QOTD: Medical Student (a poor poor one at that, who can only afford cheap wine at the moment). This is my first post (i’ll admit i’m a lurker), I love the show, and i’m taking notes so that one day I can actually try some of the nicer wines that you’ve recommended.

Ravenswood? I know the Jet’s outplayed my Ravens in the 4th, but looks like you couldn’t help it huh? Go Ravens!

  • Gary,

With a focus on Zins, I would have liked to hear you talk about the lotential longevity of these wines. This is always a tought call for me with Zins as (barring a few, rare anecdotal accounts of 90 year old bottles of Zinfandel) these wines just tend to fade rather quickly.

    What do you think?

    QOTD: Nuclear Medicine Physician/Wine Writer.

QOTD – I’m a sophisticted redneck. Show me more $8.00 – 90 point wines. I restore furniture, I’m a Fireman and an EMT, also fish for Salmon in Lake Ontario and Steelhead in the Salmon River, smoke the fish (to go with reds) make reds and some whites from the Finger Lakes region of Upstate NY. My most important hobby is enjoying a couple glasses of wine every night. Thanks Gary for being so friggin’ entertaining and informative. I now critique my morning toast and jam with references to wine. It’s a good thing.

I was forced into early retirement by a disabling stroke following a mis-diagnosed neck surgery six and one half years ago. While I am still paralysed on my right side, I have pretty much chosen to ignore it 🙂 I have been able to pursue my lifelong passions of cooking and studying wine without the bother of work 🙂

Bombastic = great word to keep in the vocab utility shed. Nicely done.

QOTD: I’m a vendor manager for a bank / mortgage company. I manage the foreclosure attorneys used by the bank’s default area and assist with the foreclosure operations. But I still claim to be an all around great guy…

On the subject of zins, just tried Starry Night’s “Terre Vermeille Vineyard, Lake County” 2004 zinfandel. Only 700 cases produced. An amzing wine with blueberry pie, blackberry and even watermelon elements. Give it a try!

    Nice episode.
