSSS MYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY GUUUUUUUESSSSSSTTTTT TTTTTTVVVVVVVV!!!!!!!!!!! :OP

  • I say Trouty mention that it is in the pipeline. Now the question is, how long is the pipeline 😀

  • Well they cancelled cork’d due to one person quitting (official version anyway) I guess if DG don’t bring the dough, that too will drop. Gary i set on making enough money to buy the Jest, right? So I guess the entreprenuer in him is trying all the ways possible. How is Wine and web on the radio go these days?

  • Same as the Android app or Edit and Like buttons for NWID! 😉

@ andersN …. did you see the GV new play on garyvaynerchuk.com ????….. vaynermedia (gv) is now pumping out business video content …. I feel a new newsletters subscription coming.

I think he called it ” The Daily” 😉

My prediction is that he will leave his roots and switch from wine content to web & business content on a full time basis within 2 years 😉

  • ALLAN2.0

    Who’s Trouty, a fish or somethin’? :O

  • ALLAN2.0

The only thing I know with Android in it something by Radiohead called, Paranoid Android.

  • That’s Marvin

  • Yep, I saw that via Gary’s FB. He said last year that he had to cut all the keynotes, all the talks and take time to think and get back to his core. But that have been a move for more book tours, more speeches and more exposure. At the currant pace I guess he have to give up something. I wouldn’t mind running WL 🙂

  • Good to hear from the Mottster.

  • @tennispro: “Daily” is a theme, not a commitment.
    Check out this press release.
For less than the price of a year’s worth of a wine newsletter, you too can have a e-version of a Rupert Murdoch rag on your iPad every day!
    (Think I’ll take a Pazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!)

Nostrovia my brother! Enjoy that pinot. I have a Bordeaux open and on my second glass. 🙂 TTF

  • I’m sure it will be sooner. We should be thankful it hasn’t happened sooner.

  • I’m putting a major dent in a Santa Barbara Pinot and a Greek red called Agyritiko ?

No more hockey, baseball team sucks, no NFL in sight, thank goodness for my homes on WL and vino. I just finished playing some tennis and enjoying halibut on the grille so life is pretty good. 😉

    Where’s my lady Lisa?

    Where’s my ladt Liusa

  • Thank you my friend. I have put a major dent in the Santa Barbara pinot tonight along with a little bit of William Hill chard, Tieffenbruner pinot grigio and a Greek Agiorgitiko with a nicely grilled hunk of halibut after spanking my friend on the tennis court 6-0. It was ugly but someone had to do it. 🙂

Where’s Lisa? I bet off at another tasting. Lucky gal.

    Cheers
