EP 1000 Episode 1,000

Gary Vaynerchuk has finally made it to episode 1,000 of Wine Library TV! It’s been an amazing ride since that day in February 2006, with great guests, amazing (and sometimes awful) wines, as well as a lot of Jets talk. Today, the main focus is a huge thank you to all the Vayniacs who helped make this community…and a huge announcement from Gary.

Wines tasted in this episode:

2008 Jerome Prevost La Closerie Les Beguines BrutFrench Brut Vintage

Alright! Yes I think the Vayniacs have spread the word about him to all our wine friends. All the Professionals have at least heard of him if not enjoyed a glass or a few videos with him.
Agree that money is not at the top of his list but with his energy he’ll show up somewhere.

🙂 Sounds like it was a nice visit to the Big Apple, overall. Too bad that b-day dinner was just OK (I read your comment on next page). Win a few, lose a few? What a great city though. I love NY!

The cotes du Rhone sounds yummy. Too bad it’s sold out. On another note, I am stunned at how quickly the Cinderella wine deals sell out. I will get the email at 9:00 am PST and by noon it’s sold out (at least the ones I want to buy). Who are these people buying my wines?? 🙂 Cheers to you, Dom.

  • Do I dare say No? No!

  • Served lots of cold cuts and sallads and even more chocolate , even a chocolate cake made by yours truly. Offerd Marquis de Haux Cremant de Bordeaux, Chateau de Haux Blanc 2010 and Chateau de Haux Rouge 2001 for all the guest to drink. It was a very nice party.

Got a Cdp 07 that I didnt have yet so that was a real bonus, thats 26 producers then 🙂

  • Lisa S

Well maybe in Sweden.. 🙂 Good for you!

  • John__J

    What’s everyone drinking this weekend?
I’ve neglected and haven’t appreciated the wines of Spain much lately. So tonight I’m going with a red Rioja.

  • Lisa S

On Sunday I’m attending the Annual Livermore Valley Harvest Wine Celebration with friends.. (winery hopping). Should be fun!

  • John__J

Awesome, be sure to give us a recap!

  • I’m back from my trip to NY. Will give a recap of food and wine tomorrow during work.

Missed you guys and gal(s) 😉

    Cheers!

Just went to Merry Edwards this weekend. Good Stuff 😉

Always glad to have you back Dominus. I have been watching some of the Open and I could swear that is you yelling “Hear We Go, ____, Hear We Go”! 😉

  • !@#%^& Yeah, “pretty good” stuff. 😉

  • !@#%^& Yeah, “pretty good” stuff. 😉

  • As long as we have some “cow bell” I’m fine with CW.

  • Sorry I couldn’t get on today. Too much work to wade through so promise to compose a long-winded synopsis of my past week or so. Some good, some bad but nevertheless, I survived.

    Go Novak!

  • John__J

Hard to find a pricey picpoul anyway. White picpoul does seem to be slowly on the rise.
Very solid wine for the price usually.

  • Lisa S

Sounds good, Dom. During my abbreviated “Sideways” tour, I had hoped to make it to Foxen and Fess Parker wineries but ran out of time. Did you visit these wineries when you did the tour?

  • Lisa S

    Finally! 🙂

  • Lisa S

Well, I must say it was a wonderful day of winery hopping.. We skipped the big ones (Concannon and Wente) due to large crowds.. We visited a few boutique wineries: McGrail, Cuda Vineyards, Wood, and Las Positas. All very good, but my favorite was McGrail. Nice cabs. In a nutshell, it’s been 10 yrs since I visited Livermore wineries and I was surprised at the great stuff coming from this area.. Who knew??

  • John__J

Sounds great, nice to see the boutique wineries standing up with the big boys

  • I found my way to Fess Parker and stood in the spot where Niles dumped the spit bucket all over himself. I even had an invite to have dinner with Fess Parker himself but could not drive to the hotel in Santa Barbara to change and back in time. Why they asked me? Who knows. It may have been my electric personality but my bet is they asked almost anyone who signed up for the Wine of the Month Club or showed an interest by asking questions.

  • hello all. It’s hard to comment with a phone but I m trying. So far 11 vineries visited in Margret River. Sem/Sauce b blends and the Cab sauv have been just great.

  • Kind of stupid list from Parker. These 20 already are high priced. Anyone that claims Angelus being I.under priced have way to much money.

  • Agree

  • Here’s what I’m having tonight with my bud who is coming to get his butt spanked on the tennis court.

This one I had at my birthday dinner.

    Awesome, keep us posted!

  • John__J

I discovered a what I call a total sleeper wine the other day- one of those wines you think will be at least pretty good for the price but ends up being absolutely dynamite:

Brokenwood Semillon, Hunter Valley, Australia. Couldn’t recommend it more, an absolute steal.
I’m not leaving any notes on it. I’ll leave it up to you guys to make up your own minds if you stumble across it and want to pick it up.

Tonight I’ll be trying my 1st white Chinon.

  • John__J

Cool. I’ve been realizing lately that’s there a lot more to albarino than I 1st realized.

  • John__J

This review of the white Chinon sums it up really well. I’d add that I also get yellow apple and a mealy quality, like an oatmeal or granola that I find appealing:

2009 Couly Dutheil “Les Chanteaux” Chinon Blanc

90 points Wine Spectator: “Round and fresh, with delightful melon, peach and almond notes backed by a lingering salted butter note on the rounded finish. Drink now through 2011.” (10/10) This is not a typo. Instead it is a true rarity: a white Chinon and from one of the undeniable masters of the Chinon appelation, Maison Couly-Dutheil. As you may have guessed, it is 100% chenin blanc, from two different vineyards in Chinon: Les Goupillieres and Les Molieres, both known for their chalky soil and sunny exposures. And, as part of the miniscule Chinon blanc AOC, it represents only 2% of the production for this region. It is a cristalline pure white, intense, very fresh and extremely aromatic, with floral notes, papaya, grass and soft minerals on the nose. The palate is fruity, delicate and soft, and fresh and bright in the extreme. No wood, but this wine does see extended lees contact with batonnage to further its complexity and power. A wonderful and delicious break from Chardonnay

  • John__J

I was not expecting much from this wine other than the geek excitement factor of trying a white Chinon for the 1st time. I am quite happy with how good the wine is

  • Did anyone see the semi-final match between Djokovic and Federer? Up 5-3, 40-15 in the 5th set and lose after being up two sets to love! I would have put a gun to my mouth. Most gutsy display of tennis from Novak I have seen in many moons and I’ve seen a bunch of them.

    UNBULLEABLE!!!

    Hope everyone is doing well.

    Cheers!

It broke my heart to see Fed lose another match after having match points. Serve and volley at 40-15 ????? Hats off to Novak.

I’ll be back posting soon …. still recovering from my 2 Fantasy Football drafts 😉

I will seek it out …. any idea who might carry it in California ?

  • John__J

Shouldn’t be too hard to find, I’d think. I don’t know who their distributor is in CA, but I’d be almost sure it’s one of the larger ones.
So I’d recommend going to any wine store you frequent and asking the buyer to order a bottle for you if they don’t have it. It won’t cost him anything extra to add a bottle to his order and therefore wouldn’t cost you anything extra.

  • Gary, what video software do you use to make the timeline annotations? Is this a function that YouTube or Vimeo provides?

    Thanks,

    Dave

  • I had 4! Went 4-0 after Week 1. Luckily, did not play against Brady or Welker.

  • Total Domius-ation! 😀 Who that I would say that about the Lions. I don’t want to get too excited. I’m a Mets fan. I will bide my time. 😛 The Vikings game is gonna be interesting.

I hope everyone had a great weekend! 🙂

I attended the BMW Championship at Cog Hill Golf Course Dubsdread #4 in Lemont, IL yesterday. We saw some fantastic golf and some not so fantastic golf. The weather cooperated for the most part. I got to walk along with Hunter Mahan (My Man) and Kyle Stanley for 13 holes and then jumped around catching Jim Furyk, Brandt Jobe, Brian Snedeker, David Toms, Chad Campbell, and a few others. All in all it was a great day and then the last hour or so the rains came down pretty heavy and we decided to call it a day.

I also had a nice Cabernet Franc and a nice Bordeaux which helped make the weekend a win all around!

    TTF!

    Nostrovia!

Beringer Private Reserve 2006 ….. Review ….. Very Very Good ….. My monday night football wine
    😉

Mouth Watering, tongue lapping, fruit driven Napa Cab that is still very young, but is ready to drink as it is hitting the beginning of it’s prime drinking window – that is if you like fresh berry fruit in your red wine profile. A well integrated wine …… Highly recommended.
