I'm selling lindaflor also here in Belgium. Gary you're right about the tasting notes. But you should've tried with pure chocolate. I love milk chocolate too. But you need the bitterness of pure choc. Go ahead and try it.
Do not forget if you taste the lindaflor (also the Chardonnay) there is a little sparkle of mentol. It becomes very intresting if you can find this.

Regards,

Alex

Thanks, GV, to you and your crew for your hard work and enthusiasm. I’ve only been watching for the last 50 or so episodes, but I’m trying to catch up on the first 250. My day’s not complete until the thunder’s rolled in.

Re: the singing. The wise Mark Twain said รข??Sing like no one’s listening, love like you’ve never been hurt, dance like nobody’s watching, and live like its heaven on earth.รข?ย So, now that you’ve got the first part out of the way, when are you going to be dancing?

  • Alright! SF Vaynerglass in the 300th episode!

Gary, I can attest to the fact that your approach to wine works. Thank you so much for sharing it with us! My experience of all things culinary has been deepened by the approach to wine that you have taught me.

    I wonder what you’ll do for ep365…

    Hey Gary,

Just had a tasting with my wife, we gave sea smoke botella 2005 and wesmar olivet lane vineyard 2005
a whirl. The wesmar dominated the tasting, not to take anything away from sea smoke which was amazing, but wesmar was so smooth…it was like butter. This is a must try for your show, you’ll be blown away.

    willie and melanie.

ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!!!! Loved the episode, Gary! Mr. DO and I tasted along, (will ‘cork’ it up!) we paused and started, paused and started. Took about an hour to go through the episode, took notes, compared….it was such great fun. Love both of these wines. Thank you, Gary, for making these wines available, for making the tasting together available to all. You are becoming a staple in the wine world, a benchmark versus a question mark, whether they like it or not!

Dude, very nice! Funny thing is I actually went back and watched the first few episodes this morning and then you show #1; to funny. I have only been catching the show for about a month, and I have to say you have come a long way from #1. I also agree with some of the others, I actually look forward to the new episodes and believe it or not, you are making a differance in some lives, which very few people can say. Thanks for lightening up my day and making me laugh. Keep it up!

BTW received my first shipment from your library today!

    Thank you Gary.
I appreciate the work you do and the effort you put in. I have bee around watching since the 40’s (episodes) and appreciate what you have done. So a big thank you to you.
I may kid you about some stuff or joke about your pronunciations or wearing the same shirt when you tape 2 or more episodes …. but I do appreciate what you have done n the wine world. Thanks again.

Well, my wife and I got together with another couple for our tasting with Gary episode. This was a great idea that you should repeat again. Our tasting notes: We did not have time to decant either wine. I would have like this pointed out in a previous show so we could be up to speed in the tasting.

We found the Rioja to have aromas of leather, blueberry and BBQ pork. In the taste the tannins were almost overwhelming in their drying effect. But as you pointed out the chocolate smoothed this out and the tannins disappeared almost 100%.

Our Malbec’s cork was wet all the way through. It did not seem to affect the aromas which was deep, powerful and had hints of blackberry. We could not find any of the strawberry that you mentioned. We did not enjoy the flavor of the malbec as much as the rioja. I also thought the finish was incredibly bitter (perhaps from the leaking cork?).

We are going to try them again on Saturday with dinner. We will see what develops.

Thanks for your great show and keep up the good work.

Great show. Next time I’m drinking along.
old QOTDs I missed because I was out of town: my favorite color is blue with a little bit of green or green with a little bit of blue. My favorite dinner would be tortilla soup (from Rosa Mexicano), cioppino, and mango sorbet with marinated berries. With Krug Vintage Brut champagne or Gary’s Taittinger
