EP 1000 Episode 1,000

Gary Vaynerchuk has finally made it to episode 1,000 of Wine Library TV! It’s been an amazing ride since that day in February 2006, with great guests, amazing (and sometimes awful) wines, as well as a lot of Jets talk. Today, the main focus is a huge thank you to all the Vayniacs who helped make this community…and a huge announcement from Gary.

Wines tasted in this episode:

2008 Jerome Prevost La Closerie Les Beguines BrutFrench Brut Vintage

  • Thanks for all the great work. From the sounds of it, Daily Grape is going to be the same ol’ WLTV we know and love only in shorter bursts. For me (someone who doesn’t have a smart phone and loves to kick back and watch WLTV episodes two or three at a time, as if it were a TV show), this is an unfortunate change. But I also know that you’re a good enough business man that you wouldn’t have made this format switch if people like me weren’t the minority.

Good luck with Daily Grape. I’ll be watching; hopefully I’ll be able to enjoy it as much as I have WLTV.

Gary – We love you too! I’m incredibly excited about Daily Grape… Right when you announced it I went to the page and created my username (Don Simpson, same as WLTV). My timing in buying an iPhone a few weeks back could not have been better. Just downloaded the mobile app.

A heartfelt THANK YOU for everything you have given the Vayniacs. You are a very passionate person with an unparalleled work ethic, it really is inspirational. I have learned so much about wine from you, the guests, and the Vayniacs and I’m extremely grateful.

Although Wine Library TV in its current format will be missed, I’m very very excited for Daily Grape!!!!!!

    THANKS AGAIN FOR EVERYTHING!!!!!

Mott – You are the man too! What will you be doing now? One can only hope for some guest appearances.

The downloadable podcast was the only reason I was able to get my wife into trying new wines. We’d stream the podcast to the TiVo so we could watch together on the sofa. Huddled around a laptop screen – not so much.

  • Congratulations on episode 1,000! It’s an amazing commitment over five years to tape WLTV almost everyday, along with everything else going on. Thank you. The can-do positive spirit of Wine Library TV was an enormous encouragement to our domaine during its darkest days in 2006 & 2007- as well as being the great resource for discovering more that is has been over the duration. All the best for Daily Grape, and thanks again! RD

SOTD: Thanks for making the show what it is, I wish there was a way for a digital hug of some kind.

Any who I will be at the daily grape. Under a new name but I will be there.

That’s it? THAT was the 1,000th show? Such a big build up and yet I can’t imagine anything possibly being any more anti-climatic. It reminded me of the last episode of Seinfeld. Seriously, you should have brought your dad on the program, opened some great wines, or perhaps did a “best of” WTLTV. If this is what Daily Grape will be like, I’ll move on.

WHAT…A…RIDE! Watching this show nearly every day has been a small part of my life for years, and I will miss this format a lot. Thank you for all of the free content, all the advice, and most importantly for being so kind and humble through emails and when I’ve met you in person. This show has had a huge influence in shaping my view of the wine world, from the first time I watched an episode, to when I passed my Certified Sommelier exams, to today. I could go on as well, but I think I’ll keep this as brief and concise as episode 1000. This is not goodbye, just farewell, and that’s what I hope for you- to fare well with everything: family, the book, and Daily Grape.

SOTD: I love you too, brother… and YoungDave is already signed in at Daily Grape! Cheers!!

  • Hello. David M. Roberts here, and I cannot log in to Disqus, so I will just post as is.

I remember when I first “discovered” WLTV in 2006 likely several months after it had been on – I actually found it while tooling around on Youtube, and like a moron, my first few comments were posted on Youtube as opposed to the actual site. Since that time, I have enjoyed and greatly appreciated all you have given. I will also admit to being a fan of Sir Gary’s. The show has been a special retreat for me on so many noisy days; a small sanctuary on the web where I can lose myself in the show and learn something as well.

I understand the change, as that’s who you are and what makes you successul, and I am also thrilled the shows continue, and look forward to another five years. Hopefully, they won’t travel as fast as these last five have.

The other part of me wishes you’d just keep producing the shows in this format (maybe sans the most horrid Disqus!). Sometimes, I think change is thrown into the mix just for its own sake, while certain traditions suffer… but I am not complaining. Only reminiscing about the simple things that made this show so special to me, and many others.

    It will be missed.

At the same time, I am glad you will continue to broadcast and work your magic. I will tune in.

    My best,

    Dave

  • Get the Android app toute de suite, Gar. Apple is EVIL.

Thanks so much, Gary. My cellar has more variety and I enjoy wine more now than I did when you started, so your mission was a success with me. Best of luck in your new venture; heading there now to check it out 🙂

  • Looking forward to Daily Grape.. I’ve watched you evolve over the years–it has been great. Cheers!

TIME TO GET AN IPHONE! 🙂

Thank you for sharing, very heartfelt!

Is he going to do the spreadsheet for Daily Grape?

  • Not a chance! 🙂

    No, thank you.

  • Good one 🙂

Hey Gary, it´s kinda weird for me i´m at the same time happy and sad. WLTV mean a lot to me, it´s a big and happy part of my day. I´m a huge FAN.
at the same time i´m happy and excited with daily grape, it will rock, i´m sure.
Thank YOU for everything, and thanks for everyone in Wine library. You guys rocks.

Gary you changed the wine world big time, at least my wine world.

Thanks dude, good luck with Daily Grape

Aw, hun, we love you too. It’s been a helluva run.
Since I cheated and read the comments first, I’m already signed up on the Daily Grape with the same old user name and it’s up on my iPhone as I type this. I might even get the husband to download the app on his phone! The website has a nice clean feel to it also. I hope we see our international and non-iPhone WLTV friends there!
So I can’t be sad. There’ll still be the occasional interview on WLTV, and we’ll keep learning something new with you every day on the Daily Grape. (Can we please still see Mott sometimes?) On we go!

Best of luck killing it on Daily Grape GV. Don’t wait too long getting the android app out.

My dude, I don’t even know what to say. I get caught up by this great web show about 4 months ago, power through a few hundred episodes, and now it’s gone.

Being honest I’m sure it’s a good choice for you and your family which has to take precedence. Thanks for at least releasing Daily Grape for Iphone first. 🙂

    Yours,

    B.S.

  • Dude… I love you too!

We Love you too. Can’t wait to watch on Daily Grape. You’ve educated me about wine and made me happy and excited to watch WLTV. Now it’s time for some change. Good Luck with the new Daily Grape!!

    U da man Gary!
See you in Portland for the Thank you economy.

  • Oh… wait a second… since you’re going to be doing this in different places will you still be bringing out the brown bags? BROWN BAGS!

  • Gary, thank you so much for your enthusiasm, knowledge, openness, tireless effort and genuine caring (seriously) for all of us. The last circumstance, more than anything, is what drove this show, and kept so many of us coming back. I came to WLTV pretty late in the game (my first episode was the cereal pairing show!), but even in the year and a half out of the five that I’ve been watching, I’ve learned a great deal and have enjoyed that learning process tremendously. Gonna go grab my username over at dailyGrape now, though I’m pretty sure it’s not at risk of being taken… Best of luck there, and with everything else that you have going on. And thank you.

    -D.

GV, Thank you for everything for the past 5 years. I can’t say enough how you have increased my confidence and my palate. I am excited to check out Daily Grape and actually fit into your idea as I have been watching the past 100 episodes or so on my mobile phone. That said, I use a Droid so I will have to wait for the app on that platform. Thanks again.

Thank you soooo much for all you’ve done Gary! You HAVE changed the wine world! I’m Looking forward to watching you on Daily Grape! We love you Gary!

God bless you and your family!

Its never been about the format, GV. Its been about the love! Technology adapts. So must we.

We are just so grateful to continue to share this experience with you.

    Catch you on the flipside!

  • You’re an inspiration to us all…
    Keep the momentum rocking!

    Gary,

I don’t normally drink on a Monday night, but I popped a little 2005 Bordeaux to celebrate your 1,000th episode. You introduced me to Petit Verdot, and this little Margaux (La Bessane) has 60% PV, 20 Cab Sauv, and 20% Merlot.

I distinctly remember the day I stumbled across WLTV years ago searching for info on Bordeaux, and as they say, the rest is history. I’ve learned more from your show than I could have possibly imagined, and shared new and fascinating wines with friends & family.

Thank you for your passion & spirit, and always bringing the Thunder!

Wishing you well in this next chapter!

  • Thank you so much for this great show and sharing, I’m new (1 year) but I think by now I have almost seen them all.. 😉 Will keep following and will check out Daily Grape right now, thanks Gary!!!

  • i promised myself i wouldn’t tear up… but i certainly did.

super pumped about the daily grape though!

  • Wow….not sure what to say…hope you keep in mind that a lot of us don’t ride on subways….in a world where things keep coming at us faster and faster it has been nice to stop a while and watch WLTV….I’m not sure that I need another fast paced brain dump….hopefully that is not what you are looking to do at Daily Grape….sporadic WLTV episodes seems like something that will be hard to follow.

That aside, I am in your debt for all that you have done over the last 1,000 episodes no matter how I feel about your future endeavors. You have definitely changed my wine world and for that I thank you. Good luck Gary!

  • Congratulations Gary, amazing acheivement punching out 1,000 shows, looking forward to the new format and next episode whenever that may be.
