Psych????? Holy moly, that was popular when I was a teen and you were barely a gleen in Sasha’s eyes.

Where do you come up with this stuff?

“He shoots, he misses, his dad punishes him, his mom cooks his favorite meal but he doesn’t want to eat it, his girlfriend breaks up with him” has to be the next tshirt (but it’ll have to be extra large only)

If you’re going to cave and go the hat and pipe route make it a propeller beany and a Meerschaum.

QOTD: Throw us a bone once in a awhile and pull some of that primo stash out of the gourmet section into a show once a week or so. We’re not only thirsty but we’re hungry for new tastes in non-liquid form as well.

Great show GV —- I have had both Kadarka (many times) and Zweigelt. The Zweigelt is not my cup of tea (but neither is Beaujolais). Kadarka can be good but it is hit and miss.

I would like to see you continue to ocassionally do shows like the one you did today. Maybe one on Cali Sangiovese (like Bacio Divino, Sebastiani), Aussie Grenache or Mourvedre (not just Shiraz), maybe some Muscats, maybe do a show highlighting acidity in wines (take a few wines that are common everywhere, and describe the acidity levels,…….. so we can go out later and get these wines to taste the differences in acidity), just continue to do stuff that is fun and fresh.

Okay G-Man time to share. A little while back I was doing a tasting, I was pouring Grateful Palate stuff,Sparky wines and other junk. So anyways this girl sniffs, swirls, sips and makes comments about this Verdelho I’m pouring, and then very shyly asks if she should spit? I say-well if you’d like to feel free, and if not drink to your hearts content. She said she thinks she’ll spit. She proceeds to spit, RIGHT BACK INTO HER GLASS!!!!! Swirls the glass then pours the dredges into the dump bucket. At these points in life one learns how to pray for others.

QOTD: A while back you did a EP on Turley stuff, those of us longing to be on some mailing would love for you to taste through some mailing list stars. Williams Seylem, Sea Smoke, do a Marcassin, yeah do a real deal Helen Turley and tell us lowly folks if it sucks or is worth the wait. Many thanks for spreadin the word.

QOTD: It’s getting pretty hot out there…..Did someone say HEAT EPISODE?!?!

QOTD: Ever thought of throwing everyone for a loop and tasting beer? Not Bud, etc … microbrews or home brews.

Gonna’ definitely have to try that C St M Rose … sounds VERY interesting.

QOTD – answer viewers questions again, and once or twice a month break out a Pavie level bottle on the show. What ever happened to you bringing on the show wines you’ve tasted (say at a restaurant) that brought the thunder?

Good show. The pursuit of weird wines is sort of sub-hobby of my interest in wine.

QOTD: I like the show as it is. Though the epic original score by Philip Glass that I mentioned last time you asked this question would be pretty sweet.

I fell asleep a couple nights back listening to part of his breakthrough work, “Einstein on the Beach” and had some really strange dreams that night…

QOD-Blind tastings.Wow is there a echo in here. You should do “blind fridays” or something.Have your staff at WL pick out some wines and if you guess wrong you have to do something nasty like sniff a dirty jock strap(not your own) or eat wood chips or drink a full glass of beauzeau! Just keep doing it like you are.Taste wines that people badger you to taste and do interesting wines.

I enjoy shows with new varietals. As they say, variety is the spice of life.

For the record, Sweigelt = yes, Kadarka = no and it will remain that way.

QOTD: I believe the Vayniacs should give back to the G-Man and send in their favorite bottles to have him review in a “Vayniacs Give Back” episode.

Cheers to the “spiffy-sniff” and heck no, don’t tune it down for one space cadet lurker.

Gary, Thanks for another great show. The Beauzeaux is definately a “Bozo wine.” What clown thought up this concoction. Really disappointed because BV does make some great wines. Garbage in garbage out. In this case the garbage should not have been allowed to go to market. Put it in the dumpster where it belongs.

Your comment about the new world California and Australia wines makes a valid point. I have always liked balanced red wines. When a Cab starts to taste like syrup, it distracts from its elegance.

I wouldn’t change your format at all. I find it very entertaining and unpretentious. I think that your off the wall comments are a stitch and add a lot of excitement to the show. Keep up the good work.

Just an ordinary American here. I believe you are going to cause a great wine awakening in the U.S.
I have been looking through your archives and I can not find any episodes on Southern California (Temecula) wines. Is there a reason for that? There are about 15 wineries, many family owned. I just visited Temecula for the first time last weekend and I was interested on your take of southern california wines.

    Thanks,

    Mike

QOTD: Gary, start back answering some questions and add some other wine experiment (like the different glasses, like the heat, like the decanting…). Don’t let the show become only wine reviews. Mix it up!

Gary, there is some nasty stuff out there (wine, I mean). Actually, I deem the Chat St Michelle rose not very dry or dry enough. Rhone & Loire do it better. (My 2 cents.)

QOTD: Time for some BLIND TASTING. Or a theme like great wines from 2004 vintage for under $20. And blind tasting. Or both. Definitely some blind tasting, though.

PS: Agreeing with John and Wave, some regular blind tasting once a week or once a month at least would a nice competitive element. And you(!) like competition (and so does a little bit of me).

You almost had me with the “This is the best wine…”!!

QOTD: How about going out on the floor once in a while and interviewing a customer? Ask them what they are buying and why…kind of like that Take Home Chef Show….except you dont have to go home with them = )

Another great episode. Wouldn’t change a thing, other than bringing back more answering of viewers’ questions, and some more blind tastings.

C’mon, you know you’d never change your style and who of us would want you to? Keep it up, it’s art.

Great episode, will try to find the rose.QOTD not a whole lot I would like to see or hear some food pairings from time to time. Don’t change the format or the roots of the show for all the new viewers, stick with what made WLTV,GV being GV what we’ve all grown to love. It’s why we’re here commenting and friending you up.All we want is Gary’s honest opinion on wine, life, and us.(not that you don’t give us this) I’m just saying keep it going great show and community you’ve assembled here.Later

It might be time to give up the odd varietals. You don’t seem to have the best luck. But aglianicos rock!

QOTD: Maybe mix in some other foods from your gourmet dept with the wines. It would be interesting to see how the wines stack up with things other than meats (you’ve got some great stuff there)

Love it when you do the weird wines, man.

Stealing Alison D’s idea about grabbing a customer – have them taste a wine and comment after you’ve tasted it. Chicken McNuggets ya’ll

I appreciated the weirdness!!!! Always cool to learn about new styles!!!
AND… I like the black shirt! Please keep it unbuttoned at least two buttons down. And no more than three…
    As INXS sang, “Dooooooooooon’t change…!”
I mean it. Stay you. That’s my answer to the QOTD, too. “We’re changing the wine world”, but we shouldn’t change the show! If it changes, I’ll be sad. I mean, it’s always slightly different from day to day, and I like that, but that seems to come about organically (like doing the show from the couch on Fridays, or from the parking lot on a cold winter’s day.) I think if you set out to change it, you’ll have lost the reason the people who are already here love it.
    Me, for example. 🙂
