qotd: By day, I make websites easier to use. On the side I work with glass and I garden. And wish I were young and good enough to have made the US women’s soccer team, but that would have been 20 years ago. Oh well.

  • The Knicks will not beat my Raptors this year! I would love to try the Ravenswood, but it’s almost 80 bones up here at the LCBO in Ontario!

I am a piano technician. Napa Valley is part of my service area. I’ve tuned pianos at a number of wineries here. I really enjoy your observations! I’m a big fan of Zins. There, I have now broken ranks with the lurkers!

  • I work for Microsoft’s legal department and I drink wine.

  • Good Episode Gary. Have fun on the Ellen show Thursday!

QOTD: I am sensory research scientist in Richmond VA. On the side I help my in laws run a small 200 case winery. I would list my hobbies, but then this would feel to much like a personal add. haha

LOVE ZIN, we like the Ridge a lot although it is quite pricey, Campus Oaks is a good value, Peachy Canyon makes some nice ones that aren’t to expensive either. Plus we love Seghesio Zin a ton, we are in their wine club so we get the smaller lot stuff that doesn’t go out to the public that is really awesome.

  • Didn’t know that Montelena made a Zind but as they are one of my top cabernets I’d love to try it. Hve two bottles of the Ravenswood in the cabinet and can’t wait to get to them. Came from the Ravenswood club.

I am a Clinical Geneticist and I do travelng clinics around the US taking care of children and adults with Down syndrome.

Thanks for the Zin episode…one of my favorite varietals!

    I love the show Gary!
QOTD: I am a Project Manager for a Marketing firm in CT.
I love trying new wines. I never take someones opinion on wine and let it change my views on it. Just cause its a cheaper price, doesn’t mean its not good. I have found some AMAZING wines at very low prices. What matters, is what you make of it.

    GO BEARS!

    Gary ,
Zinfandel is one of my favorite wines to drink. My wife and I recently had a Ravensood Lodi vineyards(2004) with some Mexican food that was “bangin!” Zins go well with so many different kinds of food, turkey, barbecue, Mexican, etc.. Along with Dolcetto wine, Zin is one of the most tasteful and underrated wines out there.
I am a retired school principal and currently work as an educational consultant.

    Gary,

Just discovered this site and it’s fantastic! Thanks for the review on those flashy zinfandels; I love the Ravenswood and will have to seek out the Montelena.

QOTD: I work as a implementation consultant for a software company in Chicago (Don’t worry, I don’t share a love of the Bears).

    Thanks again!

Zin was my first love in the early nineties. Rabbit Ridge & Co. Affordable and drinkable. Still love them but expanding my wine experience & palate (mid especially). I provide technical support for high end computer sales and enjoy life every possible moment in as many ways as I can.

What a great QOTD! Almost as interesting as the episode… Okay, maybe even more interesting because I live in the UK and cannot get any of the wines you tasted. A perennial problem. Seems that a lot of viewers are in medicine or law. Hmmm… I really wish I that I could meet up with all the folk who left a comment and truly embrace the Vaynicac nation instead of residing here in a distant outpost and watching from afar. Incidentally, I really got into American Football in the 90s but something changed in the new millennium. It somehow got shallow and fake around the time when the Patriots emerged from nowhere. What happened? That said, and this is the honest truth, I did think the NY Jets had the best outfit. Totally classic. Up there with the 49ers and the Cowboys. Anyway, what do I do..? Ironically, and amongst other things, I write scripts for a NY based production company who are a kinda spin-off from the Sesame Street thing. Come and play!

Love Zins! In fact opened the Sky ’01 that I got from you last night. I liked the strawberry nose. Hadn’t tried one in about a decade. So hard to find.

Father forgive me for I have Zinned…alot! I love the Ravenswood zins – haven’t tried this one yet but I will. Gary BTW – say hi to Jessica Alba for me on Thursday. I envy you man!

QOD – I used to be a professional lurker, now I am a Healthcare Consultant

I’m a zin fan too! Always come back to it. Grows all over the place here in cali. I think it may have been the grape my GGG Grandfather grew. He was a cabinet maker in NYC, moved west and planted a vineyard in Illinois around 1840.
I have a small tool making business, did some sceenplay editing, and have danced with a few stars.

QOTD: I am an architect and I am always jonesing for Allegrini Amarone.
My second job is being a lurker. Gary, it is very dificult to watch your show because you are a Jets fan and I am just as big a Dolphin’s fan. What makes me smile is when you spit in the Jets bucket.

Nevertheless, you do an awesome job and you should be on cable/satellite.
