Zins are my favorite wines, I’ll definitely try the Ch. Montelena. The price tag on the Ravenswood is too high.
QOD- I am a medical oncolgist in the suburbs of Pittsburgh-affiliated with the Univ. Of Pittsburgh

  • I’m gonna post this on the forum as well, but why the distinction between “zinfandel” and “red zinfandel”? TWICE you made the point!

QOTD: Late bloomer, real big partier (partied hard in Edison NJ), joined the Air Force, got an electronics degree, became an engineer for Tyco, and now own my own business helping people create butiful labels for their wine bottles.

  • I love Zins and loved the show, Gary. I just sold my massage school and will continue to teach part time. Looking forward to tasting more wine and playing more golf.

Nice show Gary, I have had a few Zinfandels along the way and have enjoyed the majority of them. I might have to try that Chateau Montelena soon.

QOTD: I am a recent graduate from JMU working as a Lab Analyst in a pharmaceutical lab. I try to enjoy wine whenever I can, be around family and friends as much as possible, and just live the life.

Hey Gary…man..it’s been a while, I’ve been travelling almost non-stop for the last 3 weeks. Anyway…what do I do, eh? Well, I spend my days at work standing at a workbench in a refrigerated warehouse, inspecting fine and rare wines for auction. At home I just chill out with my wife (who’s pregnant) and our dog. I’d rather listen to music–I grew up on punk rock, but I’ve mellowed out in my older years–than watch tv, except football and I ride my bike to work everyday. The end. The baby is due January 10th. It’s gonna be great!

    See you later,
    T
    GO BEARS!!

Big fan of Zins. At first the over the top fruit bombs – but now I’m starting to appreciate the difference between fake and real. Not that I don’t appreciate a nice “fake” once in a while…but let’s not go there. The point is my tastes are evolving over time which is kind of cool. Current Zin fav is Ridge Geyserville.

QOTD: Finance Director by day, wine explorer by night. The exploration has been greatly aided by Wine Library – keep up the great work!

  • GOod episode. I had an (i believe) Old Ghost Zin that I really enjoyed a couple of weeks ago. Good stuff.

QOTD: I go to school for Music, Theatre, and Electronic Media. I work 2 part time jobs. I go home every night, watch WLTV, play computer games, and sip on whatever wine I decided to open for the week. I also write and record music, edit film, and write. I am trying to become a Renaissance Man. I like to do everything!

  • QOTD…I run an Internet radio station http://www.radioarizona.net which plays music by Arizona artists only 24/7. It’s fun. I also am CEP of LJW/Anderson Productions, which produces TV and radio entertainment and advertising shows.

I am extremely fond of the Zinfandels from Robert Biale Vineyards in Napa. I am a Zin fanatic and they make some truly grown up Zins and Petite Sirahs. Their Thomann Station PS might be my fave all time wine. Of course, you have to be there to get their wines. We were hooked up by a Napa innkeeper who knew the owners.

Thanks for the heads-up on the 2004 Chateau Montelena Estate Zinfandel…I’ll try that right away.

Gary, your complete honesty about whether a wine is worth the money or not is helpful when budgeting for my wine supply. Especially with Zinfandel, a favorite grape varietal. Some time it would be great to hear what you have to say about Consentino’s Zinfendals Cigar Zin and The Zin. Hey I am no longer a lurker. I’ve been saved.
