    Hey Gary,

We live just down the road from one of the Rogue breweries and absolutely love the “I-squared” as they call it (Imperial IPA). I would also HIGHLY recommend the beers from the Elysian brewery here in Seattle as well, particularly their Jasmine IPA in the summer. They brew it using jasmine blossoms with the hops, which makes for a very interesting, yet subtle, jasmine white tea flavor that is to die for. Also, you must try Elysian’s Nightowl pumpkin ale…probably my favorite autumn brew.

Keep it up! Love the blog.

Great show. How about a spin-off show? A weekly BeerLibrary show with Alec? BTW, how is the beer selection at WL? Can we order any of it online?

That was awesome! This just shows how much knowledge there is in the WL staff, and not just in wine. I’m thoroughly impressed!

A pumpkin pie show? Just an idea…how about tasting a pie make w/ canned pumpkin and one made with fresh pumpkin? The difference is phenomenal.
Thanks for the beer show! Love the hoppy Sierra Pale Ale can’t wait to taste the others. Another small brewery is Indian Wells located on the east side of the Sierra Nevada. Very nice… especially their pale ale. It’s the water! Great logo, too.

I don’t give a rat’s ass about beer. If I eat Thai food I have a Thai beer, if I drink Chinese food I drink Chinese beer, & Mexican food I have Negro Modelo. Otherwise I drink wine.

QOTD: Would you like to see more beer episodes?

    I’d like to see less.

The Sierra Nevada is the only one I’ve had, but it is VERY good. 🙂

On your next installment of Beer Library TV, you’ll have to do some stout beers. One of my favorites is North Coast Rasputin Imperial Stout. Really good!!!

    QOTD: Was there one?

Unusually for me I’m currently drinking a glass of beer (Hefe Weissen if you’re asking) – a nice twist on a Friday evening. The odd beer show is nice, but keep away from the pies please.

QOTD – No idea, the video locked on me before the end and so far I’ve not been able to start it again. Oh well.

I beg to differ on the microbrew statement. Very commonly used in the west: Montana, Colorado, Washington. Big Hole Brewing in Belgrade, Montana and Sam’s Red Lodge Ales in Red Lodge, Montana, many many more. Alec, you’re cute. Please do more beer shows.

  • I’ve traveled Belgium tasting their best brews, including Westvleteren. Beer can most definitely bring the thunder.

Great show Gary! Please do more beer shows!
I don’t think a pie show would be a good idea though, but if you do one, good luck! I’m sure you’ll find some way to amuse us.

wow, someone got loopy on a monday. I LOVE episodes with guests. This was really cool, and I am really not that into beer. However, I am inspired to try a couple good ones this weekend.

It was cool seeing you drink something that you are not as comfortable or confident with and bring a wine perspective to it. Also, Alec was very good in front of the camera. Good stuff the both of you, and I look forward to a Beer Thursday maybe weekly or biweekly? Could be a fun addition.

Good show. Beer’s a nice change of pace. And I, for one, would enjoy a pie show–say once a year, around Thanksgiving?

I’ve always liked Sierra Nevada’s pale ale. It’s hoppy but not overly so. Too many newer craft beers go way, way overboard on the hops (they’re more like bitter herbal teas with bubbles than beers–which is great, I guess, if you like that sort of thing). As for the Rauchbier, it’s a great specific-occasion beer: it’d be awesome with good, real barbecue (where the smoke-on-smoke might cancel each other out a bit and accentuate the sweet, earthy flavors of both the meat and the beer). Anyway, that’s my hypothesis. And, for the record, the “ch” in “rauchbier” is pronounced like the “ch” in “blech,” not like the “sh” in “mush” (to get the exact pronunciation, pretend you’re trying to dislodge a popcorn husk from way back in the roof of your mouth). At least that’s how it’s prounounced in Germany.

Gary, I feel your pain, I’m at Notre Dame….

I loved the beer show. I’m new to wine, coming from a craft beer background, so I was really familiar with this stuff. Thanks.

Versatility and variety. Phenomenal. GREAT beer show, especially since I’ve had 2 of the showcased items- and that Rauchbier LEGIT tastes and smells like heavily smoked bacon! Fantastic Ep., Big G., and I look forward to you being back LIVE next week.
