Did I dream it or did you say not too long ago (maybe 3 weeks to a month ago) that you were going to do another tasting where we can buy the wines ahead of time and taste along with the show? And didn’t you say you were going to incorporate giving away an iPhone somehow with the tasting?

  • QTOD: I love lobster… its just too damn expensive usually for what you get.

A giant bowl of Shrimp Scampi can substitute for a far lesser price.

    GO BENGALS!

  • QOTD: Yea, I love lobster, the gewurzt part about it though is I don’t eat enough of it. I love lobster with sparkling wines or Chardonnay (especially- White Burgundies). If you never tried a Gewurztraminer, please try one of the Alcasian Grand Crus for under $25 if that price point is not that much of an issue.

Good ep GV – Alsace certainly brings the thunder as far as whites are concerned. An Alsacian pinot gris is certainly the best pinot gris I have had to date. I’ll have to try some Gewurtz from Alsace.

QOTD: I do, but I like crab WAY more (Dungenous and King)

  • You would like dining with me because I do not like lobster. So when they brought me my plate of lobster, I’d give all of it to you.

Thanks for pre-taping for us man 🙂 I’ve only had one gewurtz and it was really odd. I can’t quite recall the nose but I remember that there was a very distinct perfume/floral flavor component. I’ll have to give it another shot, perhaps this time with LOBSTER!!!

QOTD: Yep I sure do. It’s not something we eat all the time but once in awhile it’s nice to treat yourself!

Gary, that desert you describe…I have a friend that went to Korea and mentioned a dessert that sound just like what you mentioned. It is called Pot Bing Soo (well the name sounds like that, i have no idea how you would write it in English). But you can typically find it in Korean restaurants.

  • QOTD: Lobster’s OK, too much work for me with the shell, give me a tail only and I’m of with that.

  • Mr. Ambassador

Another fun show. Your comment about the shaved ice dessert reminds me of the Mochi Red Bean ice cream I once tried; doesn’t sound like the “exact” dessert but perhaps the flavors would be similar.

QOTD – Lobster… yeah. MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmm. Lobster.

QOTD – yes and no. I don’t like the texture of the lobster meat, but I love the flavor (like in a bisque).

  • Personally, I love the throwback set, minus thundercats, etc. Clean and simple, but handing out the knowledge with the personality to go with it.

And what’d you say about the green and the yellow? With your love for Clemens, and green and yellow, I think you’re a closet University of Oregon fan (Go Ducks!)

QOTD: Lobster rules… Kahuna is right though… crab better.

Gary, do you find anything in the Hugelheim you tasted that would lead you to believe it could age at all? How does the sweetness of whites affect their aging potential?

    QOTD: yes.
