QOTD: I would love to give an answer one way of the other but I am finding that I like bombs and I like dirty. It is easier to pick out the bombs so I tend to drink more of them but I do really like the dirty vegetable profiles. 🙂 So I guess I am also a dirty bomb.

Thank you! All eleven episodes were wonderful. You may now take a day off.
I can appreciate a good bomb. My other half prefers them to anything else. But I like to try a bit of everything.

I like a bomb that needs a little Windex.

Thanks for the ’03 Dominus, GV! I have two that I’m saving and it’s quite nice to get your take on them now.

  • Dirty. Definitely dirty. I just love interesting wine. There are some great wines being made in California, but when I have to choose what to buy, I lean towards Italy and France. I don’t want to risk cash on a one dimensional wine. Opportunity cost is the bottom line. One New World Pinot Noir that I’m enjoying is the Londer Anderson Valley. I really didn’t care for New World Pinot Noir, but kept trying (and wasting money), until my local wine bar pulled the Londer on. Nice wine. Sea Smoke is beautiful as well, but I could have two or more beautiful Italians for the price of one bottle of Sea Smoke. It’s nice to have both, and there are so many people that love bombs, I’m sure I’ll never want for them. New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc is wonderful, but I’m a big Sancerre fan. It’s nice to have different tastes.

Dirty, dirty, dirty. If the French could put crust-punk in a bottle, bring it on.

So speakin’ of the Villacreces: how about 1995? Still holding up well? Worth grabbing?

Really great episode, love the tirade about the overpriced fruit bombs, classic. My style…Think about the dirty mess left over after the bomb has went off, you can still smell the TNT, but your eyes are all gunky with the dust. I guess I’m trying to say I’ll take anything as long as it’s GOOD.

    Dirty dirty bomb…

I like a little fruit with my tannins.!

  • Jim Wilkerson

Gotta have the fruit, so call me a Bomber, but if it brings some dirty funk with it, all the better. Straight Dirt ain’t my thang, but then again, I’ve not had the budget for the high-end old world stuff.

Did you mean to taste the 2004 Villacreces instead? The caption said 2004, but you were drinking ’03. However, it’s the ’04 that was rated 95 points by Jay Miller. And, as far as I can remember, the ’03 was the one you’d recommended previously, NOT the ’02. The 2003 is the wine I saved to enjoy on the day of my recent graduation, and I have a second bottle tucked away for the next one. Good stuff. Thanks, Gary!

QOTD: DIRTY bomb (love the stinky old-world, but don’t mind the occasional explosion of fruit)

  • Very, very nice show. Kudos to your incredible effort. And kudos to that t-shirt. QOTD: Sometimes dirty, sometimes bomb. Dirty Bomb. Often times I’m out looking for excitement in a bottle, in other words, an explosive fruit bomb. Other times, I melow down, and enjoy savoring a more meditating classic wine, specially if food is involved.
