EP 1000 Episode 1,000

Gary Vaynerchuk has finally made it to episode 1,000 of Wine Library TV! It’s been an amazing ride since that day in February 2006, with great guests, amazing (and sometimes awful) wines, as well as a lot of Jets talk. Today, the main focus is a huge thank you to all the Vayniacs who helped make this community…and a huge announcement from Gary.

Wines tasted in this episode:

That’s one type wine I’ve never tried from Greece. I need to get on that.

  • Lisa S

    Hi Dom,
The sniffy sniff sounds like something I’d wear.. not drink.. Cute.
I remember you linked up a Greek rose a while back.. I tried to find it at wine shop, but couldn’t remember what it was. Just tried to sift through these pages but no luck.. Sheesh.. we are a chatty bunch. Soooo many comments! Anyway, I ended up buying a Skouras Saint George Nemea, Aghiorghitiko 100% only $14. Might as well help the Greek economy a teensy bit. 🙂

  • Lisa S

How come I never see Burgess on the shelves? I wonder if this is difficult to find? Thanks, John_J, will look for it.

  • Sounds good to me! I just finished up my Branzino with the Reginac. A tad overpowering but I took “small sips.” 😉

Plus, I was listening to two of my favorite albums: “Fields of Gold” by Sting and “Hell Freezes Over” by The Eagles. The acoustic guitar lead-in to “Hotel California” is just mind blowing. Wow.

Tonight I have “tasted” the J Vineyards Chard, a Sancerre, Cloudy Bay SB, Cleavage Creek Shiraz/Cab in honor of our friend and the Reignac. Feeling kinda melancholy right now.

    Cheers my lady,
    Dom

  • I had it at Zaytinya. They come out with some great per glass bargains.

  • John__J

They are out there. I know they have the distribution, but they don’t have a huge production however.

I’m opening another bottle of the “Poet riesling” tonight and pair that with some sushi 😉 yum yum …… nice post Lisa S !

  • Anonymous

Big Police, Sting fan …… Love that period in Stings life where he turned out the ‘Field of Gold”

    Very hypnotic !!!

Just saw the Eagles in Reno NV a few months back and they down a hell of a show. 😉

  • Anonymous

Oh Yea, Way to bring it Dominus! Nothing advil, ice, and wine won’t cure.

I’m pumped up to see this years 2011 French Open Tennis Tournament unfold…… especially with the New Babolat Tennis Balls. A lighter ball so more winner will be played on the dirt of Roland Garros this year.
This should give some of those big servers & hitter more of a chance 😉 I’ll bet you McEnroe is pissed-off these tennis balls were not in play when he played 😉 He might have beat Lendl then 😉

  • Anonymous

Gonna have to find me some Burgess now. It’s been over a years since I last had some.

  • Anonymous

Go on …. Take the plunge 😉

  • Anonymous

Have not had the Hollis Cab, thanks for putting it my radar 😉

I may be going over to Stanford to catch some of that NCAA Tennis Tournament. Both the Cardinal Teams were still in the draw as of early Sunday. NCAA Singles Tournament to follow next week.

If I make it down you can rest assured that Beltramos will taking over some of my checking or savings account funds 😉

  • Anonymous

Petrus 2000 would have been epic ….. Dammm it!

  • Anonymous

Have you had the Realm wines?

  • Anonymous

    There must be a way ….. 😉

  • Lisa S

Ha! Beltramo’s owns my apt bldg.. I pay them rent and buy wine from them.. one big happy family!

Drop by and say hello if you’re near the hospital.. Sometimes I have to run around campus as well. Where are the tennis tournaments? Very cool.

  • Lisa S

Love Sting! You’re listening to some melancholy tunes there, my friend. Why don’t you kick it up a notch? … “If you love somebody set them free ” and “Desert Rose” will perk you a bit! 😉

  • Lisa S

I almost opened Poet’s Leap last night!! It wasn’t chilled and I couldn’t wait. 🙂

  • Lisa S

    QOTD TTF:

    1. What do you think of Facebook? (In one sentence or less).

    2. I need a new phone: iPhone or droid? 🙂

  • Anonymous

FB- Great social conduit with primary and secondary friends.

    I have an iphone 😉

  • Anonymous

    It drinking really good 😉

  • Anonymous

Set them free … was that 1985-86 ???

  • Lisa S

    Oui.

  • 1. Agree with TP though I am not “social” and could care less about it though I have a page just to “try it.” 😉

    2. I have iPhone (personal) and BB (work) and iPhone blows it away with web functions though BB wins for text and emails.

  • “Primary” and “secondary”? You’re kidding right? Would one of your friends know they are “secondary”? Wow

  • One big “family affair” where we can’t get enough of each others’ worlds.

Understand the frustration with sifting over here. I guess this is one of those situations where good things come to those who wait and wait . . .

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

  • Then I need to find some pronto.

@TP: I was watching the French last night and the crowd was sparse at best. So sad. You would have had no problem moving down to get a front row seat unless they had the Ticket Police blocking your path.

David (Daveed) Ferrer ain’t half bad and he wears the greatest shirts. 😉

  • 🙂 That is oh so true re: McEnroe

I watched some great tennis from Ferrer last night but the seats were empty as I referred to an earlier post up there. ^^^^

I will be watching for the next two weeks for sure especially Maria Sharapova. 😉

  • Lisa S

So true, D… and, yes, patience is a virtue, or so they tell me. I’m working on it, really I am.. 😉

  • John__J

    1. It’s a great way to keep in touch with people whether friends or networking. (Especially if you would rather not talk to them on the phone or don’t have enough to say to them to talk on the phone, not to sound mean.)

    2. Don’t know, don’t have either yet and don’t feel the need for one as of yet.

  • John__J

lol, I’m assuming he means acquaintances.

  • John__J

Not yet and if you have I’m jealous. I’m quite aware of Realm and I’ve brought in both their 2007 “Bard” and 2007 “Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard”. I know at least one of them was rated at least 95+ points. I sold a bottle of “The Bard” to Newt Gingrich and his family when he came in a few months back.

  • John__J

@ Tennispro: That comment above was my answer to you when you asked me if I had had any of Realms wines.
Many thanks go to disqus for throwing up one of my reply comments to the top of the page yet again.

  • The Eagle Has Landed from WL!

The Xavier Cote du Rhone and Oveja that everyone is raving about is in da house!

Dom will be a happy camper tonight while watching some French Open.

  • After tasting several bargain wines in Denmark this weekend, I have a sneaky suspision that the wines are not what they are supposed to be.
Had a Lirac that was so watery, can a Lirac be that?. Tried a Chapoutier Cote du Rhone 2009, that was light, light, to light and so on. I didn’t like any of the wine tasted, all of them in the 10-15 dollar range, all “bargain” buys at different wineshops. I think I have to investigate more…

  • Lisa S

Thank you very much, Dom, TP and John J for your replies to my questions. I appreciate it.

I think I’ll get the iPhone.. I’ve resisted getting a smart phone, but it’s time.
D: I’ve also heard from others that texting and email is easier on keyboard phone or BB.

Facebook: I’ve not yet embraced it, but have a page as well. I do feel better about it since the privacy settings were updated. Ummm.. Interesting answer, TP.. So would we be listed as your primary or secondary friends ? Hmm? On second thought, don’t answer that. 🙂

Well, so much for my email notifications on replies from Disqus. Stopped working for some reason.

  • Anonymous

Yea I know that sounded funny. Sorry.

    How about this …

FB is a great tool that allows you to keep in touch with the family & friends that you want to stay in touch with.

FB is also great in that it allows you to send off a quick note, share a picture, or comment on a topic with those family & friends …… and all in “real time” .

For me, FB has replaced the US postal service. It is a lot quicker and cheaper than the US postal service. You are also saving money in picture printing & stamp usage cost.

    Any better 😉

  • Anonymous

You are probably good going with the iPhone. That seems to be what everyone is leaning on. Even over at DG the iPhone seems to be what is working the best.

FB, I didn’t embrace at first either. It is a very nice way to keep in touch with those you love. Friends will keep you busy on there. Just be careful with whom you really want to access your page. I was on FB quite a bit at first and have since limited my time.

What ever happened to letter writing? FB is the new letter writing because it is instantaneous! 😛

  • Hate to say it, I was not impressed with the Oveja. Just not my cup of tea, I mean wine.

Tomorrow I will uncork the Xavier. I think better things are to come but won’t jinx it with pre-conceived notions. I expected the Oveja to be very good at a minimum.

If anyone else tries it, let me know what you think.

  • You have a page? Ooooh baby, I need to go check it out. 😉

  • John__J

A watery Lirac? I’m sure it’s possible, there’s poor wines coming from every wine region just like there’s good ones

  • John__J

Let me know what you think of it Lisa. I’m sure I’m going to succumb to the iphone or droid sonner or later

  • Lisa S

D, You are so bad (and yet so charming)!

PS: Yesterday I said that I wanted to help the Greek economy (my 2nd and 3rd cousins, friends still live there) but this Skouras Saint George Nemea isn’t doing anything for me. Next? Link me up.

  • Lisa S

Sure, will do, John J. I’ll use it for work as well (linking up calendars, email, etc). I was at a surgical education meeting in Chicago end of March and while at dinner with a group of 15 people, everyone pulled out their phones and I was the only one with a regular, old-fashioned phone. Ugh. The next day during the mtg my boss asked what I thought about the emails he sent me.. (what emails?) “Don’t you have an iphone or BB?” “Umm..no,” I said. I had to go to the business center at the hotel to check emails. 🙂

  • Lisa S

Thanks, Dan! Now the question is 3G vs 4G phone? Verizon vs AT&T? I think I’m going with AT&T although dropped calls are a big problem in my local area.

Yeah, FB- I agree with you.. What happened to letter writing??? I still send Hallmark cards and hand write thank-you notes. 🙂

  • Lisa S

🙂 Yeah!! I feel sorry for U.S. postal service though.

  • Anonymous

wow…. that is a cool story !!! iphone, iphone, iphone 😉 LOL

  • Verizon without question especially in the DC area. They always get rave reviews. I had at&t with my 3G iphone and it was fine and now verizon with my CrackBerry so personally both have worked well for me.

  • I apologize. I got carried away. 🙂

  • Sounds like the wines coming into Sweden are getting watered down? 🙂

It used to happen all the time in the 18th century when they shipped the wine to the States in wooden casks. The sailors/dockworkers/scum would remove some of the wine for their consumption or sell it while replacing it with water.
