What a great mix of grapes to try, doesn’t get any better then this.
Zweigelt is now on my list of grape wines to try as for the others shown today.
What’s next Gary! Let me think OH how about trying a Saperavi or the Sereksiya grape that would be awesome.

QOTD: I’ll say this one time and one time only, DO NOT CHANGE A THING WITH THE SHOWS..
I’ll say this one time and one time only, never button that top button.

Relax, enjoy the tasting be yourself as we enjoy you, that’s what makes the show..

I would love to see you do a show on California Cult wines such as Harlan, Screaming Eagle, Hundred Acre, Colgin, etc.

Also California Pinots such as Kistler, Kosta Browne, Marcassin, Domaine Alfred, Sea Smoke, Merry Edwards, DuMol, etc.

    Thanks!

QOTD: Come on, you know. Same as when you asked last time: Blind Tastings! Maybe take on TJ Foderaro (The Nose)from The Star Ledger. And, uh, more movie reviews.

Bv 0 – GV 4!!!!!!!!!!! HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHHAHAHA THIS HAS TURNED INTO A CLASSIC, THE GV MAN HAS BASHED SO MANY Bv WINES!!! HAHAHA.

QOTD: Of course the best-ever segment that the thundershow ever had was the question-response at the end of every show, now it seems that is a longlost tradition :(.
PS: GREAT SHOW, I WAS REALLY CROSSING MY FINGERS IN SUPPORT OF THE KADARKA 🙁

QOTD: I like the idea of a tour of little known US wines. Also, I think a listener mail segment or semi-regular guest hosts might add to the show.

I like the 20-25 minute format. Thanks for the great show on odd wines!

How do you rate the Austrian wine an 80 after that review. I would have followed you with say an 86 based on your comments, but 80 and a seek it out comment? Does not compute.

  • QOTD: I’m still voting for an episode on cellaring / storage with a trip to the Vaynerchuck personal wine room / cellar with a trip through some of your flavourites.

On another note, this from my wife, “When he talks about wine smelling like a dirty jockstrap, I think of your nut-spunk.” Having not tasted a jockstrap recently, would you say that’s about right, Gary?

  • Jennifer

You are NOT a jerkoff. Don’t you DARE change the show, although for entertainment value it would be fun to see you sport a turtleneck and a pipe for an episode of “serious” wines. You totally had me snowed on the “Bozo”. QOTD: not a dern thing.

  • Oh, and I couldn’t agree with other commenters more. Please, cut the top two buttons off of all of your shirts…we deserve it for being loyal.

  • I think of it as not changing, but evolving. You’ve been doing it since show #1, and I’ve enjoyed how it’s progressed. It’s the way with success. As long as you keep connecting, then you’re good.

But really, keep the basics, it’s all good and spreading.

QOTD: I like the idea of guests, but what about the idea of having VAYNIACS as guests? Get a mixture of other pallets in there tasting the wines with you and speaking to the other VAYNIACS. Could even do contests to fly out folks from other areas.

  • Steve

you rock; thanks for the wine info. Will check out the dry rose; have never been able to stomach the sweet roses. Could you review some Vinho Verdes from Portugal?

What do we want in the show..? I first caught up with wine library a few weeks ago and it blew me away because I didn’t feel alone any more. I love wine but I’m not rich or posh and can’t stomach having my taste to dictated by an elite. The revolution that just might be happening, the democrotising of taste of which you, Mr V, are a catylist is inspiring is at the core of your concept. It’s what I want more of every time I visit.

Why is Zweigelt grown in Canada climate? I loved the show today your correct Gary I will have to get off my but and try some of those. I would like to see hmm maybe that cool song you played on episode played after each episode. More cheese would be nice as well, but in all I love the show.

  • The BV “Bozo” wine reminded me of a similar wine made by Costentino. They take all the wine leftovers and pour them in a vat and bottle it. They have wines that were poured in there 15 years ago. The difference is this is actually pretty good.

    G-

thanks for integrating the austrian wine. and thanks for replying to my email. i appreciate it. i am a wholesaler in a small state and i need to know importers. the spectator reviews more wine than anyone, but they do not mention importers. the enthusiast, parker, tanzer, and wine and spirits do. that is why i prefer their publications. it helps me research wine easier so i can BRING THE THUNDER to arkansas. thanks for reviewing the less common labels and varietals. it gives me confidence that i am on the correct path.

  • One thing I think could make a fun addition to the podcast is GV reading more labels, like he did today. Those labels could add to the tasting experience – or GV could debunk them like on the BV. Could be fun.

And what ever happened to answering Twitter questions live? I thought that worked.

Is it time for another live tasting?

  • QOTD: I would like to see more “special shows.” Maybe a blind tasting show once a month, guests at least once a month, Fridays on the couch, and once a month do a live taste-a-long.

  • Colleen

Don’t change a thing. WLTV rocks! And you, Mr. Vay Ner Chuk, are NOT a jerkoff.

QOTD: Blind tastings would add credibility to your show and would be really cool. Also, I like the idea of highlighting some cool food pairings.

    QOTD..
I would like to see a blind tasting with a guest, but not anybody that is connected to a winery. You are always on your best behavior with those type of guests. The show is great, but mix it up a little. Maybe once a week, blind taste wine with a hard core old world wine drinker, or even new world, sometimes a difference of opinion can be fun. I love WLTV as is, but you asked the QOTD.

That was super unlucky about the Beauzeaux – when you described it as smelling like a jock strap I was a click away from placing an order…too bad it went downhill from there. New viewer; great show.

    Gary-

I would like a monthly segment dedicated to ONLY new wineries. One episode a month dedicated solely to new endeavors.

I personally loved the episode where your guy picked out wines for you to blind taste and did the good fellas style camera moving through the store from the shelves upstairs to the tasting room. That should be a once a month segment.

Also, and I think it would be fun to do the reverse-90 point show. I think it would make a great episode to feature wines that got panned by a periodical that you have gotten good feedback on. Then you could have a show of 80-point wonders that some other taster just missed when tasting. And when you re-score it higher, you will create a buzz, because everyone wants to find a bargain.

Psych????? Holy moly, that was popular when I was a teen and you were barely a gleen in Sasha’s eyes.

Where do you come up with this stuff?

“He shoots, he misses, his dad punishes him, his mom cooks his favorite meal but he doesn’t want to eat it, his girlfriend breaks up with him” has to be the next tshirt (but it’ll have to be extra large only)

If you’re going to cave and go the hat and pipe route make it a propeller beany and a Meerschaum.

QOTD: Throw us a bone once in a awhile and pull some of that primo stash out of the gourmet section into a show once a week or so. We’re not only thirsty but we’re hungry for new tastes in non-liquid form as well.
