  • Kelldey

Gary, this was an AWESOME episode! I LOVE the fact that you are so connected to the people in your life. That is how I grew up, and Mr. Kelldey is the same. We always kiss and hug the people we love and tell them we love them all the time. Life is too short to not make sure that the people you love know how you feel. I wish everyone would GET IT!

QOTD: Definitely, my fave white wine for any time of year is Mastrobernaino Lacryma Christi Biaco. It is so different from any other white wine I’ve ever had. You still need to do a show on it!

Love the sports references!! Had a Cab the other day that tasted like Darryl Strawberry would’ve tasted in his prime.

  • QOTD – Merlot Summer or Winter.

Great episode and one I will refer to for a while to try some new wines (to me). We love you back. (in a Jersey way, not a California way 😉 )

Thanks gary so much for the episode, I enjoyed it emensely. Big ups to the Saint Emillion, i like bordeaux, but I feel the right bank gets a bum rap. Favorite summer wine – is a chilled late harvest.

The show was great. I’m out of lurker mode. I actually like to drink whites slightly chilled for me room temperature id too warm. i understand that it is a “tasting” thing and not a drinking thing If I can even say that. I guess I just did. Also I find that your descriptions of what you DON’T like can be in some ways an even better point of reference than the stuff you like

Great episode! Poderi Aldo Conterno “Bussiador” 2001 is my favorite summertime wine thus far. This w/e I’m pairing it up against a lesser known California Chardonnay (Peter McCoy “Clos Marianne” 1999 Unfiltered Reserve) to see which is better. Ever tried either of these?

Have fun in NYC tonight; sorry I can’t make it this time. Thx for everything you’re doing!

    Sincerely,

    Craig Roberts

Great show, Warm whit wine tastes like the time I ate a half rotten peach. Not that it was awful. Just what it reminds me of.

Book plug, read The Emperor of Wine. It echoes everything Gary preaches but with some interesting history.

  • Gary, your marathon finally drew this runner out of lurkdom. When you do a marathon in 95 degree weather, you just have to dig deep and gut it out. You gave a solid performance today, my friend! 😉

I hope to get my Vayniac wristband pretty soon. I’ll wear it during my next race in honor of your effort today (and to spread some WLTV love)!

QOTD: NZ Sauv Blanc w/ goat cheese. I don’t get the whole rose thing. Fruit bombs and old vines from Spain (tobacco and leather) go great with char fresh from the grill.

Love the “Oak monster in the closet” and “Oak monster came out and kicked me in the nuts!”
Nice spit on the Beringer as well.

  • The best summertime wine of all time is the 2005 Motovino Vida Nueva Rose of Tempranillo from Rueda, Spain (Finally, we aren’t lurkers anymore!) We drank this wine all summer last year in Atlanta, where the humidity never drops below 97% and rarely does the temperature. Really beautiful color and nose of ruby red grapefruit and strawberry. Lots of acid and bright fruit that sit well off the tongue, keeping this wine from being sweet or flabby. Really nice. Gary, you rock and we love what you are doing!

Awesome episode to offset the winter hardship.
QOTD: Pearmund Cellars Riesling. Not because it’s the best wine or has the highest QPR, but because it’s refreshing, is made by a friend, and is accessible for me. Also – I’m with you on Riesling — fond trips to the Moselle started my adventure into wine.
Keep it up GaryV, I owe you a bunch of comments, You’ve got a following in the winemaking industry in Virginia.

Thanks Gary. Great episode. I’ve been working waaaay too much lately and WLTV has been my comic relief. Thanks for the marathon.

I had the Sbragia Gamble valley chard – same experience; intersting, but with traumatic amounts of oak.

    QOTD: Sunday Mountain Sauv Blanc

Any chance you might try the Mulderbosch 06 sauv blanc from South Africa?

garyv I can NOT believe that you continue to crank out episode after episode and after 100’s you can still pull one off like this that is so totally exceptional. You are a force of nature, bro. And yes, I love you. 😉

Late, but its been a crazy week and just couldn’t make it happen last night.

QOTD: I don’t really have a summer favorite. I’ve really only been into wine for a year and a half now, and typically I buy something different everytime I go to the wine store. Without many repeat purchases its kind of hard for me to name a favorite.
