lines of the day – ‘Golden yellow; like if you drank a crap load of beers and haven’t been to the bathroom in a while’, and; ‘If you’re married you need to stay away from this wine, it’s very seductive’

GV’s prophecy that this week will be a phenomenal one for Wine Library TV whets the appetite…I can’t wait

Gary, I've been watching you for a year now and you need to interview Maynard James Keenan from Tool he's growing wine in Arizona at the Caduceus Cellars winery. This could be a massive show in terms of ratings. You need to interview him, Please do I would appreciate it so much.

  • NY Pete

how many times you going to post this? check the archives … GV had Maynard on already.

  • Jamie P

    Hi Gary,

You prompting has led me to make my first post. Thanks for the terrific shows full of enthusiasm!

My worst prediction – humanity would have by now started to get serious about environmental sustainability and the eradication of poverty.

As an aside, how about some on location shows from Canada – Niagara and the the Okagagan?

  • Hey… NY Pete is right. It's ep 592 & 593. Check them out before posting all that ****

  • Now can we please have our injection of the day???

Dr. Vaynerchuk the stage is yours……

QOTD: In 1985 when I was graduating high school I thought that by 2000 most of the world would be democratic and peaceful. So naive.

Current prediction: Bentheman will emerge a deuchebag

  • Tonks3

Great show. Very interested in tasting the Inniskillin Ice Wine Vidal now.

  • ben313

Thanks for the VT shoutout Gary! Professor Boyer mentioned you in class today and we're excited to possibly have you come down.

  • Thanks for the showcase on Canadian wine and hockey. Although I wouldn't call myself a “lurker” at WLTV I think I fit your criteria before this post. Next time you go Canadian on the show try to get your hands on some Nova Scotia wine. Nova Scotia is a small but growing region, and does not yet get the same attention as Niagara or Okanagan. I've been watching since episode #660 with Wayne Gretzky… first post today… sorry, I will lurk no more.

Ice wine and pecan pie…mmmmmmm… Seriously, though, I'm looking forward to a good Chilean show. They're doing great wine-work down there and need the support right now. QOTD – I'd be loaded by 30. Hasn't happened. Damn.

  • I live in Niagara and Canadian wine is the only way to go.

  • My worst prediction? Nothing comes to mind. The single worst prediction ever: Time Magazine predicted in 2000 that their Invention of the Year, the Vespa, would be owned by every household in America by the year 2010.

  • TPorter

Thanks for the VT shout out Gary. Your various episodes that we are told to watch are extremely helpful in improving my wine knowledge. Thanks a bunch. GO HOKIES!!!

  • robrx

Mini QOTD–I have enjoyed a number of Inniskillin's wines over the years especially the non-hybrid grape wines. I am planning to visit some other Canadian wineries this summer on a planned trip to the Quebec area.
QOTD–Predicted Apple iPhone would be available on Verizon by 2010

  • RDB3

Bring Misha down to Tech with you! Because VT, with a little bit of Gary V, we're changing the wine world, whether they like it or not!

  • VTwino

yeah Gary! thanks for the VT shout-out!! hope to see you down here soon!

  • Nice episode! Come up to Brandeis University in Boston too!!! Easy day trip!
QOTD: That Obama wouldn't be elected b/c of his race.

    Good episode.

QOTD 1 – I have not tried a Canadian wine, not much to choose from in Texas.

QOTD – My worst prediction – hard to think of it right now. I am not a prognosticator by trade.

  • Pat__B

QOTD: I'm just going to point to my 45,000 baseball card collection from that was worth a small fortune in the early 90s….not so much anymore….

  • Hopeful prediction: Bentheman in front of a bus.

I am adding Eiswein to my long list of wines to try, in my wine infancy. Cannot wait until friday.

  • QC_VT

Hey Gary – Great show! Thanks for the Virginia Tech shout out. If you can't make it down here, maybe you could at least do an episode to highlight some Virginia Wines.

Worst prediction: A VT-Alabama rematch for this year's national title game…

Actually I have a friend who LOVES ice wine and we got together he brought the 2006 Inniskillin Ice Wine and I brought a nice stinky bordeaux and we tasted them together. I REALLY wanted to hate the dessert wine because it really is NOT my thing but I was drawn into that “deliciousness” and had to admit that it was an amazing wine. It was made even worse because he hated the wine that I brought…. It wasn't a contest but I think we both wanted to prove something….

QOTD: Early in the 2006 season I predicted that the Bears would win the superbowl. I don't always predict that as some might think. (For instance last year when we got Jay Cutler I did not think we would make the superbowl) There was something about that year that I just knew after the first few games that this was a special team. It is by far my worst prediction because of the loss…. Even in the final playoff game my friends did not give any hope to a superbowl appearance and when they lost the superbowl they all said “see we told you it would never happen!” Yeah sure, you also said that they would never get into the playoffs, then you said each game they would not win… It was a real bummer!

  • Are you crazy? Drinking wine as an assignment??? Where do I sign up?????

    😛

  • QOTD: As a sophomore at Villanova in'85 we all predicted that Georgetown would wipe us up in the final game of the NCAA basketball tourny!

  • AmyNYC

QOTD: This may rank as the worst prediction ever, but I will preface this by saying that at the time it was made (1996) I was living in Eastern Europe and therefore not exactly plugged in to current trends. Here goes: I didn't think the internet was going to be a big deal.

  • I've been lucky with my business travels and I've had lots of Canadian wine. Gary, if your looking for acidity in those ice wines, you need to get some of the Okanagan stuff. In my opinion the wines of BC are of a higher quality over Niagara on the whole. I did get to try an 86 Inniskillin Vidal ice wine last year and this stuff ages great.

But if you do go on wine vacations, check out the Okanagan. Like Michael J. Fox said so many times in those Olympic adds, “you gotta be there”, cause the wines rarely make it out.

QOTD: I cant recall any prediction that I was wrong. I'm either psychic or only predict the real easy stuff?

  • ebnemes

My colleagues think it's funny that I like ice wine so much. I equated drinking ice wine for the first time as being the same as a child tasting sweet candy for the first time. I felt a big “Wow, this is great!” It was almost like a shot of energy, like caffiene.

QOTD: Keeping my money in the stock market too long.

  • It was more than an “Wow, this is great!” moment, I thought we were going to have to hide the rest of the bottles! Winemakers were scattering to hide the stock.

  • ten$under

Gary, Canada and Hockey go together – like Ice wine and cheese. Forget the desserts – go to the cheese. I have had several good Canadian wines – visited Inniskillin and did a great tasting – they have some good Pinot Noir, also visited Peller Estates and had lunch at their restaurant – excellent food and very good pairings that they designed. Worst prediction – I thought that Tempranillo would become a big deal in California winemaking, made the prediction 5 years ago – maybe there is still time.

  • Maximize your time with Mish! She's unbelievable! Lizzy must have some eyes!!!

  • Funny, the Inniskillin you tasted on this episode and their Icewine made from Cab Franc (which is very interesting) are actually the only Canadian wines I've ever had.

qotd – Wild card week this year, I was 1 for 4, Cowboys over Eagles was the only one I got right.
