Zinfandel is probably the best known grape that I have nearly no experience with. I’ll look to pick some up. Although, finding American wines in Montreal is a pain (the bloody SAQ is the only thing wrong with this city). Gary, if you can, start shipping to PO boxes on the NY-Quebec border, I’d be very happy to give you business.

QOTD: I do chemistry, but that’s only a job. I like to travel and learn new things with my best friend, my wife.

Nice to see a little more love in the comments today. I guess it’s good to ask people questions about themselves!

GV – What a true “showman” and purveyor of serious and heartfelt information dispenced freely to the loyal and grateful flock!
What do I do….. mortgage broker from [ WA] and lender of money – neither a lender nor a borrower be, I say after 30 years in the business. Would love to get involved in your wine experiemce in Napa Valley – will be incredible and an education for all to see and taste! I will keep watching, and ordering despite the inability of Wine Library to ship to Washington – I live on the border of WA & OR and can have you ship to Oregon. Bastard beaurocrats – the price of Liberty is Eternal Vigilence & drinking great wine, eh Gary? Jeff Slyter

Nice episode GV! We just had a “Zin and Bleus (Cheese)” tasting at my work. None of these wines, but I’ve since tried some more zins…added it to the regular routine.

QOTD: I’m a grad student in Wisconsin, studying French and EU Affairs. I did this to push off the whole “adult” thing.

QOTD: I lurk no longer. I sell wine for a distributor, which means that 90% of the time I think I know more about wine than the average bloke, and 75% OF THE TIME IT TURNS OUT TO BE TRUE. Currently, I love your show and I hope that I can get all of my customers to watch it.

You really are changing the American wine market. Keep it up.

Flemington Fair cotton candy – we used to race stock cars there before they bulldozed it. I’m in high tech marketing. Went to a wine tasting class last night at a little bistro in Perkasie Pa and our wine master remembers when Wine Library started. Loves the place. We tried various Rhones and for the first time I got the dairy/milk smell on the nose. It’s the little things that count. Break a leg with Ellen. Oh and Zins? the old school rocks!

  • The Ravenswood single vineyard Zin are good indeed, and good values overall. Old Hill is perhaps the best or best known, but their Teldeschi Vnyd is awesome. Ravenswood for better or worse (or the same) is now owned by the mega corp Constellation but R’wood must have had a great pre-nup because their single vnyd zins are still among the best (and gazillions $$ less than Turley and the like) and they can evidently still make zins as they want to. That’s cool– visit the vineyards in your Constellation-financed Bell chopper and then jet off to wherever and still make it back for the Carbon Credit Gold Jock Strap Kyoto Summit, but then finish the evening with a nice Wagyu steak and Petrus
