Too bad about the wines this time around. . . . . !

Have had the Casa in the past and sometimes it ROCKS, and sometimes it blows, so i somewhat agree with you on that review. And yes, it’s really Bordeaux like in style no question about it!

  • Good lookin’ out GV on taping 4 more eps. to complete the week…good lookin’ out.

QOTD: Things have been going pretty good my way. I did go to a ribbon cutting the other day that kinda sucked. It was the first time I was ever at a ribbon cutting. The ribbon was yellow, not red. And to top it off they didn’t even have a giant pair of scissors. Pathetic!

garyissorry was hilarious. Looks like something my friends and I would have done in college to ammuse ourselves.

Anyone that gripes because they don’t agree with your score is a moron. This aint science folks. Do you write into restaurants because the chef made something with celery and you think celery sucks? NO! If you’ve figaured out you don’t like Gary’s taste in wine, don’t go buy what he recommends. Same with Parker or all of the big boys (sorry Gary). It doesn’t make him a bad critic or you a bad taster.

Gary- Good show, but no good wines. Sometimes it’s like that with taking the hit for all of us. Thanks!

QOTD- The 2004 Altesino Rosso, but I will try it again.

PS- Thanks for the tapings and have a great trip!

Comparing the same vintage across countries isn’t very informative, since differences in “place” and differences in “weather” cannot be isolated.

Take the best vintage (or comparable vintages) from each for a more fair comparison.

And I’m waiting for Eucalyptus Flavored Raid Bug Spray to hit the stores anyday now! 😉

Love the East European disrespect for authority I’ve been sensing lately!

    gary-

tough break on the wines. You got spoiled on Friday.

QOTD: Knocked up was supposed to be such a laugh out loud movie, but it ended up being very serious in parts, kinda heavy, and also really dragged in the final third.

Good luck with your filming marathon today and have a great time in Hungary! Scout out some good diamond in the rough tokaji!

    Great episode on Cabs
    Cabs episodes are always welcome.
    Thanks gary.

  • Sonnenuhr

At least we know what NOT to buy…

Having said that I’ve been collecting the Isole e Olena cabs for a few years and will continue to do so. But, as always, GV is right: Very Dry!

Cool show and great idea. Do one of this type a couple times a month!

QOTD: I went wine tasting in the Fair Play Appelation on Friday (a subset of El Dorado.) I was really let down by the main winery I went to visit there (wines were unimpressive, folks weren’t too friendly.) However, I was blown away by several other wineries in the area, so it was a great day dispite being disapointed initially.

  • good episode, gary. AND Kudos on not blowing up at the author of that email, MY blood even boiled at the “stupid” comment. SO way to handle yourself.

I want to go to Hungary! Get some footage.

QOTD: My first time tasting wine! HOwever, my second more than made up for the first!

I badged you up at http://www.westonburk.com

Great episode – really interesting. QOTD: a great seafood restaurant (I got food poisoning…)

Nice change of pace in today’s show. Less GeeVee/G-Man and more Gary, if that makes any sense. Very honest and sincere today, really got the feel for each wine across.

QOTD: Common’s new CD “Finding Forever”. Got to hear a few tracks off of it and I was just disappointed… I expect more from him. Hopefully it was just my mood at the time and I’ll get a different impression when I listen to the full CD at release next week.

Good episode. I have attended tastings like the one you just did, but we did it blind. The funny thing is we had about the same results with half of the 8 wines we tasted.

I like theme tasting and keep up the good work. (or is wine tasting work?)

Just got caught up on garyissorry.com today. So funny! And personally, friending is no big deal to me. I’m in the business, so it’s kinda my job to keep up with the various social networking sites and web apps available out there anyway.

Great show today! I’d love to see a similar theme with other varietals.

QOTD: Um… no major disappointments lately, that I can recall. Just finished the final Harry Potter book, and that was great enough to make up for anything else that might have been a letdown lately. 🙂

This weekend I popped a 2002 Whitehall Lane Napa Merlot that myself and a friend found to be dominated by oak flavors. On one hand it was a minor disappointment, because I remember it showing beautiful fruit not muted by vanilla, cedar flavors six months ago. On the other had, the experience suggests to me how a wine can really change within a short time span. It’s strange but the experience was really intriguing.

QOTD: The SF Giants. Barroid Bonds and Barely Zito are a major pazzzz.

Nice pace to the show today. Your rantings of late remind me of the 1970’s movie Network, “I’m mad as hell and I’n not going to take it anymore…”

p.s. what long time viewer of this show wrote in to complain about your opinion on the molly dooker? i mean how can you watch this show every day and still not ‘get it’? i mean i can see disagreeing, but implying that you should suffer some type of punitive action as a result of your opinion is pretty outrageous…

QOTD: I went to go see Harry Potter in IMAX and I was really really excited cause I was going to see it 3D. The sequences were so fast and the broomsticks were all over the place with zaps from wands coming straight at you. But it made me nauseous and I had to wait 10 minutes to recover after the movie ended. 🙁 I have to go back to regular movie theater now because I don’t remember half what happened cause I had to shut my eyes a lot. It was just too much!

Gary – I finally found the Jonesy port you reviewed ages ago in my area to try, and I totally disagree with your assessment. You should be drawn and quartered for leading me astray. I will no longer be able to look you in the virtual eye. Okay, my last two sentences were a fake hissy-fit; I don’t really mean it.

QOTD – TRANSFORMERS!!! I expected it to be very crappy, and it was *still* a let-down. How is that even possible?!?!?! I don’t want human character development, I want Decepticons to actually be characters! I hate you michael bay!
